This man is living music history. He's played on some of the most important records that will ever be recorded. So great to know he's a cool and humble guy too!
I didn't even know he played keyboards on Stevie Wonder's contusion ... I knew he was good, but not that good. I'm happy to see him on videos. He did a segment on Peter G talking about his personal life; also interesting.
Because he is a studio musician and they're not very known by the masses because people don't read the album credits nor care about the musicians involved. They only want to groove to the song.
I am so happy to see him still working them keys as long as he has. Probably one of my favorite keyboardists ever. I love this guy. Him and MJ worked together on so much together.
Greg is such a awesome musician. I almost got to me him personally in Dallas when Michael did his Bad Tour in 1988. He and couple of other musicians from the tour was suppose to appear at Brookhaven College in Farmers Branch, Tx. But because of scheduling conflict they never showed. And I skipped an economics class that day. But I understood. He's still great.
What a great keyboardist, arranger, composer, MD, bandleader and singer he is! His advices gave me one of the greatest supports given to me in my musical and musician's life!!!!
"You'll never be more of a musician then you are a human being." Superb interview and words of wisdom from Brother Greg Phillinganes. He speaks from his soul in all honesty, and THAT'S so important for us all to do. Let's do it for our children.
Greg: You're a wise man and a class act all the way. Watching you and MJ on stage, you can see the mutual love, trust, respect, admiration and fun! What a blessing in both your lives. Amen, bro!
Thriller is the best selling Album of all time, but I will always feel that Off the Wall is the better album period. Whenever anyone who is reading this gets the chance...go back and listen to it from beginning to end.Phenomanal!!!
Had the privilege of playing with Mouse in the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp European tour jazz ensemble in 1972. I think he was just 16 then , but we knew.....we knew he was gonna be waaaayyyyy bigger than most of us.
Just wondering.. During thriller, who decides who will be receive royalty. Quincy or Michael. He's too young that time or new in making his own music to decide. If Quincy says Greg should be named, Michael I assume will agree.. Right? I dont know thats why Im asking..
Well Greg I like you very much but of course you wouldn't get royalties, why would you? I like the interview but that bit... well it just makes it seem as if everybody wants a "piece" of Michael. Anyway, hopefully I'm over-analyzing but you can't let that pass.
@@StefanGBucher"Tends to" don't mean "have to"... Eddie van Halen played the beat it solo and didn't claim royalties... in my opinion if Greg wanted the royalties he had to ask immediately and don't complain now that MJ is dead...

JKYB7088 Session musicians tend to get royalties, especially at that level: musicindustryinsideout.com.au/session-musicians-know-rights/
Because he actually contributed to some songs and wrote some parts, that's why.
JKYB7088 Dont talk bullshit. Of course he also wished to get some more money and its ok.

He sounded a little bitter at the part about the royalties. No offence.
Naila Kamana I think he deserved more than he got.

I don't understand. Why don't you get royalties as a musician on an album?
it always paid for the gig
You get to choose. Immediate pay for the session or wait for the sales of the album to get royalties. He chose the first option
It's all the performances job
Give him his royalties, MJ Estate.
He didn't write the song!!! He hasn't get royalties
