Poles should not be held accountable for losing seasons in his first 2 seasons cuz it was a total rebuild. Year 3 should’ve been a winning season. Poles did a very good job in getting this team in a good position for the future. Great CAP and draft picks. A highly talented rookie QB breaking Bears rookie records. A good young talented core of players. The HC is what’s needed now and an O/D Line rebuild
This is the 3rd year of a rebuild and they might end up with just 4 wins. The players he has drafted and signed cannot be that good. I love his process, but it only works if the correct players are selected. Claypool, Stevenson, Pickens, Jones, Davis, and Edmunds were either a disaster or the jury is still out. My guess is Poles and the Bears are parting ways.
He drafted a punter in the fourth round with a defense that has more holes than whorehouse and an offensive line that wouldn’t hold up in the big ten. The guy is over his skis
@@bg147 Poles is only at fault from a win/loss record perspective for yr 3. He went 3-14 in 2022 to 7-10 in 2023 during the actual rebuild years. It hasn't worked for the Bears, because since 2001; The Bears have let their New Hire General Managers fire the Head Coach who management picked. When the Bears hired Poles, Poles was Not allowed to fire Eberflus when they drafted Caleb. They should have started with Caleb, a New Head Coach. Then let the GM and Head Coach pick the staff they wanted. Without Ownership interference. This Whole thing went sideways, when Poles was hired and given a list of Head Coaches(Of which Eberflus was one OPTION). Then Poles was told b e could replace Eberflus, when Caleb was drafted. Ownership wanted to keep Eberflus and see how it went. This is the Result. Just let Poles and Ian Cuttingham Decide who the Head Coach will be. Aren’t these the same people that said no matter what Poles did, as long as he didn’t miss out on Caleb he was safe to finish the rebuild? I mean you sort of have to give him this offseason/draft to use all these picks on the trenches since the QB was drafted, young WR drafted, secondary is ok-ish those lines need to be the main priority. If he drafts only one OL/DL this upcoming draft, I’d fire him before training camp starts.

There was a game out there where the Bears didn't even cross the 50 yard line the entire game. That as an all-time low until this last game. Something about 49'er land..
I was at the game in December 2000 (Urlacher and Mike Brown rookie year) at Candlestick. Cade McNown couldn't get us into 49er territory the entire game. Jerry Rice's last home game as a 9er and Terrell Owens caught 20 passes for like 280 yards. We lost 17 to 0. Memories. I grew up a Steeler fan in the 70's. Why did I become a Bears fan in 1985? As a 9ers fan, that pregnant pause by Wilbon spoke volumes cuz they caught him not really knowing the situation regarding the dynamic b/w Shanny & John Lynch. Kyle definitely hired JL, and that has been an overt issue since 2017. So many examples, whether it’s Lynch advising Kyle to reconsider looking at Mahomes pre draft and Kyle refusing cuz he wanted to get Cousins in FA the following offseason, to the moving up in draft to pick Lance, to Kyle literally running to FO before Trent Williams was going to sign w/ KC begging them to have him sign last minute, etc, etc. Either, Wilbon has been oblivious to their history or he was caught assuming and not fully aware w/ what he was talking about, caught in a corner to then stick to his guns. It was fascinating to say the least.
Ppl giving up on poles are getting ahead of themselves, the reason this season is so disappointing for us fans is because this team is supposed to good. Talent wise our eyes tell us this team has the most talent since the 18 team. Especially on offense. Poles did put together a good team but they were misused and mishandled by an incompetent head coach in Eberflus who preached the correct philosophies to poles, but Eberflus lacked the character to execute them with this players and staff. Let poles see his build through. Cuz I can I assure you whether this was a good or bad season for us those three picks in the top 65 were going to go into building the trenches.
They need to get rid of poles and get a GM that believes in building in the trenches. Plus you have to get someone who can draft in rounds 2-7. I can name one draft pick in those rounds he drafted that other teams want. That is Gordon. Who else is a game changer? No one.

@benjaminrobert588 fair point, no arguments there. He was a good player and let's not forget the punter. He is awesome. So that's 3 out of 23 draft picks he has selected from rds 2-7. Who else you got that would be a starter on a top 10 team right now since that's what we are trying to get to. This of course is not including all the wasted picks he sent to teams for backup Olineman who didn't even play a game for us.
@@michaeljones4515 I think Braxton Jones is also a solid player. He gets hated on, but he really does well per PFF stats and is great value for when we picked him. I don't think many teams hit on their late round picks outside of the 1st and 2nd rounds. I would have to see the percentages from each organization to determine. He has hit on two second rounders though, which I would say is decent overall. Poles has also created an incredible amount of cap space for this next offseason. Compare that to how bad the cap situation was when he took the job. It's not like he started with a normal cap space situation like most GMs come into. The Bears had to draft Caleb at #1 this past season. They had a shot at a great talent and couldn’t pass that up. Poles tried to address the O-Line and the guys he grabbed didn’t work. I think better OL coach/HC will be better for this team.
Amen. Yes, there are SERIOUS deficiencies in the talent on this line, but the OL coach flies under the radar. It's clear that he is not teaching these guys how to operate at a basic NFL o-line.
Poles thought this line was good. That's scary. Darnell Wright is not worth a top 10 pick. Chase Claypool and Nate Davis were missteps. A 3rd round pick on a WR that couldn't catch.
