Curtis, because of this video, I simplified my own seed tracking and ordering sheet and also spotted a mistake I had made. Thanks for your clear and well done VLOGs!
Hi Curtis. Thank you for all the info video's. I am not a farmer but I recently got small land from my late Grandfathers state. I would like to start a small kitchen garden for my family. My issues are quite different from the issue a farmer/gardener would have In the western hemisphere. I live in Somalia east Africa and my problem is the fact the area I live is arid and I had to start my soil from scratch, luckily I succeeded in that. Now I am learning everything, how to grow also the seasons are different here so I can't use your season plans as a star. other than that everything else has been applicable. thank you so much for all the material.
You have inspired me ! Was looking at seed ordering just today. I was going to get an order off but held back. Now I am going to do it. Microgreens in the basement. Time to learn ! Thank you !!!!
I am a michigander who attempted to buy seeds from Migardener which is a Michigan ran company, I'll never buy from them again. It took nearly 3 weeks for them just to ship my very small order. I believe the order was around 15 regular sized packs of seeds, it was almost 1 month before I actually received my INSTATE order.
Ellenn Oits, with a chef's knife. the greens cutter is for pretty much everything but salanova. in his recent interview with the guys at farmers friend they talked about how there's potentially a greens harvester in the works that can cut salanova effectively but its yet to be developed, the problem is that you need a precise cut with salanova or consistency will be a challenge.
Sat down and planned my spring planting, and which seeds I will plant when under my grow lights (shop lights), can't wait for the new year! Going to try grafting, seems like an adventure
Awesome!!! Interesting to see how you are reducing in crops to specialise. I remember in a previous video you talking about how every crop had to be high value. Have a great Christmas!!
Wahoo, you're coming to Arizona. Can't wait. Thanks for all your inspiration and the content you share. Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
Curtis as always awesome vlog! I have a question though: why do you need to buy the seeds of the hole year now instead of buying them just before you'll use them? That would allow you to be more flexible, I think. Thank you and happy new year!
Ive ordered my seeds from your distributors! I kid you not 8x2.5ft raised beds at 4ft tall. Im 6'5 so it helps me but I borrowed your leaft green system.down here in central tx
You are a great teacher. I have a question. I heard you say you grow 2 varieties of spinach on a video, one must have been Reflect. What was the other one? These spinach varieties grow vertical. I am very tired of harvesting barksdale. Thank you. And I hope to come to a seminar at some point. I am in the south.
I am guessing that the pelleted seed varieties are the easiest to use with the Jang seeder. Did this help you choose to use Salanova because it saves you time and accuracy in the seeding process or would you consider Salanova seeds that were not pelletized?
any of you in California, I'd highly recommend sustainable seed co, which I've found to have most seeds needed and has super completive prices, while being worker owned and responsibly run (safe seed pledge)
Love your videos. Can you tell me how many grams of Bulls Blood do you use for a 10x20 tray? I am having troubles getting this to look full. Thanks again for all you do. You have inspired me and my family.
What's up with camera focus? Happy New Year. Thanks for excellent content. Just bought my first flame weeder, building poly low tunnels this week. Bought a good used tiller, prepped beds in sept. Anyway working on contacts, building relationships. Going to kill it this year...
I just subscribed today because of a video I saw on Justin Rhoades. I am curious as to what you do with your old seeds you will not plant ... for example sell them to me...I am planting Ks for my first year and have all of my beds ready for spring! I really enjoyed you video and your approach.
Hello Curtis I love you videos and I have been a viewer for a while now. I just watched your seed buying video and couldn't see a good price for Sunflower or the like. Im UK based and ive tried to source seeds. The best I can find is roughly £5 a kilo, How many trays could you expect from that? Thanks
Hi, I'm in UK and was just about to ask the same question, where to source sunflower seeds? Can we use the black ones for birds or do we need specific ones for sprouting?
Curtis, I didn't see your spring onions on the list, what are they and where do you get them. seems like you can get them to stay small and green all year, I just plant onionsets extra deep, there ok but not what you get in the store, any chance you could do a video with all the details. thanks jim
I should've been more specific about the questions about micro green seeds. I was curious do you order an entire years worth at one time? And also I'm looking for amounts of seeds per tray and when you're talking about grams are you talking about wet weight after they have been soaked or dry before they're soaked? Also do you order all microgreen seeds from johnny's?
If you have my book, all the details are on pages 199-201. I try to order most of them at once, but usually have to top up once or twice during the year. I don't order any microgreen seed from Johnny's. I get everything from Mumms Sprouting seeds.
That's incredible. I had no idea. Have you considered attempting to save seeds? I started saving my Tomato seeds and its pretty straight forward and I have great germination. Letting leafy greens bolt and use space for an extended period of time likely wouldn't be worth it in a small space.
Great video Curtis, little nuggets of info like this on seeds are a great help to people wanting to do similar things. keep up the good work and here's to another successful year in 2017.
Jeez mate, from the top salanova crop, you're talking nearly 2K for one variety. I'm sure you'll get it cheaper than that ofc, but great to see you are pulling off that kind of produce. Love the videos and you're giving us Irish folk some cud to chew over. Thanks for the insight.
I got an idea you could maybe do to expand your business to a degree, why do you not make or join one of them delivery clubs. That mail produce or things fresh for use, if done correctly you could mostly do fresh shipped club style memberships to help increase profits.
You mentioned that if you are in BC the west coast seed chart is very helpful but you didn't say anything about the other charts they have on their website. Did you know about those? Yeah they have a chart for every region in the country. We used the one for southern ontario last year. I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about those so they won't think that only people in BC have the resource.
Very good content! I love those very technical videos. I m planning on moving in as a small scale farmer and those straight to the point and in depth/ specific videos are worth a million to me. I hope to generate enough cash to be able to throw some of it back at you through courses and such. (only got the book so far) Come to Europe for workshops! In a couple of years so i can afford them :-P You are having a positive impact. Happy Hollidays from Belgique.
It would be very hard to add to your awesome bud but for your sorting perhaps you'd dig having your "all stars", the main ones you are using, all in your 2019 year's bucket. Whatever's cool enough to make it into next year's bucket becomes the game! :D
hey bro, ive become obsessed with your logic, knowledge and communication techniques. This season ahead of us will be my very first attempt at stepping into this entire new world of urban farming, hoping to learn the ropes of the farmers market, establish a base and see where God guides it from there. i come from a background of cannabis cultivation, learning from my father and soakin up that 70's eaglescout discipline and wisdom about the land and how it all works. so im coming in this with a stacked deck but still feel very alien to this demograph and industry. Could you PLEASE post/email me the link to this google doc? It would be a goldennugget of knowledge to have on hand if I could actually acquire the spread of seeds that you have found worthy of ordering... It would most definitely help me get a more focused scope and lower my chances of ordering something stupid or having to learn from a dumb decision. I have written down everything I can see listed just from wat is shown in the video, but im sure there are many cells beyond 26,27 and 28 lol keep your light shining bro. You are literally becoming one of the keyplayers of a movement that will make the world a much better place. imagine how many people just one plot in just one town effects or has an impact on.. now imagine how many people that stumbled upon you on youtube while searching other irrelevant information (i was browsing no till techniques for cannabis when it pulled your content into the no till "up next" playlist to the left of a video i was watching) and spark a determination to start a farm of their own after seeing the way your drive and commitment have resulted in obvious lucrative return. God will always keep his hand over your crop and your offspring because you have the heart to TEACH the people, and a vision of a better planet with some effort. alot of people get a vision, but you made a blueprint for execution bro. Your a planetshaker. Dont let anymore tell you different, my man. Thanks once again.
PlantGoodSeed tried to rip me off! My first order with them was good. Second order had 50 seeds out of 350 for 2 packs. Their response was an Orange County apology : ".....I'm sorry you think our count is low......" Enough said. I filed a claim with Amazon.
It's funny cause they think they're selling to a captive audience. I've talked to RUclips about this before. I don't get why they don't let us give them suggestions on better ads. Whole Foods would probably have a far better capture rate than Monsanto.
I was so glad to hear you didn't say Monsanto was among those you buy from. Monsanto is utterly bad financially, morally, and worst is GMO. They think they own every seen on earth or at least people should only buy from them. Just because you did some dirty and unethical work.
You have good info in your videos but, it takes so long to get into the headlines. Why not KISS? Cut the length of your videos and get to the point. Bean
Curtis, because of this video, I simplified my own seed tracking and ordering sheet and also spotted a mistake I had made. Thanks for your clear and well done VLOGs!

Usable info, thanks. I'm plan on planting a small sample bed of salad mix this Spring.
You have inspired me ! Was looking at seed ordering just today. I was going to get an order off but held back. Now I am going to do it. Microgreens in the basement. Time to learn !
Thank you !!!!
Gregory Smith that's awesome. Best of luck!
Grey Klein I can do this.
Do you pre soak any seeds before you plant them?
I am a michigander who attempted to buy seeds from Migardener which is a Michigan ran company, I'll never buy from them again. It took nearly 3 weeks for them just to ship my very small order. I believe the order was around 15 regular sized packs of seeds, it was almost 1 month before I actually received my INSTATE order.
can u use the greens cutter to cut the salinova or do u have to cut them individually
Merry Christmas to you and your family as well!
Thanks for all the time and effort you've spent making these videos for us!! Happy holidays
Sat down and planned my spring planting, and which seeds I will plant when under my grow lights (shop lights), can't wait for the new year! Going to try grafting, seems like an adventure
Merry Christmas to you and yours...thank you for all your efforts to provide your system to all of us...It is very much appreciated
Awesome!!! Interesting to see how you are reducing in crops to specialise. I remember in a previous video you talking about how every crop had to be high value.
Have a great Christmas!!
It doesn't have to be for everyone, but it's certainly made our farm a lot more profitable.
You are such a professional. Your videos are so informative and well produced.
Happy holidays, Curtis. Just wanted to thank you for all the awesome content. I'll try to catch you in Tennessee in October!
Merry Christmas Curtis. Thanks for all you do.
great video thanks for sharing... question if you dont mond sharing where do you order your arugula?
William Dam
Urban Farmer Curtis Stone thank you!!
This video helped me so much. Thank you so much for providing such detail and sharing everything you try and do for your business.
Thx for sharing your spreadsheets!!
Would you share the template for seed planting organizing?
Wahoo, you're coming to Arizona. Can't wait. Thanks for all your inspiration and the content you share. Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.
As always, great information. You're a inspiration. Thanks a lot. Merry Christmas from NYC!!!
Merry Christmas in July. Here today to learn your vendors, getting ready to order seed for sprouting to get thru C-V lockdown 2.0.
Hey Curtis, thanks for the info on Mumm's. You saved us a whole pile of money on seed for pea shoots. it was rad seeing you speak in Spokane.
What do you think about Paul Gautschi and his back to eden garden? Do you have any plans to visit his garden?
+dairsensi not really a fan. Sounds ok for gardening, but it wouldn't work for farming.
Curtis as always awesome vlog! I have a question though: why do you need to buy the seeds of the hole year now instead of buying them just before you'll use them? That would allow you to be more flexible, I think.
Thank you and happy new year!
You don't. But the risk there is that if the company is short, it could delay your planting dates.
Space and Reflect.
Please publish a series of text books if you have not done so already. Love your content. You are an amazing youtuber. Thank you for shedding light.
How much did your seed cost in total for this list.
if you have a oz of seeds...how do you know how many feet that will drop?
How do you do the orders for microgreen seeds?
+Cathi Lesher no different. Just more seed and less variety.
I am guessing that the pelleted seed varieties are the easiest to use with the Jang seeder. Did this help you choose to use Salanova because it saves you time and accuracy in the seeding process or would you consider Salanova seeds that were not pelletized?
Salanova gets started in plugs, so the pelleting doesn't really matter for us. It does make them easier to handle I guess.
Thanks for the info Curtis ... Merry Christmas :)
any of you in California, I'd highly recommend sustainable seed co, which I've found to have most seeds needed and has super completive prices, while being worker owned and responsibly run (safe seed pledge)
Great video, thanks. More vids like this with spreadsheet crop planning info would be great.
Have you ever tried cloning?
+D T we did it this year with some of our tomatoes. It's in my early spring vlogs.
Very awesome channel. Cheers from Halifax!
Stephan Richard :
Cheers.

I'll save them for the zombie apocalypse!!
Great content, as always! Happy Holidays!

Hi, I'm in UK and was just about to ask the same question, where to source sunflower seeds? Can we use the black ones for birds or do we need specific ones for sprouting?
Hey Curtis, do a seed raffle.
Love what ur doing! Great channel and info. Merry Christmas.
Oh,, yes, with the seeds you're not planting any longer!!! :)
Curtis, I didn't see your spring onions on the list, what are they and where do you get them. seems like you can get them to stay small and green all year, I just plant onionsets extra deep, there ok but not what you get in the store, any chance you could do a video with all the details. thanks jim
You didn't see them because I will be no longer growing them. I like kincho as a variety though. The details of how to plant them are in my book.
I should've been more specific about the questions about micro green seeds. I was curious do you order an entire years worth at one time? Hey Curtis. How much is your spend for seeds total?
Around 3 grand, 2000 in micros.
Amazing. I'm curious what a large scale seed collecting operation looks like.
A large scale farm like say a 3 acre market garden, might spend closer to 8k.
That's incredible. I had no idea. Have you considered attempting to save seeds? I started saving my Tomato seeds and its pretty straight forward and I have great germination. Letting leafy greens bolt and use space for an extended period of time likely wouldn't be worth it in a small space.
Excellent info as per usual !

We got our seeds yesterday :)
I just got more seeds to add to the collection myself :) Pack a merry bowl for me, this rip is in your honor.
Tumba I'll pack us up a merry bowl when I get home from work!
@@thepincushionman7063 packed and bowling myself. here's to Curtis
[not criticism] Did you mean to put the IN-STOCK 3000 entry one line down - on line 4 - next to Green Sweet?
like you, I grow sprouts , lots of them for me , like 2 or 3 trays always going, and I eat them all, got my neighbors doing it tooo, thaniks much
Can't find the Sweet baby girl seeds anywhere... Does it have another name?
Me neither. I'm trying one called Sweet Million this year.
Where can I buy those seed?
Awesome! Thanks!!!
I got an idea you could maybe do to expand your business to a degree, why do you not make or join one of them delivery clubs. That mail produce or things fresh for use, if done correctly you could mostly do fresh shipped club style memberships to help increase profits.
I have been looking for ''rubber maid' in Europe since I was a teenager; finally found her in a dungeon in Berlin.
Any recommendations on where to buy good quality seed?
James - he mentions two companies in this video, and shows their catalogues.
You mentioned that if you are in BC the west coast seed chart is very helpful but you didn't say anything about the other charts they have on their website. Did you know about those? Sun Gold is the best tomato ever!!! :D
Johnny’s Select Seeds bought by Monsanto.
That’s a straight up lie. Don’t spread lies. Show us proof!
I think you forgot to mention how you actually STORE your seed :-)
That's a nice lettuce!
3.20 for seeds
