Do you have any information for Chestnut Trees, I had a soil test done, the only thing that is low is Nitrogen. I'm going to be planting very young Chestnut trees.
Any help would be Greatly Appreciated

Thank you for this video! I made a stupid mistake and didn't realize the fertilizer that was bought was much stronger than I wanted. I noticed early and have been watering deeply. There is some leaf damage, but i think the new leaves emerging leaves are looking healthier.
I will have to monitor these plants for the season, I think, but I think the damage has been largely reduced.

Glad it was helpful! Keep doing what you are doing and hopefully the tree will recover quickly.

Ah gosh, thank you so much, I sprinkled concentrated fertilizer over my grass and watered it in like a dummy thinking it would work the same (I was missing a watering can and my grass was dying all over), but I ended up stressing my 15 year old cherry tree to the point of gummosis and I feel absolutely terrible! My tree is sentimental to me and I hope if I flush it it'll feel better. I couldn't tell what went wrong until the leaves started browning like this. A painful lesson to not disregard instructions for sure, I have an awful greenthumb... Thanks for helping me save my tree.

Established trees can be strong. I’m always surprised at how well they bounce back with a little love!💕

Hi, accidently I overfertilised my peach tree , plum tree , apricot tree and cherry tree ,
they are all in pots. I waites for the blooms and its over a month now ..nothing ,
in March I pruned them nicely and then added NPK 5/5/5 which i think was a lot , initially al of them started to make buds , the plum tree even blossomed two or three flowers and after that just stopped ....I have pulled my cherry and apricot tree out from pots and put them in water for now (two days already )
is there anything else I need to do ? hope to get a reply from you as soon as possible... u r the only one who talked clearly about over fertilised plants a next time i would be careful in addung fertilulisers

Sorry for the delay! hopefully you figured something out. Here is my reply: Over-fertilizing can stress your trees, but you’re on the right track by flushing them with water. You may also consider repotting them in fresh, well-draining soil in the fall once they are dormant. Avoid fertilizing again for a while and give them time to recover. Best of luck! 🌳😊

    Great presentation, perfect.
I have questions regarding potassium toxicity: 1. will watering (flushing) the plant's soil correct the toxicity regarding potassium, 2. will losing the leaves over winter correct the toxicity, or will I see the symptoms in the spring leaves.
    Thank you.

You can wash it out but it may take time. I’d do a soil test though after flushing out the soil. It’s good to know where you stand and the lab might recommend amending to bring the soil back into balance. Soil tests aren’t expensive and if you are growing a perennial crop like fruit trees, it’s good to know that your tree has what it needs. You may only have to test one. If the soil is balanced, just amend annually by mulching with compost in the spring.

My trees are in managed turf areas, how can I prevent the trees from 'over eating'?

    • @Orchardpeople
      @Orchardpeople 2 года назад +1

What a great question Wayne! The answer is to pull back the grass and remove it up to the edge of the canopy. Make a nice mulch circle (learn about mulches here: orchardpeople.com/fruit-tree-mulch/) and then the turf team won't apply fertilizer there! Tell me if you think that might be possible.

It is possible except around the newer young plantings that are surrounded by low fencing.
