  • You Are There! Come along as I fly my North American AT-6D. I'll give you a little introduction to the plane, as we do a pre-flight inspection and cockpit tour. Then we'll take her up for a spin. Might even do a snap roll. It's going to be a lot of fun, so come aboard. - Kermit Weeks (20121218)

Wow!! The world is grateful to pilots like you who actually share the experience, Kermie Thank you! Thank you! You bring it home for those who can't own a fighter we can at least experience being in the cockpit with you via the camera and enjoy it too!! AMAZING!

As a young tad of a lad I learned to fly at the age of 16, I'm 75 now. The field I trained at and one of the instructor's I had was an old re-tread WW2 fighter pilot who owned an AT-6 like this one. I remember when he thought I had enough experience and hours he started teaching me to fly his AT....Lord, I worked at the field washing planes, taking out the trash, cleaning up, anything I could do to earn enough money to buy fuel for the plane so I could fly it for an hour or so. Great memories Kermit, thanks for being you!

Thnx again, Kermit, for taking 60,000 of us on another great flight! We really enjoy the preflight.

Love these flights with Kermit! Now that I am 70 years old with over 12k hours under my belt and still an active CFII, it is always great to ride along with Kermit. I have been to his Museum several times and envy his lifestyle and dedication to keeping GA alive. I can vouch for his safety techniques and piloting skills as a flight instructor. Wish I could ride along with Kermit for real, but this is the next best thing. Tom Gilmore MCFI Emeritus

I get such a kick watching these videos Kermit. I have a good sound system here in the computer desk and with a 27 inch wide screen monitor I actually feel like I'm flying with you. Thunder in the gut.... To me these Warbirds sound like trucks but they have to be aerial trucks to get into the air with all the weight they carry in fuel and other armament... Just magnificent. Thanks for the vicarious thrill. Much obliged from an old time, low time pilot.

I've watched a few of these videos, and I love the stream of conscientiousness narrative of Kermit, as well as his teaching method, he describes in detail all the procedures and gauges, then when the motors running and you can't hear, he just points and gives thumbs up. It's up to you to remember what he said earlier.. great mind to memorize all the procedures for all the planes he must fly.

Again as usual fantastic footage and I really like your comments on the procedures as well Mr. Weeks. I flew one myself early this year belonging to the Royal Dutch Air Force Historic Flight, I can tell you the smile on my face during take-off has never been bigger in my life. You feel the engine in your gut and it feels so good!

Enjoyed your AT6D Texan video, brought memory of when I was a kid in the 1970s, RoyalNew Zealand airforce still used AT6D'S or as we called them Harvard MK 111's, when Wigram Airbase here in Christchurch, New Zealand was used as central Flying school up until 1995 when it was closed down. The Harvard's were retired in 1977 and replaced by a locally built trainer called the Airtainer.

Long to visit Fantasy Of Flight also.
How do you choose what to fly is it availability, mood, or other, would assume sometimes you have to give your engineers notice of intent.

I love these POV videos! Do you put these on DVD uninterrupted? They'd probably sell well in the gift shop or website! I like that you put them up for free on RUclips, but I'd like to see it all at once, not in bits and pieces! Do you have any videos of the wood shop? I sat in during a museum tour and it was pretty neat. WWI aircraft? If you can't find it, you'll build it! (The wall of Allison crate engines in one hangar was pretty impressive as well!)

you should check out the Blurfix to get rid of that pesky prop blur! its made by snake river prototyping, and you can find it by goodleing either snake river prototyping, or just Blurfix!
from what i understand it was made for underwater use, but i heard that it works well for prop blur, too!

I haven't been over to the museum in years, but in taxing to the hanger that wasn't a water slide on the left was it? I was a flight mechanic on a Connie and a C7a, would have liked to do more then inhale the hydraulic fluid fumes at the shop.

I just found my new favorite channel! I caught everything you were explaining except why your able to over boost the engine. ( Does that only happen when its cold?)
And maybe I missed it but I didn't catch how you throttle up and down.
And once you touch runway are you totally steering with the rudder or can you lock/unlock the rear gear once you straight inline?
