@@jmin8400 I'm just speaking to the theme... Whitney was trying to get serious with the Bodyguard (trying not to let go, losing control) while he was trying to keep things business. I don't care what year the movie was filmed. Highly irrelevant. Simply stating there's parallels to the "theme".
Back in the days most places did not have the up to date air condition systems like they have today. Without fans singers would had been drenched in sweat.
Thanks for the re-upload. It's good to finally hear just a glimpse of the original version of "You're All I Need" with Dawn's vocals. Bittersweet performance of "Don't Let Go" I wish they at least could've finished the EV3 era as a quartet smh.
Their best album IMO all original material and showcases their greatness as a collective and as individual vocalists. Dawns vocals are still on most songs so she’s really not gone. Only the singles her vocals are removed but the way EV always switches leads, she’s not missed in that regard. I would love to own this on vinyl and wish they do a deluxe anniversary edition with the all bonus songs from the era. They recorded a lot of good stuff. Hell they could include the 2 good songs off Terry’s album with it 😂
@@badd.lil.ting88 I agree with you that this is their best album as well, I think having different producers involved besides Foster-McElroy was a great choice. Yeah I think Dawn is on every song on the album except the last 1 but it's not the same cause her voice might've been used way more than we knew. According to Ivan Matias, all the songs he worked on for this album, with all of Dawn's original vocals, don't sound the same as the final versions we hear. I do wish the ladies would agree to re-release EV3 with Dawn's original vocals. Maybe release a triple disc version: one disc with the final album we got, a 2nd with the original album, and a third with any unreleased (and the other internationally released) songs & bonus features.
@@JamaicanFlavaThanks for the information, appreciate it greatly. Much of the songs on EV3 were definitely recorded in 1996, especially how songs such as Damn I Want To Be Your Lover and Too Gone Too Long have '96 origin dates in their copyright registrations. Think they actually went back to the studio, before Don't Let Go was even released. Pretty stupid how Sylvia Rhone waited until the very last minute, to force commitment. Why she didn't demand this commitment early in the EV4 development process and early marketing of Don't Let Go (fall 1996), never made any sense? Have them record all of that new material for months and then box them in last minute with bad terms, was shady.
@@nwezetx1 You're welcome! Idk most of the songs were registered in '96, thank you for that info. I agree idk why Sylvia would conduct business that way. That era could've been fruitful for everyone if everything was conducted right.
@@JamaicanFlava Yes, a lot of the album was recorded during promotion of Set It Off and Don't Let Go in 1996. Don't Let Go would've been recorded sometime in the late Spring or Summer of 1996. After seeing the results of the recording, Sylvia pushed them into the studio for an album. During those months was about the time she shelved Dawn's solo project and Dawn forced herself to just get through the EV4 recording process and backburner her solo record. Organized Noise, Foster & McElroy, Ivan Matias, Babyface recorded with them in 1996. The album was targeted for February 1997 release, as said in a late 1996 snippet where they hosted some TV special. By March 1997, it was expected the album would be released in May 1997 and most of the recording completed. The ambush meeting happened and instead of Dawn's plan to be committed through solely the promotion phase of the EV4 album in 1997-98, she saw the 2 year commitment through 1999 as a threat to her autonomy. I'm guessing Elektra thought the EV4 album would be so big, they'd be releasing singles and touring through early 1999, something Dawn didn't see that way. I really don't understand if she thought just recording and releasing the album was enough, for her to branch out into a solo project immediately. If true, that's silly reasoning on her part. A successful album has a shelf life of 1 year on the Hot 100 or even more. If it was about their 360 deal sucking them dry, well that's a different story...
So glad this is back up. I hope a deluxe reissue of EV3 can happen and it includes the original tracks with Dawn's leads and the "Video Version" of Don't Let Go with Terry's ad-libs in the end. I would buy that up so quick. As for the performance. As I've said before this bittersweet to me but they all looked amazing. I wonder if it was this performance that inspired The Muses look for Hercules
Given that the film “Hercules” was released in 1997, it’s highly unlikely. Character design and development are typically in the beginning stages, before animation, which means approximately 2-3 years prior to the release. But I’m sure EV was an influence regardless 💗
@@benfoldsfiveforeverYou're correct, because the Muses were in a preview video from 1996 of Hercules behind the scenes development. I believe Hercules is a project again in 1993 and recording began in 1994-95.
