Umm Jesus never existed. But if he did according to the Bible and the jesus story, this is what he wanted to happen and was supposed to happen. That child was born just to die this way- predestination. He's allegedly omnipresent, omniscient- all knowing and everywhere. So actually it's his fault this happened. Why pray to something that wanted and allowed all the tragedies in existence?
