From the uk and I got into a rabbit hole of watching dam removal videos in the US a few years ago(which I found fascinating). In my humble opinion a common theme is it takes a long time to get to completion but the level of Federal, State Govt Agency but also local interest and indigenous peoples involvement is really impressive. Best wishes from across the pond and thanks for a brilliant commentary!

I visited the dam back when the idea of removing it was controversial. This project has helped this river and inspired so many other projects. It's wonderful to see how it looks now.

This looks like the lower dam site. There's also an upper dam site which has some ruins and remnants of the old.dam

It's wondeful and amazing to see how the river has rapidly re-taken a natural appearence! And thinking its discharge is now 100% natural and not any more influenced by humans is just magic. Many dams should be removed and many rivers made free again all over the world, starting by my continent, Europe, and my country, France!
