    Thank you so much for all your videos. They all are amazing. Trying to get into the MKII, playing live with my bass, not easy at all.

    Thanks man. I have just come back to the Mk2 after a briefish infatuation with the MPC One.
    This is not to diss the MPC but there is something grainy and textural to the SP that I prefer. I think the future will see me using both. But whereas the Akai is slick as fuck and has this purity of sound, the Roland just has more character.
    If both were at a party, one would be the charismatic borderline sociopath with superficial charm, good stories to paint him in a positive light and conventional good looks.
    The SP would be the funny, interesting, grungier, slightly chaotic, but cooler person who had substance and with whom one would establish a long lasting friendship.
    Or that may be the biggest load of bollocks I’ve ever typed.
    Keep it cool, sir.

      @spvidz  Год назад +1

      lmao 😂. I think the MPC is a slicker beat making machine but I find the SP just more fun and like the access to all the FX. The debate could rage on for years! Both are very capable machines now

    • @benbold
      @benbold Год назад +1

      Yes totally. I think both have their distinct uses. I made a techno acid style track on the MPC that would not have sounded so good on the Roland. I’m pretty chuffed with it.
      But I’m overall more pleased with some of my more amateurish DJ Shadow wannabe tracks using the SP, recorded into a DAW with some dubious live performance and bad timing.
      There’s an ideal relationship somewhere on the cusp. Just need to work out how this ménage a trois works in the long term.

    Thanks for this valuable info! Does anyone think Roland will eventually create a way to maintain a preferred fx configuration for each program? I’m running into problems getting back my fx setup after shutting the device down. I know I can resample, but would prefer to work with adjustable parameters.

    Anotha one! Man I'm hoping they add the ability to edit steps in the TR Rec mode without having to delete and add them. That would be great for editing patterns. I've been using TR rec mode to remove drums for different sections. I'll start with a 4 bar loop and duplicate it, then go into TR Rec mode and take out steps, or I'll delete the last measure and play in a fill in live record. I thought of this because of the TR Rec hi hat thing.

    • @spvidz

      @@spvidz really? On the 3.01 it’s not working for me. WAIT happens on the screen, but pressing a pad does nothing. And I’m not the only one. Check the gear space thread. Are you on 3.00 or 3.01? Works on 3.00. Not on 3.01.

      I only use it with EXT SOURCE. I choose wait, I select a pad to record to and the screen says wait, then when I play the sound down USB (usually from my laptop) it starts recording as soon as it hears a signal. I'm not sure what behavior you are experiencing but that seems right to me
