You mentioned animated. They have an official video called Unleash that is done in anime style and it's awesome. Kanami (lead guitarist) composes all their music and Rythm guitarist Miku writes the majority of lyrics with some songs done by the vocalist Saiki. These lyrics were written by Saiki. Thank you for reacting to the greatest rock band on the planet.
There is a drum solo included in the official live video of Freedom at Line Cube Shibuya. A few other songs that have incredible double kick bass drum parts are No God, Rinne (Reincarnation), and Moratorium. There is another guitar/bass duel in the official live video of Don't You Tell ME from this same Yokohama Arena concert as Hate.
If you ever listen to this again please check out the drummer closely. What Akane is doing with them is amazing. Miku too as the rythym guitar is also holding this whole thing together so well. What a guitarist! Saiki's voice just grabs you in this song too. This might be their best work so far, but that is hard to say since they have so many great ones, but this isan amazing song. Best rock/metal band in the world today, and I am in my seventies and have heard many great bands from the Beatles and Led Zeppelin and Deep Purple and Pink Floyd to Love Bites and Baby Metal. But there is only one now - BAND MAID!
What Akane does during the solo is just amazing drumming. Then when Miku comes in at the end of the solo and fills in with her guitar. It's the highlight of the whole thing. I'd like to see a solo where all three of them are in it, MISA, Kanami and Miku, and they do a three-part solo - where they jump around between each other. I wish Miku should be involved because she is so good with her guitar. I hope Kanami works on something like that for the future. It would be so cool!
Band Maid fought for years (basically from Square One) to gain complete control over their music. They've had this level of artistic control for several years now (lyrics, composition, arrangement and some post production as well). This control of their product is VERY important to them.
Hi Alexa, Band-Maid write their own music since 2016. lead guitarist Kanami is the primary composer with rhythm guitarist/backing vocals Miku writes most of the lyrics and Saiki lead singer occasionally writes the lyrics as she does in this song. if you love drums then "Freedom" is the song you want to hear
In addition to the solo in Freedom that somebody mentioned below, there's also an entire drum solo cut from the same concert as the Hate video you just reacted to (which I'm not sure if that solo cut is available to react to, but you could buy the concert vid and check it out). Also there are numerous drum cam videos that show just Akane from start to end on live stage performances, or just her covering her own work in the studio. One of these is for their covid stage performance of Warning here:, which is a drum-intensive song ruclips.net/video/jJ1U-yMFKlI/видео.html I also recommend their MV for From Now On which doesn't focus the camera on her constantly but which is a great drumming piece and the video does capture her being amazing at key moments. Great reaction! Rock on, Alexa!
Alexa, good job of picking a song to react to Band-Maid is NEVER a bad choice of a group to react to. One song that might me interested in reacting to is " Influencer". It's another song that shows their versatility with a strong hip-hop/rap vibe. It's a strong commentary on social media influencers (not reactors).
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter 😄) This song including your favorite Bass / Guitar battle was performed at last year's Lollapalooza festival in Chicago. As a big fan of two BMs (Band-Maid & BABYMETAL) I strongly recommend you to explore these girls in maid outfit more 😍. If you watch their MV "From Now On", a pure instrumental song, I am sure you will fall off chair. So, fasten your seat belt, please.
Great reaction. Speaking of animation, try their song "Unleash!!!!!". The lead singer, Saiki, wrote the lyrics for this song and they also changed their costumes for this year, The singer opted for a iconic full length dress with a funny flare at the bottom, I know I've seen dresses like this before in old films from the 30's or 40's.
Yes they write their own lyrics, Miku (rhythm guitarist, back up vocals) writes *most* of the lyrics since 2017. Prior to that others were involved in both lyric/songwriting. This song though was written by Sai-chan (vocalist) .. The general summary of hate? is written about some friends experiences of dating/relationships during the pandemic. One could assume bad relationships lol 🕊🕊🕊
To hear AKANE’s drums, you want the instrumental FROM NOW ON. The video is cool, too. In this video, you see the latest incarnation of BAND-MAID’s battle gear, which they introduced at the concert. The maid esthetic has been toned down considerably in this revision, and they dispense with it entirely in their new video for BESTIE.
That is truth! LOVE is what makes them so powerful. They obviously love to play and create music. They love performing live and create concerts that are incredible experiences. They love each other (Bestie) and the Masters and Princesses (Memorable, About Us). So the most powerful force that we know of - greater than greed or fear- powers BandMaid!
It's easy to see why Akane get's overlooked in Hate? when you consider the awesome lead/bass conversation but she's the heartbeat that keeps things ticking & is our banana fuelled gorilla :)
Agree about Akane...but Miku doesn't get any love in the conversation at all. In the conversation at 4:03 of this reaction. Miku comes in and adds depth to the conversation. She was actually on the top riser with a spot light on her at the concert, when she came into the conversation. I wish they did a quick cut to her on the first or second hits into the conversation. At 4:09 you can see a tiny pigeon in the background. And at 4:26, you can see the pigeon walking off the from the center of the riser. PO!🕊
Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are arguably the best live rock band on the planet. Check out Moratorium(2024 Zepp Tokyo), No God, Puzzle, or Play!(all official live videos). You won’t be disappointed. Cheers!
Saiki (singer) wrote the lyrics for Hate? and while people say she wrote the lyrics about someone specific, there doesn't seem to be any direct supporting evidence. My understand is Kanami (guitarist) composed the music, Saiki thought it sounded like she was angry and then later Saiki was inspired by an amalgam of stories about cheating men. If you're looking for a song with a prominent drum section then I'd recommend the live version of Freedom or Manners/Black Hole both of which can be found on their RUclips channel. I think Freedom (live) demonstrates exactly what makes Akane (drummer) special while Manners/Black Hole is just Band-Maid cranked to 11. Dilemma has some particularly special drumming, but that song lacks an official MV/Live video and thus probably wouldn't make for strong reaction content. There's also an acoustic version of Forward that showcases Akane playing the Cajon and an epic drum solo from the finale of their 10th Anniversary tour, but that's paywalled content, so not really something you could ethically use for reacts.
Ok, you saw their video for Thrill that saved their careers. This is from the final performance of their ten-year anniversary tour. It is common for Misa (bass) and Kanamincho (guitarist) to face off during concerts, which the band call "servings" (they ARE maids after all) It is also common for the girls to surround Akane's drum set and make faces at her to get her to laugh. Also. In the audience for this performance were some members of Lovebites.
Most of the songs are written by Miku, but “HATE?” was written by SAIKI. KANAMI composed the music and arranged the live performance. (In the case of BAND-MAID, the live arrangement may be changed from the studio recording.) And now, let's hear the song “HATE?”, The lyrics of the song “HATE?” are not a song about a person's feelings in the face of social contradictions, nor about the beauty of love in a relationship between a man and a woman, nor about a person's longing for a partner in a relationship between a man and a woman. This song is about a relationship, but it is not a love song. The lyrics of this song are about a lover who has cheated on his girlfriend, “I never want to see your face again, don't you ever show up in front of me again!” The song sings. This “hate?” song is absolutely impossible for a male metal band to sing. It is also not appropriate for a beautiful female singer or a K-pop group. Only a female band with a solid career and overwhelming performance ability could have written this song.
Their official live video for "Freedom" has a drum solo. It also shows them all grinning throughout the whole song, showing just how much fun they have playing together live. The live videos usually have extra bits in them that are not in the studio (or "music video") clips. They want to reward their fans for coming to the live shows, so often add flair to the songs. Though each concert is different. So the flair might be added to different songs at different concerts.
Thanks for checking out our Maids again. They do write their own songs, at least since their third album. Kanami, lead guitarist, composes the music and gives it to the rest of the band and they make changes to their individual parts. Miku, second vocalist and rhythm guitar, writes the lyrics with help from Saiki, main vocalist, sometimes. This song was written about a musician friend of Saiki whose husband cheated on her (at least that's the story I've heard).
Lead singer Saiki wrote the lyrics about her friends cheating boyfriend/husband. Rythnn guitarist Miku writes the majority of the lyrics for their songs and has been since the beginning. The song "Alone" is the first song written by the girls with lead guitarist Kanami doing most of the writing. Everything after that song is pretty much all them! The song "Thrill" that you reacted to was written for them as that was their early years. I already have Band Maid requests in, so here's a random! Don't You Tell Me (Official live) DICE (MV) 7:40 - Drum one? Oh yeah: Freedom (2020 live) Shambles (MV) Secret My Lips & Secret MAIKO Lips Blooming (MV) Choose me (MV) Warning! (MV)

I avoided this band for a long time. I eventually heard their live performance of Domination and realized they were not your studio controlled cutesy girl band of the Japan I lived in decades ago. They were formed back in 2013 by Miku. Lots of bands fall apart within a decade or less, but these musicians seemed to have found a way to incorporate everyone's ideas, and let everyone get a spotlight. They are infectiously happy and thrive on stage. Their best videos are their live performances.
The story goes that there's a Japanese singer who performs as LiSA. Around the time of the pandemic her husband, a famous voice actor, cheated on her with a fan. It became a big tabloid scandal. Saiki is friends with LiSA and when she heard about the affair she was pissed and wound up writing Hate. This is a break from the norm because Miku typically handles the lyrics while Kanami handles the arrangements and compositions, at least since they first released "Alone". Before that the record label handled at their songs but the band eventually gained full control over time.
Japanese GIRLS BAND is 40 years ago HARD Rock, SHOW-YA, POP Rock, princess princess. It started with Japan is, The best in the world It has become a country with many GIRLS BANDs. Now, HARD Metal GIRLS BAND 10 groups are famous. I forgot to say that. Pop, hard, metal Same level for all genres Only professional girls bands There are 30 to 50 groups.
Without looking into previous comments, the answer is yes they have had creative control of their music since 2015ish. This songs lyrics were written by Co-leLead singer Saiki Atsumi during Covid-19 lockdown about her friend Japanese J-Pop Artist Lisa whose husband embroiled her in a public scandal of infidelity. She wrote these lyrics in support of her friend
@@forkotsixteen1854 Yup, the Living Legend Sony's First Take RUclips Channel Homora Lisa! That's Saiki's girl and during Covid-19 it was a big scandal in Japan when it was discovered that her husband was having an affair. These guys saying Miku is just a BV are clueless. Sayanakidori, Rock in Me, and Time are her on lead vocals. Rock in me is one of.y favorites. Also if Saiki is singing Miku is harmonizing with her. She sings a large part of Thrill and Freedom solo too They are co-leads. Its Kobato Miku's band. She already had the contract and the inspiration of BM before she brought the other members into the band. Its the Miku show and she owns the rights to BM. She doesn't get the props she deserves. But dont let anyone tell you different, Miku runs the show and has the final say of all things BM related. She even negotiates their contract and pays the girls too. She also changed their label because the previous label was giving her ultimatums.

Wait LiSA....like LiSA who did a collab with Stray Kids?
@@alexatakesalook Yes.

Japanese GIRLS BAND is
HARD Rock, SHOW-YA,
POP Rock, princess princess.
It started with
Japan is,
The best in the world
It has become a country with many GIRLS BANDs.
Now, HARD Metal GIRLS BAND
10 groups are famous.
I forgot to say that.
Pop, hard, metal
Same level for all genres
Only professional girls bands
There are 30 to 50 groups.
Wait, u mean that LiSA?
@@forkotsixteen1854 Yup, the Living Legend Sony's First Take RUclips Channel Homora Lisa!
That's Saiki's girl and during Covid-19 it was a big scandal in Japan when it was discovered that her husband was having an affair. Saiki came to the aid of her Bestie after she was publicly humiliated and wrote the lyrics to Hate in response.
That's our Queen handing out a dose of vocal justice! LoL
Like stray Kids did a collab with LiSA...LiSA?!?!
@@alexatakesalook I know that they are a South Korean K-Pop boy band but I'm not familiar with Stray kids music or collaborations. Which leads me to believe you might be thinking of Black Pink's Lisa Manobal.
I'm referring to the Japanese J-Pop Artist Lisa, who was on Sony's First Take RUclips Channel and sang Demon Slayer songs "Homura" and "Gurenge"
She's currently one of Japan's biggest Pop Stars second only to it's Biggest Pop Star Ado in popularity. On par with a Namie` Amuro and more popular than day an Atarashi Gakko
@@Studio-Coast_Kid that might be the same one! This was a Japaense collab they did for a more rockesque type song...social path is the name....the collab was with LiSA with those exact capitals 😅 i hope it's not true, because she is so pretty and seems so sweet!
Saiki wrote the lyrics with some help from Miku.
Po! 🕊️
We love a boss lady :D
If you liked this video,
I'm not the type you like,
You should definitely see it
I would like to introduce three more girl rock bands.
Gacharic Spin “MindSet”,
LoveBites, "Set the world on fire"
NEMOPHILA / REVIVE [Official Music Video],
You won't regret it.
If you're interested in the songs from 30 years ago that formed the foundation for an all-girl rock band,
プリンセス プリンセス “GET CRAZY!”
Show-Ya - 私は嵐(Music Video)
You can get a good idea of the level of Japanese girl rock bands.
Appreciate the recommendations! I'll put them on the list!
Alexa...band maid..endless story (live) thanks ..👍
As you wish!
