I’m a Vanvleet fan, followed him since HS, but I agree, so far this season, he has underperformed a bit. I wonder if this particular season is more stressful as it leads to likely his largest NBA contract next year. Playing with a little more stress mentally can translate physically. I agree that perhaps playing fewer minutes keeps him fresh and lowers his stress level. They did that this last week, and it has made a difference. 30-35 min. a game this year seems like his optimal playing time until he is fully healthy.
I like FVV too but its time to have a new floor leader that can maximize offense and most importantly DEFENSE. I'd like to have a PG that is fast and can keep up with the likes of maxey, long athletic that can guard. Someone that is vocal too when out on the floor, someone that can show emotions too to carry the team to keep fighting.
I think Fred will really go to another level once he leaves because of too many minutes by Nick Nurse.. He needs a change period.. He could help many teams go to the championship..

What this team needs first and foremost is a REAL PG who can guard the point of attack or it's going to continue to be a open runway to the rim or a kickout to the corner 3 when the defence collapses, regardless of who the center is. If I hear one more person say that Scottie is a PG will will slap them hard across the face. He CANNOT guard PGs. They blow past him. Secondarily they need a center who can play behind Koloko once he is ready. The Pelicans would be the dream team as far as trades go. I'm crushing on Dyson Daniels. There is no chance they trade him and Jaxson Hayes unless OG is involved. I don't see how Orlando would work. They stink and will stink for at least 2 more seasons after this one. So, why would Fred re-sign there? He wants to win not be in contention for the top pick every year. Unless they offer him the max, then greed might take precedence. I don't want Ayton from the Suns. $30M+/yr is too much to pay for a center when you have Koloko waiting in the wings. Ayton wants to be central to whatever team he ends up on. Not be Koloko's understudy. He's already unhappily getting paid in Phoenix, so why would he be happier here? I'd rather have Jaxson Hayes than him. He fits the timeline and payroll. We need young players - 1st-3rd yr - who have yet to come into their own and 1st rd draft picks within the next 2-3 yrs. Most imporatntly, we need to LOSE this season. A Top 10 pick and a lottery ticket get's us a real PG or one of the Thompson twins, at least. Anyone who wants us to get into the playoffs this season are the same ppl who were whining about not making the playoffs in Tampa. They have been oddly silent since we got the #4 pick. Your point is a good one, maybe being in a contract yeah added more pressure to him and with his heavy workload it kinda just compounded
