It looks like a video in 2008, ahh memories when we barely could see the letters in the menus explaining software. But the message is cool. Well thought.

Very rare, out of print and now very hard to find (only in Italy). I managed to import one that I paid well for, its the best structural and functional illustrations of anatomy I have seen. I saw one listed "collectable" on Amazon for over 10,000.00!!!!!!!!!! The illustrations are so clean that even without any translations its a valuable learning tool for any figure drawing person to copy the illustrations. Thanks for the show and tell, you acquired a rare great treasure of instruction..

I have a friend who edits art instruction books for a major US publisher and I've pointed him to it as a great book to bring to America, but I don't hold much hope. You're right, it'sa great book, but I can't imagine the crazy prices.

where can I buy this book!?

  • @strongindependentblackwoma1887
    @strongindependentblackwoma1887 4 года назад +3

Yup, this book is a nice combination of "anatomy" and.... "how to sketch anatomy formations". Also reminds me of András Szunyoughy artistic anatomy book but his book is more about anatomy.

I think the book talks more about the structure of the body, and less about how to draw those structures. How do you use it to guide your painting?

This is awesome. I'm thinking about buying this book, but would really love to be able to read the text. If you ever finish translating the book, would you care to share? lol Thanks for this great review on the book. :)

Hi Scott, does this book focus at all on female anatomy?

I was curious how you made out with your translations? Would you still recommend this book? Best Anatomy & Drawing the Figure Book you own?
Sorry for all the question. The book comes at a steep price. It gets good reviews but, I don't always trust reviews via Amazon.
    Thanks - John

John, I never made it thru the book, but I still think it's great. There is a new book out by Gottifreid Bammes that I might like more. Still this book is really good, I need to get back into it. Not enough time.

I just received a digital copy of Struttura a few days back. I've been so busy with it, I didn't notice you replied. I'll have to check out the Gottifreid book. I'm assuming it's his most expensive anatomy book ;)
I recently received a copy of "Anatomy for Sculptors - Understanding the Human Figure by - Uldis Zarins." Don't let the name fool you. It's a very good anatomy book!

John Kon the Bammes book is The complete guide to anatomy for artist and illustrators. Its pretty good but dense, I'm still working thru it.

I will definitely check it out.
I little off topic: have you ever heard of the "Frank Reilly Abstraction" for drawing the human head and figure (especially the head)?

also, did you ever end up going through the whole thing, scott? if so, how long did it take you?

Amir Allam no, I got a job drawing a comic so all my spare time is devoted to that. I do use it for reference and hope to get back to it one day.

Scott or Amir- there is a "Struttua Uomo in movimiento" on Amazon for $123. Yellow cover, different cover picture than the red book. Is this any good? Same thing? Or a totally different book? Amazon says it is the updated version of the red book (which is on sale for $550.....). Would be glad to know your thoughts. Thanks

@@oferhilo3664 Hi. I haven't checked on the pricing of these books since back when I originally wrote- 6 months ago it looks like. My wife ended up buying me the yellow copy. I have it now. It is really good! Definitely worth the $, now that I know that it is in the $1000's. I wouldn't pay that much for it. But, for someone who loves the human figure, and anatomy and drawing, it is a super amazing resource to have, just to envision the body. The illustrations alone are so excellent and inspiring I look through it often. They alone would be worthy of copying, one by one, over the course of a year. But like most people I haven't time for that now! Still, great book, very helpful for anatomy, drawing figures. If you can get it for $200 or under, I would say it is worth it, if you are into this type of thing. Hope this helps.

This is a really beautiful book, i study on it because i'm italian! But this book comes out of a fucking great book that it's written only in german (dammit!) "Die Gestalt des Menschen" Gottfried Bammes that is absolutely the best anatomy book for artists! I suggest you to take a look! I'm sorry for my english.. :D bye!

Good morning, this is a great book, I have the honor of having it and of studying artistic anatomy with the professors who created it, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice. Initially I bought it before studying impressed by the beauty of the illustrations, then portraying them for my artwork as a normal anatomy book. When I started the course I understood the different approach, the method is set up in such a way as to be able to draw and reconstruct the body in a three-dimensional way until I have a three-dimensional knowledge of all the details and the parts that contribute to certain movements. We start from a simplified geometric situation by dividing the body into 8 modules, one module being the head. At the beginning it is very difficult to enter the method, once acquired the result is guaranteed, obviously with a lot of practice. There is an updated version of the one in the video and another dedicated to movement. Thanks for your attention.

Thanks, it’s definitely a different way of looking at anatomy. I’m glad I was able to get a copy in America.

Hi @foetusrivista9108, I was wondering: do you really know the professors who made this book? Is there any chance to study with them? Even if I live in America? I tried to Google "Venice Academy of Fine Arts" and can't find any info on faculty: Alberto Lolli is the one who did the Illustrations I think. I'd love to study the book the way it is meant to be, but I have my doubts as to whether these people are still alive...or if it's even possible to study with them. Any info much appreciated. Thanks.
