Great question! Fifty years ago, we didn't need DACs to produce an analog signal. Today, recording engineers convert analog signals to a bitstream of numbers (ones and zeroes). That series of numbers is a digital audio signal. In order to listen to it, you need to convert it back to an analog signal. Without a DAC, we wouldn’t be able to enjoy digital audio’s portability and convenience. Hi, quick question my friend. On my tablet, would I "disable USB audio routing", or would I keep it running, to connect my tablet or my smartphone directly into my portable turntable?? I just looked it up, and figured out how to go to the "developer options", on my tablet, and disable USB audio routing. And I'm pretty sure that my tablet does work with OTG USB, but im not sure about USB Host. But this whole thing is confusing, and there's one thing stopping me from using my Mixfader, and Mixfader Prolink with my portable reloop spin turntable. A lot of portable turntables are built with the "USB PC data connection cable slot, built into the turntable. But my Reloop Spins power source is a "micro USB" connection. So I am trying to figure out how to utilize my tablet, or even my Stylo 4 smartphone, but if I have to, my tablet, and have it connected directly to my portable reloop spin turntable, and then have my speakers connected to the Mixfader Prolink output connection, and also have a jack running from the turntable to the Mixfader Prolink, and then either some headphones, or any other device to the other remaining Jack on the Mixfader Prolink, which the Mixfader Prolink is a really small awesome sound card, basically, that was built by Mixfader, to connect to the Mixfader crossfader through "Bluetooth 4.0". So basically, the Mixfader crossfader will connect to the Mixader Prolink, through Bluetooth 4.0, where the mixed fader pro link is a external sound card. And in that Mixfader Prolink sound card, there are three slots for 3.5 audio jacks. The Mixfader Prolink comes with three small 3.5 Jack cables, and one is supposed to run directly into the headphone jack on the tablet or smartphone, directly from the Mixfader Prolink, the other cable is supposed to run into the turntable, which is obviously connected to the Mixfader Prolink as well, and then there's one output Jack designed for either headphones, or a speaker or speakers. And where my Reloop Spin Portable Turntable doesn't have the USB PC data cable, like the Numark PT-O1 one or the Vestax Handy Trax, which are known for connecting to a PC or computer. I've been trying to figure out exactly how to connect my Reloop Spin portable turntable to my tablet, so that it will run the digital vinyl option on the Mixfader app, which will allow me to switch between either digital vinyl, or regular vinyl, while utilizing the Mixfader app. The Mixfader app is like a DAW app, that you would see on a PC, but actually works on a smartphone or tablet.
