My kid had taken his apart to try to fix it and was having trouble getting it back together. Your video helped me out and saved the day. Thank you for your help.
Thank you thank you thank you! My lightsaber suddenly stopped registering the kyber crystal and I opened it up to find that exact same brittle data cable broken and I’ve only had it for a week!! With this video you’ve given me hope that I’ll be able to fix it!

I just received 2 chassis from ebay that didn't work. They made the noise when activated and lit up with the crystal but would not light up. This gives me hope. THANKS!

Thanks so much!!
@@maurie4897 have you actually tried new batteries? I’d do that first but if you have then check that the blade is fully inserted. If that’s all good then it’s time to take things apart and check the wiring which isn’t too hard to do.

The clip that secures the cable? What problem was your saber having when you realized you needed to fix it? Mine, after powering it on it keeps powering on. It is trying to shut off and then it reignites again and again with out moving the black button. Thanks for the video.
I was getting the error noise even with the blade plugged in, I suspected the connecting cable as that controls all features related to light and sound effects other than the default no kyber noise. Sounds like your issue could be a switch or cable, the cable is quite easy to check and cheap to replace. It seems to be the weak point on quite a few of these sabers, if taking it apart and removing the battery doesn't fix the issue try replacing the cable next.
So my saber was having an issue where it wasn't registering the blade. I found out it was because the ribbon cable was torn like what you had. I tried getting replacement ones, in fact, I got the exact same ribbon cable you used but it still was not working. It was really acting up. It was only showing green in the crystal chamber, the top lights above the chamber weren't working at all, it wasn't making the Kyber Crystal sound, and for some reason when I activated it, it was making the lightsaber sounds but not lighting up the blade and it never made the sound it makes when you first put the blade in. Would you suggest I should just contact Disney customer service and see if I can get a replacement one directly from them, or maybe find a different option?
Disney told me sorry there is nothing we can do when I contacted them before doing this repair myself so probably not much they will do for you. I'd suggest checking all the connections and trying new batteries if you haven't done that already. The ribbon is the main connector for everything past the on switch, if you have noises for the blade motion but no illumination you may have an LED issue with the blade itself. If the blade is working normally then it could be something with the board itself, the cable is delicate and if you screw it together or pull it apart wrong they can easily be damaged without noticing.
@@CameronScottsChannel Yeah I actually already contacted them today and they said they couldn't do anything. I'm gonna try a different ribbon cable and hope it works. The problem is definitely the ribbon cable, the blade was working just fine before I tore the ribbon cable.
@@CameronScottsChannel Hey there, update on my saber, a few weeks ago I tried a different ribbon cable, it works now. Turns out I had purchased the reverse flow cable instead of direct flow

@@macarelli2097 Sounds like the blade is shorting something out somewhere, if you've checked all the connections from the blade to the board it might be a bad blade but I'm not sure how that could happen. I stupidly unscrewed and pulled out the wrong side while trying to replace the batteries and pulled both the wires and cables out of the socket too far so I can’t put them back. What do I do? I’m also afraid that I might’ve bent the cable by panicking and trying to jam it back

@@CameronScottsChannel nevermind I got it. video helped though. I just pulled the wires out too much so I unscrewed the other side and tucked them into there, the battery pack side since there's a gap there
They don't take returns for repairs at Disney, they won't even help you purchase a replacement or provide parts through their customer support. You're pretty much on your own with a repair unless you can find someone who will perform the repair for a fee.
I believe this is the cable www.amazon.com/SamIdea-60Pieces-Connector-Extension-Terminal/dp/B081V3V9HT someone mentioned in another video but the wires are reversed. It would mean reattaching them to the board in reverse order by color if that’s the case. People are selling parts on Etsy as well.
If you would know I just bought a light saber and after I changed the battery pack all it would do when I tried to turn it on was make a misfire sound nothing else do you have any ideas?
I had the same issue and it was the data cable, they can get pinched and cause the saber to malfunction resulting in the misfire sound and no light to the blade.
Do you know how to fix blade wobble/loose emitter slot? Idk if that's exactly what it is but Idk how else to describe it. When I lightly swing the saber around, I notice the blade has more wobble than before. It keeps disconnecting and reconnecting at the slightest movement, and making that audio clip when you install the blade in the emitter over and over again. When it's turned on it's more noticeable, because the blade light will power on over and over again as it keeps getting disconnected and reconnected. I wrapped a layer of thin tape over the black part of the blade to make it a "tighter" fit in the emitter slot as a temporary solution, but that won't last long as the tape degrades over time and use. Any idea how to fix it?
Most likely it's a defect with the blade attachment or the hilt receiver end. You can check the metal mounting points for damage, if one isn't fitting correctly it will cause the blade to lose a connection.
I dropped my saber and I believe I may have damaged the light bulb. On Disney’s site, it says the bulb cannot be repaired… do you know if that is completely true? Is there any way to save my saber? It was dropped by complete accident and I’ve only had it for a couple months so I would love to save it if possible.
The blade contains all the light elements except the Kyber chamber. It’s more likely damage to the hilt internals. Have you opened it up yet? What does it do? Dead altogether or some noises?
@@CameronScottsChannel I've opened it up, but I will do a more detailed look at it later. It makes no noises at all. I haven't tried changing the batteries yet, so I will definitely do that first. I heard a sound when the saber dropped, so my mind directly went to damage of the light source, but I'll look into other causes
Start with the batteries, even with the blade issue fresh batteries allowed the switch to trigger the error spark noise. Once you determine batteries aren't the issue and it still does nothing it's time to tear it apart and check the cables. There is one data cable and one power cable, the data cable usually can be damaged but still allow the error noise. If the power cable is shot then that may be the issue.
@@jameswirth6299 You would need someone to reattach the clip to the board, maybe an electronics repair store could do it. Otherwise you'd have to get a new board or new hilt on ebay.
My dads is having issues, at first whenever you’d do the action of the saber “hitting” something, it’d just shut off. Not like the normal saber shutting off, it’d just stop lighting up. I figured it was a battery issue, and I just switched them out and now it’s not working at all. I hope I didn’t break it Edit: nevermind there was just some weird white residue in the battery ports and I cleaned it out, it’s working now
