    A Place to Stay
    Dir. Charlie Polinger
After stumbling upon photos of drag performers in the 1950s, Writer/director Charlie Polinger found his curiosity triggered. Research increased his interest and after reaching out and speaking to these artists, he was totally invested. Forming this new found knowledge into a moving and complex tale of heartbreak, within the societal constraints of the time, Polinger crafted A Place to Stay - a period piece with a contemporary approach. - S/W Curator, Céline Roustan

That was hard to watch, but still happens today. I just wished daddy would have said, “ the boy thinks he’s in love with me.” I would have wanted to hear what Mom would have said. Please, please, make this a series 🙏

The film doesn't really look like it's set in the 1950s. The main character's hair shouldn't be curly, it wouldve been straightened back then. It looks too modern. The wife's hair is too flat for the time period and her pearls look fake. The husband's hair also doesn't look right. And the way the characters talk sounds too contemporarh. I know it sounds shallow, but visuals are important for immersion.

How much queer content do we need?
    Haven't we seen enough already?
No offence. It's just too much.

after decades of not getting our stories showcased, unfortunately for you there's a lot of catching up to do! feel free to watch other films that aren't queer, there's plenty out there for you :)

It's partly because its pride month, and i think partly because a lot of creatives especially in theatre and acting identify as queer. you can just scroll by, or watch some other stuff that they've posted before that isn't lgbt

It's because you get noticed when you do queer content. So, many filmmakers choose to create these stories. It's not representative at all.

@@Lizlaliz As somebody who has made queer films which didn't get me noticed, I can assure you this isn't the case! These queer films you talk about are showcased because... they are good films. I'm sorry if you don't think they are, but luckily there's plenty of non-queer films out there for you, which you might enjoy! :)
