I remember riding blue bird bus 37 in 4th grade and it sounded like this one. Lol I always felt it was quicker than the other busses cause it had that turbo sound
I miss that old school Allison trans whine. i drove a late model Chevy one ton van for my boss that had the same or similar trans and got to hear it again!
Man I remember that i use to ride school bus the engines sound like that i remember i was like go faster bus driver he likes okay that engines has good horsepower
@@rhondasaunders2117 U right, an I be hatin that. Last time I rode a school bus was back in 12th grade, but those buses was already retired before then. I graduated in 2006.
I rode an old school bus,a 1979 Ward Chevy,366,Allison from the academy to the prison to search the prison, the bus went around a sharp curve, went to 2nd,then 3rd,then back down to 2nd.
Nice video. I liked the upshift from third to second gear at 6:04. I noticed that these bus transmissions are often sensitive at the lower speeds where it will occasionally jump from third back to second gear.
Well, the microphone was right next to the air tank. The reverberated and amplified the sound of the compressor. I didn't think about loud that compressor would be at the tank. Standing inside or out, you can hardly hear it.

I miss that engine sound. Reminds me when I was on the school bus when I was a kid.

That sure brings back memories! I used to drive buses just like this one. That compressor is quite loud compared to normal for one of those though.
busrailfan he had a microphone mounted in the engine compartment to get better sound of the tranny. That’s why the compressor is loud in this video.
I always loved the sound of the transmission in those automatics
I remember how I use to ride a Ford ward school bus and it sounded a little different when it is in second gear
Every gas bus in my district was hydraulic brakes, most diesel except for several were air brakes
