Johnny is now 88 and I saw him live in concert two weeks ago (for the second time). He showed signs of mental impairment (memory lapses/forgetting lyrics, starting to sing a song again that he had just sung, repeating himself, forgetting to leave the stage before the encore, wondering out loud what to do next, using written and photographic reminders of names of decades-long bandmates), but his voice and technique were great as usual. I solemnly suggest seeing him perform soon if you would like to. 😔
Nah, you're describing Joe Biden you saw on some news program. Johnny only looks physically degraded but still with more coherent abilities and faculties in place than that birdbrain of a fake president we currently have.
I saw him perform for the 2nd time this past summer in North Carolina. I could tell a difference from the 1st time, so I know you are saying, but still a fantastic performance and show! I actually got to meet him and he autographed my album for me.
I am impressed with the Exceptional Talent, Mr. Mathis has. It was Extremely Enjoyable watching him Dance with the additional Dancers. What Outstanding Talent that he has!
"Get Out of Town", written by Cole Porter, comes from the 1938 Broadway musical "Leave It to Me". Johnny recorded it in 1964 for an album entitled "Broadway" which was not released until 2012 via CD. Mercury, Johnny's record label, did not release the album because they felt it was too upbeat, and the songs too unlike the romantic ballads that he was famous for. Mathis wanted to record the album because he was attending a lot of theater shows in the mid-1960's and enjoyed the music. He also stated in an interview that he "was quite enamored at the time with Lena Horne and I think a lot of it reflects that". It's interesting that he chose to perform this song from his then unreleased album on the Sullivan show!
I guess it will depend on clearing the music copyrights. Carol Burnett, for instance, has put many shows out there, but many are missing the musical performances.@@TomElvisSmith
@@MostlyBrenda always loved watching david frost show in my college years instead of studying. he had great guest and musical acts. Both Frost and Cavett ruled for me
Holy Johnny Choreography! Don't remember him ever doing that anywhere. But he sure was a sight to see. Mathis was cool... and a little good too at toe tapping.
Wow, that was cool! If I saw this as a young child I don't remember it. I don't think I' ve seen Johnny dance before! He did great! Happy New Year everyone!🎉😃
Thanks for ending 2023 with Johnny Mathis the clip shows what a versatile performer he is. Have a safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve. May the worst day of 2024 be the best day in 2023!🎉🎉🎉🎉!

Johnny showing some excellent moves. I believe he recorded this song while at Mercury Records.

The David Frost Show is new place to find live videos. 😉
@@MostlyBrenda Thank you for letting me know! I hope they will post Jan Peerce's performances as well as Tiny Tim's medley of World War I songs.

Maybe he wanted to prove the public would accept this style from him. The audience liked it.

He was great He should stay home..he,looks awful Dementia is in
🙄🙄🙄
If he doesn't want to stay home and the majority of his public agrees, then so be it. He probably wants to live by his own rules, not yours.
