    Hi Curtis. Thank you for all the info video's. I am not a farmer but I recently got small land from my late Grandfathers state. I would like to start a small kitchen garden for my family. My issues are quite different from the issue a farmer/gardener would have In the western hemisphere. I live in Somalia east Africa and my problem is the fact the area I live is arid and I had to start my soil from scratch, luckily I succeeded in that. Now I am learning everything, how to grow also the seasons are different here so I can't use your season plans as a star. other than that everything else has been applicable. thank you so much for all the material.

    I am a michigander who attempted to buy seeds from Migardener which is a Michigan ran company, I'll never buy from them again. It took nearly 3 weeks for them just to ship my very small order. I believe the order was around 15 regular sized packs of seeds, it was almost 1 month before I actually received my INSTATE order.

    can u use the greens cutter to cut the salinova or do u have to cut them individually

    • @tumba3182
      @tumba3182 8 лет назад +1

      Ellenn Oits, with a chef's knife. the greens cutter is for pretty much everything but salanova. in his recent interview with the guys at farmers friend they talked about how there's potentially a greens harvester in the works that can cut salanova effectively but its yet to be developed, the problem is that you need a precise cut with salanova or consistency will be a challenge.

    I am guessing that the pelleted seed varieties are the easiest to use with the Jang seeder. Did this help you choose to use Salanova because it saves you time and accuracy in the seeding process or would you consider Salanova seeds that were not pelletized?

    • @offgridcurtisstone
      @offgridcurtisstone  8 лет назад +3

      Salanova gets started in plugs, so the pelleting doesn't really matter for us. It does make them easier to handle I guess.

    I should've been more specific about the questions about micro green seeds. I was curious do you order an entire years worth at one time? And also I'm looking for amounts of seeds per tray and when you're talking about grams are you talking about wet weight after they have been soaked or dry before they're soaked? Also do you order all microgreen seeds from johnny's?

    • @offgridcurtisstone
      @offgridcurtisstone  8 лет назад

      If you have my book, all the details are on pages 199-201. I try to order most of them at once, but usually have to top up once or twice during the year. I don't order any microgreen seed from Johnny's. I get everything from Mumms Sprouting seeds.

      That's incredible. I had no idea. Have you considered attempting to save seeds? I started saving my Tomato seeds and its pretty straight forward and I have great germination. Letting leafy greens bolt and use space for an extended period of time likely wouldn't be worth it in a small space.

Yeah they have a chart for every region in the country. We used the one for southern ontario last year. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about those so they won't think that only people in BC have the resource.

    hey bro, ive become obsessed with your logic, knowledge and communication techniques. This season ahead of us will be my very first attempt at stepping into this entire new world of urban farming, hoping to learn the ropes of the farmers market, establish a base and see where God guides it from there. i come from a background of cannabis cultivation, learning from my father and soakin up that 70's eaglescout discipline and wisdom about the land and how it all works. so im coming in this with a stacked deck but still feel very alien to this demograph and industry.
    Could you PLEASE post/email me the link to this google doc? It would be a goldennugget of knowledge to have on hand if I could actually acquire the spread of seeds that you have found worthy of ordering... It would most definitely help me get a more focused scope and lower my chances of ordering something stupid or having to learn from a dumb decision. I have written down everything I can see listed just from wat is shown in the video, but im sure there are many cells beyond 26,27 and 28 lol
    keep your light shining bro. You are literally becoming one of the keyplayers of a movement that will make the world a much better place. imagine how many people just one plot in just one town effects or has an impact on.. now imagine how many people that stumbled upon you on youtube while searching other irrelevant information (i was browsing no till techniques for cannabis when it pulled your content into the no till "up next" playlist to the left of a video i was watching) and spark a determination to start a farm of their own after seeing the way your drive and commitment have resulted in obvious lucrative return.
    God will always keep his hand over your crop and your offspring because you have the heart to TEACH the people, and a vision of a better planet with some effort. alot of people get a vision, but you made a blueprint for execution bro. Your a planetshaker. Dont let anymore tell you different, my man. Thanks once again.
