Best of luck in starting uni 🙌 It takes such courage and commitment to forge a new path. To coin an actor’s phrase ‘break a leg’! (Disclaimer - not to be taken literally).
I noticed the No Thong logo, and I appreciate the promise 😊 Good luck with the studies, you'll do great, compared with the kids you have patience and resilience that age, sailing and maintaining old sailing boats brings!
I retrained at 44 and never looked back it wil will be an amazing chapter in your life and one desision you will be glad you made, good luck and fair winds.
Hi Justin, I have watched your videos on and off for a couple of years now and I just wanted to say thanks. You have entertained and educated and that’s about as big a compliment as I can give. Good luck at Uni and I look forward to whatever videos you produce.
The fact that you've taken the time to leave that comment is compliment enough. Thank you 😁. There are more videos coming but as you can imagine, I'm overrun! Anatomy exam on Monday in fact 😂
AIS - agree with others, I've got as far as Scotland (Stornoway, from Poole) solo in/on my 25' Django, AIS is excellent when short handed and offshore, I don't have radar, I do have radar transponder & would heartily recommend that also = great comfort to know my position shows on other boat's radar even though my boat is tiny.
Hi Justin, one more congratulations on achieving a place on the paramedic science course I know how difficult it is just getting on it. I was in my 40's when I started mine and have loved being a paramedic in west Wales for the past 13 years, the pay has got better over the years but the job which I love is perfect for my lifestyle of surfing, kitting and of course sailing around Pembrokeshire. I have just extended my mooring insurance for another month as I feel a little robbed this season with all the storms, hoping for some late season weather for me and my shrimper. Enjoy the course and remember it's just jumping hoops to a fantastic career pob luc 😊
Absolute best of luck with your university course, love ya channel and I'll be watching it regardless of its name, for what its worth i got an AIS receiver from london chart plotters, connects wirelessly to my tablet, darn site cheaper than most retailers
Hi Justin. First…I knew you could do it…and to not only pass the barrier but leap over it to get into Uni. Brilliant. As to cruising…there are free anchorages all over North. Brittany. Only thing is you need plenty of chain or chain plus warp to handle the tidal range. As to changing the name…it’s the same thong but to a new tune.
Hi Justin I have watched all your videos and loved them all You expose your feelings quite fearlessly, very brave of you Also great that you are able to spot situations and activities that others would enjoy hearing about Yes to AIS - B the transmitter one Use a separate aerial not a splitter Using a tablet to show the AIS data keeps the cost down I am not keen on your suggested channel name- a bit teenage? Why not your name ot Justin - something We want to know the real you Your videos have infected me with Jester 2024 virus and have signed up and bought a yacht to do it in despite having a Bavaria 350 family yacht I would love to pick your brains on some of the solo issues if you don't mind Brian Day Yacht Vivendi ( took part in Jester 2023)
Haha. When you go to University, students will come to you and say, "hey professor, where is the psych class?". You will be fine and in charge of that University! I started University when I was around 30 (1998) and went to get my masters in my 40s. The University will take your solitary life and fill it right up! Speaking of self steering, I want to make my own wind vane so bad. My input on your channel name: Young Chap Sailing! Here in Florida, my sailing season is just starting. It's been too hot to sail and the wind is just too calm in the summer.
Looking forward to more videos, I sail a Storm 33 very similar to your Fulmer, I did the back to University thing over the last few years, and ended up with Post grad in Engineering, you will love it, I put in AIS this year Matsutec HA-102 , its an investment , VHF splitter , new plotter that can show AIS and transponder will total around £1,000 , is it worth it? It's hard to say, I did without it for 20+ years, but I do feel it reduces anxiety in busy shipping area, only a few weeks back (before I finished install) I had a ferry take me completely by surprise as it approached astern crossing the lough I was in, there was no problem as he could see me and I was ahead but it did surprise me I didn't see him sooner, with AIS transponder they can see you, your course speed and direction and if needed call you by name on VHF, this is a huge. It is also fantastic amusement looking at what's around you. Keep the videos coming and best of luck at University
I did the uni thing between 95-99 at Plymouth when I was 45! Hard work, but mostly enjoyable! Much credit to you for the ambition and commitment! Keep us updated?
Hi Justin, The Island Packet 35 you saw in Isles of Scilly and commented on might be of interest especially right now as it is reduced in price by quite a large amount. All the best
A very beautiful boat, about 2 years too soon for me sadly. I'm at uni now, can't afford the big expenses for a..,... Well, for the foreseeable future really 😌
Hope your studies are going well! Regarding AIS, I saw an interesting video from a channel Boats and Bits: "Affordable DIY AIS Setup for Sailors..." Dead cheap and for sure better than nothing!
hi Justin, great news about the channel, looking forward to the maintenance videos. As for the channel name, think a change would be good, how about, 'Sailing Justin English Channel '😁. cheers Rich
University???? Tis a noble thing you do Sire. Good luck and enjoy. Bravery fortunes those who have the balls to do such things. New name for a channel?? ‘Sailing Justin Time’. 😂😂😂
@@SVRoquetta now that’is’ noble. Well done you. Service to others. Speaking of which. I watched you vids first time about 7 month as ago and now own a Biscay 36. Believe in your power lol. All the best Justin. Awesome choice of knowledge. I wish you the best of luck and fortune. Martin.
@@SVRoquetta when your in the Clyde or I ever make Plymouth without being press ganged I’ll let you drive the boaty thingy. Needless to say it’s about you taking the leap of self belief. We’ve all believed in you every time we watch your vids. Thanks for the inspiration. Martin
I don't see you as a thong or mankini wearing sort of chap, perhaps long johns and a string vest? Enjoy the hours slaving over hot books in the library and think of the wind in your hair and sea spray getting up your left nostril at 0300 hrs as a big green one dumps in the cockpit. Looking forward to your upgrades, we can compare headlines next season as it something I am also doing over the winter. We do need to meet up for a beer some time. Sandy
Thanks for your fun, interesting, informative and honest films. Good luck with uni, you'll smash it! And yeah why not change the name. Although the new one doesn't really say what it's about, more what it's not about?
I'm looking forward to seeing the winter projects unfold. Are you going to make another Hebridean or maybe another design? We'll have to wait and see I guess. I'm not convinced on the new channel name. Can you think of something that reflects what you are, rather than what you're not, if you get me?
I don't know about anyone else but I want a first day at school video please! :-) As for the channel name, yes it's time to let go, I note the ink on your right arm matches the fancy compass rose but I'm not sure about the title. Why not commit to the boat and call yourself WW? My season will last until November when I may well have some Family on board for a little sail. It's been a bit of a disaster so far this year so even thought I have some video it's not worth posting. Maybe after the last sail I might know a summary together.
I thinks it’s a good idea to change the channel name now Roquetta has moved on, as new subs may wonder about the channel name. If things get desperate you could keep a mankini in the under wraps for the click bait😅.
I have seen many videos of your channel, your videos are very nice but your channel has some deficiencies like keyword research, thumbnail SEO, video file SEO, description SEO and video title research, these are more likely to get top rank for videos and get likes, comments, shares on videos, through which Hughes Organic subscribers come in handy. :)
Good luck with the University.
I hope we will "sea" you repairing and updating your boat.
Cheers.
