    Weird Paul - You sure brought back memories for me. I lived in Pgh growing up and went to some of those parks. Of course, every summer I went to Kennywood. I remember buying the tickets at school. It's great to know that Kennywood is still in business. I gotta take a drive up there and see it once more. Thanks for your video, I enjoyed it! See ya -- Atco

    loved these, Paul!! i look forward to the day i can go to Kennywood, i gotta check out that Garfield's Nightmare. the amusement park i have the fondest memories of growing up is Miracle Strip in Panama City Beach, FL. a lot of their rides were carnival rides, like the tilt-a-whirl, but were in buildings where you went under a giant abominable snowman or inside the mouth a devil's head. those rides just aren't the same without the mirrors, strobe lights, and fog Miracle Strip had. sadly they closed it around 2004.

    I have been to amusemnt parks across the country. In Pennsylvania, I've been to Kennywood and Hersheypark. The Phantom's Revenge was a cool ride because you are going through the Thunderbolt at such high speed. Kennywood has so many old school attractions you won't find anywhere else. I still have a photo from 2013 of me and my mother riding the Fahrenheit. I was smiling while my mother had this "OH CRAP!" look when we were dropping down 97 degrees LOL. This was just after my trip to Baltimore.

    I grew up near the Adirondacks in New York, so the theme park that I went to often as a child in the 90's and early/mid 2000's was The Great Escape/Splashwater Kingdom in Lake George NY. It seems quite similar to Kennywood, judging by the films. There was a kiddy section with little houses and a fairytale theme and rides, like mini versions of the adult rides as well as coasters and other things for the over 5 crowd lol. There was also a water park area, that was always so much fun. As a preteen I favored the Splashwater kingdom part more than the rides.
    Another place that I remember going to as a child was the Catskill Game Farm, which has since closed down. It was a petting zoo with some rides, like maybe a carousel and a little kiddy coaster. I can't remember exactly.
    There was also Hoffman's Playland in Albany... that was a great place if you were five and under lol. Often went there for younger cousin's birthdays.
    As a teenager my grandparents lived in Connecticut and I remember we would often go to Lake Quassy. They had boat rides and other typical fair like rides. But I was just getting into my love of vintage games, so the arcade was my favorite there... playing Ms PacMan!

    This video makes me look forward to the day I will be able to bring my young daughters to amusement parks. Confession: I also had a none to brave reaction to the first time I entered a "haunted house" at a Mississippi state fair. When I entered a dark room I heard a very sinister "Bwaa HA HA HAHA HA!" come from the darkness and I bolted out of the entrance. Only in hind sight did I realize that sound came from somebody's dad having some fun and was not an official haunted house sound.

There were also two news items from the past week: one was about how they are planning a new hotel to try to attract their customers back and the other one was an article about one of the crash survivors learning to walk again without her leg.
      I had never heard of Action Park, so I looked that up as well. The deaths that occurred there are well documented on that Wikipedia page!

    Some parks Ive been to are the big ones like Disney World and Universal Studios in Florida, as well as Six Flags Great America here in IL and Cedar Point in OH. Cedar Point used to have a whole Bernstain Bears section but I think they replaced it with Snoopy these days. Some smaller ones near me were Santa's Village & Kiddie Land. We used to always travel to the Wisconsin Dells all the time when I was younger and they had plenty of small theme and water parks: Noah's Ark, Family Land, Splash World, and Big Chief Go Kart World. Noah's Ark is still open but the others have either closed or been combined into Mount Olympus. Also, did not know you had a child Paul, major news dropped on me in this video. What is stale air though? Is it like the air that smells bad?

    • @weirdpaulp
      @weirdpaulp 8 лет назад

      +Luigitimeless Yeah it can smell bad. Basically it's air that is trapped somewhere for awhile and doesn't circulate. This air was in some kind of pump and it was released at you in a big puff.

    • @weirdpaulp
      @weirdpaulp 9 лет назад

      Daniel Lacombe I was 25 when my son was born - same age my dad was when I was born! I had never heard of "frontiertown" so I looked it up. We actually have something similar to that here in PA where I have been, the place is called Old Economy Village.

    • @weirdpaulp
      @weirdpaulp 9 лет назад +1

      Gustavo Garcia Yes I only have a few videos like this one, I have one about the Disney Cruise: ruclips.net/video/gTK0_A8khKc/видео.html and one about Sea World: ruclips.net/video/Yf1pQaS7tW8/видео.html . I believe my grandmother was the one who kept lots of stuff first. She died when I was 7. My mother took after her and also kept lots of stuff. There is a photo somewhere of me when I am very small, maybe 3 years old and I am carrying a bag from a loaf of bread. I had cut pictures out of the newspaper and kept them in the bag.
