What's funny is that with stab + galvanize boost explosion is still lower power than explosion when it halved the opponents defense. Now imagine if that nerf never happened. It would be hilarious to be able to throw off a 900 power move turn 1.
If you tera electric and use choice band you get an effective base 900, if you then use that move on say gyarados under electric terrain you get effective base 5400 which is completely unessacary but fun to think about
One gimmick I used was Galvanize Explosion next to Unburden-Weakness Policy-Endure Hawlucha to essentially give it a Shell Smash-equivalent boost while also nuking the opponent. I then paired it with Armor Tail Farigiraf to protect the now 1HP Hawlucha from priority moves and it basically ensured that it would be able to get at least one attack off before fainting, which would very likely KO with its sheer power. Add Drain Punch and Acrobatics as its main stab to give it good power and at least a little self-sustainability and Sinistcha to redirect moves and heal Hawlucha with Hospitality, and it made an otherwise very weak Pokémon into a very powerful win condition.
You couldn't Tera your Alolem because you'd already Tera'd your Rabsca. Speaking of, dare you risk it all and give Rabsca Imprison over Psychic? Block their protects (and reverse Trick Rooms) so they can't stop your baby boomer. It's a hyper offense team so if Rabsca isn't enabling Alolem then it probably isn't going to seal the game with a weak attack.
so galvanize choice band, tera electric explosion in terrain would be 1.5 x 2 x 1.2 x x 1.3 x 250 = 1170 base power. hit a mantine with this move and it’s 4680 base power
Rockenheimer is such a great nickname! Although, not particularly subtle if you're trying to bluff the explosion against your opponent... ;) another great video as always, Foo!

@@sharkcerer I mean that’s not really a problem in terms of power level. The revival blessing was just a fun gimmick foofootoo used to make it work multiple times. Imo, the only real problem is that Mega Glailie can’t use a choice band for the 1.5 power boost.
Imagine if Explosion still behaved like in Gens 1-4 (The target's defense is halved, so now it's a 500 base power move). Alolan Golem would undoubtedly have the strongest immediate damage in the game 💀
In sword and shield I used a belly drum explosion lickilicky and it would catch so many teams off guard. Definitely going to try this team out really well designed!
Imagine if they introduced an item called “swift herb” (like power and white herb) that made it to where the first move you use will have the quick claw effect.
Did you try running imprison on rabsca instead of psychic? i think it's cheesy but sounds very fun lol. and you can deny enemy trick room too if you want to
I love it. I've been thinking about this forever! And in the VGC there's a lack of good, strong ground types. The addition of new grass and ice pokémon really hampered down any ground types.
As soon as I saw Dondozo I knew it was gonna have Soak. I realized awhile how broken that move could potentially be, but never got the chance to use it. Definitely gonna try this team then! And I was laughing my ass off from the Revival Blessings.
alolan golem with charge + electric terrain + magnet item + electric tera + chien po + opponent is soaked (yes it's a lot, just adding onto the overkill at this point. Waste of a tera but whatever lol) + idk flipping give it max attack buffs or something
By your definition of "raw damage", the highest raw damage in Pokémon history was Choice Band Lickilicky using Explosion in gen 4. In most formats post-Explosion nerf, Alolan Golem does have the highest raw damage; however, in gen 7 doubles, Z-Water Spout Kyogre (assuming setting its own rain counts) has slightly more power thanks to the spread damage multiplier.
Well in a single battle the spread damage multiplier does not apply, so that wouldn't be the thing holding Golem's damage back. But I think hydro vortex still would out damage golem even if explosion was single target. So this may be the first generation where Golem is actually the strongest!
@@foofootoo In singles, Choice Specs Water Spout is stronger than Z-Water Spout. Choice Band Alolan Golem is 13.2% more powerful than Choice Specs Kyogre regardless of the format (assuming optimal IVs/EVs). In doubles, however, Waterium Z Kyogre is 4.7% stronger than Choice Band Alolan Golem due to not dealing spread damage, though of course Alolan Golem is still dealing more total damage since it's hitting multiple targets. Now consider this: Lickilicky with Explosion in gen 4 was 32.2% more powerful than Alolan Golem. Explosion halving the opponent's defense was insane.
Haven't really played since the days of triple battles with sapphire and x/y. Back then i recall the potentially strongest moves being protect, wide guard, feint, psych up, heal pulse, trick room, snatch, taunt, and imprison to block multiple moves above. Each of these were capable of flipping matches upside down when used properly usually resulting in rage quits. I recall using an all soundproof pokemon team and having a Japanese perish song team disconnect from me. I got tired of that happening with all my teams, so I stopped playing altogether. Although, it's nice seeing some people out there still trying creative stuff!
Actually they have the same power, but the only difference is that Glalie has to hold its mega stone but golem can hold a damage boosting item. But ice type is generally better for attacking because no pokemon are immune to it
Can I ask why not Pawmot instead of Iron Hands? You get Volt Absorb to avoid Golem's Explosion damage, and you still have a Fake Out and Electric Terrain user. Additionally, you can use Electric Tera with Double Shock to be a heavy damage sweeper in the same way Iron Hands would. You also get a Fighting Type move in Close Combat, and an additional option for Revival Blessing if you wanted to do that a 4th time. For a held item, I'd give it Safety Goggles which gives you an out if your opponent leads Amoonguss while you have Pawmot in the back. Being forced to send out Iron Hands turn 1 vs an opponent with Amoonguss + Flutter Mane could be very disastrous in a tournament setting (where you'll often find Best of 3 styles of games) especially with the new open team sheet format (new as of last year/this generation). Additionally, if they lead Tornadus + Amoonguss, they can Prankster Taunt the Iron Hands and still use Spore from Amoonguss. Following this, we get into mindgames about predicting what Tornadus is going to do and deciding if you want to predict taunt and possibly end up attacking into Protect or if you want to predict Protect and end up setting Electric Terrain. Most-likely they'll think you're going for Fake Out into the Amoonguss but like I said, mindgames. Anyway, what's your thoughts on Pawmot over Iron Hands in this team?
