Those of us who work or worked on the mountains would have close calls with lightning. But we didn't have a choice. We got used to it and basically all we could do was go to our vehicles if they were near or ignore it.

Me and my dad were looking out our bay window when lightening struck less than ten feet away. I remember this god awful pain in my ears. It felt like someone took a plunger, stuck it on my ear, and then yanked it off and the suction is what I felt. It’s bizarre but that’s the only way I can explain it. The scariest part was we both went temporarily blind. I remember frantically saying “dad I can’t see!” And reaching my arms out for him. Little did I know, he also couldn’t see. It was this terribly blinding white light for what felt like ten minutes. Finally I started seeing these weird blue spots popping up in the white light, and they started to flash little into glimpses of the world around me. The blue flashes for bigger and bigger and eventuality faded completely to being able to see again. It was terrifying.

they fkd up the logic there!! lol everybody know that during lightning you should get away from trees and rivers ( even ocean) because both of them attract lightning , and these guys litelary did both of them

Y'all need to relax, Tim is correct. My grandfather lost half his ring finger and I only have a couple memories of him, because of that missing finger. It might have sucked at the time for him, but he died when I was 4 and lived 3 hours away, so I really think without the missing finger, I would only have pictures and stories instead of memories. These three have an awesome story and scars to prove it that may just make their suffering worth it because of someone else.

    • Brie 🇺🇦
      Brie 🇺🇦 Year ago +1

“Might as well look at it as brightly as possible”. That’s easy, considering when struck you go temporarily blind and instead of seeing darkness, you see an overwhelmingly bright white light lol.

hearing loss is only temporary. It's what happens when subjected to loud noise, and the heat from the electricity blew some of the veins in the ear. Same thing as shellshock. It can clear up in days, or weeks, or rarely, months.

A family member of mine has been struck by lightning, not once, not twice, but 3 times, no bs. I have some change that was in his pocket the last time he was struck, it literally melted the coins, even quarters. When it's a T-storm and thundering and lightning, no body wants to be around him even if it means being very rude to him, but it's clearly attracted to him.

They are going to regret having survived. The damage done may take years to manifest. Your body is not designed to have that much electricity pass through it without long term effects. I personally know of 3 people who got hit and wished they didn't survive due to the pains they endured for years afterward.

We get bad lightening storms in Charleston. Last July 4 I was sitting out under a tree when the pine Beside me was struck. Tom begged me to come inside. I was taken to a hospital where I yelled for a month. My horse as a child born on the forth was also named lightening. So I am messmirized by storms. I was not hit but almost. Ben Franklin worked with kites trying to channel electricity. 4 th. Fireworks and listening are common in July.
