- Upgrading from 650w 10 year old glacial power psu to a 850W Thermaltake Toughpower GF1. So far the psu seems fine and has no issues! temperatures in my computer are mostly the same. Overall, no complaints!

[00:00] Hi there! It's great to see you upgrading your power supply and cooler. The Thermaltake Toughpower GF1 looks like a solid choice, and it's always exciting to unbox new hardware.
[01:09] The power supply does look sleek, and I'm sure it'll fit nicely into your rig. Those cables can be a bit intimidating, but it's all part of the process.
[05:43] Ah, the backside cable management-always a challenge, especially after seven years. But you're doing great!
[07:05] It's impressive that your old Glacial Power PSU served you well for a decade. Kudos indeed!
[08:10] The Smart Zero Fan feature on the new PSU is interesting. It can help with noise and energy efficiency when the PC isn't under heavy load.
[10:31] Cable management can be a bit tricky, but taking it one step at a time is the way to go.
[13:00] Sorry to hear about the cooler bracket not fitting your motherboard. That can be frustrating, but at least you have a plan for your living room PC.
[14:40] Thanks for sharing your build process with us. Looking forward to seeing your living room PC build video too! Good luck with making this your full-time job. 🖥👍
this case has a whole lot of potential to it and you can make an bad ass cas out of it ....
That's pretty clean for having animals!!
I just ordered this same power supply. The 10 year warranty pulled me in
yep that is a nzxt phantom case. if you do not need so many dvd drives , leave only one and lover it down to the las slot. Grab an old powersuply and take the cover of it where the grid or grill is mounted. Cut the part so that it fits at the front of your pc. Mount to that a 120 mm fan. and now screw that to the upper front part of your case. but before mounting it spray it in the same color of your case.
the door : you can take that door appart and you can cut in it so much that you can mount that mesh stuff on that and then you put the tweo parts togehter again. Now your pc has one mo fan which delivers to the cpu fan even more fresh air .... this is the way i am going with
Fan should face down brotha and im pretty sure you can use the stock amd mounting bracket for that cooler
yea i eventually flipped the fans down, caught that after i put it all together. Also bought that cooler about 8 years ago, so none of the brackets i have fit my current x570 Mobo
Skipped over the entire process I needed to see
tools: a good drill tool and an good cutting tool for metal thats all you need and some red spray if you wanna keep the red look ...
the 4 or 6 pin cable could have been place under the motherboard or you could have cut a custom hole or two in the case that case is not the best for cable management there are much lighter cases out there
i have the same case ( seems like an nzxt phantom ) there is a very easy way to manager cables but it needs a litle mod : you kntoe those for large holes kinda oval shaped ? either you cut them throw and make em larger but keep the oval shape , or you do not cut anything but build ontop of those a cover out of older cases or old broken hifi cases and then you put on the ends of those rubber roundings aswell as some brush material you have similar under some doors which keep dirt out but in the case for a pc it keeps cables from moving around, this new metal plaet you either can conneczt via screws or by literaly weld that to the case but i rather suggest working with screws. same is for the backside : here you can use those cardboard corner protectors which you find f.e in the cardbord bins of hardware stores. you glue two together to create a U form and in that chanel you place your cables....
insdie : if you can find an old hifi part thats your perfect metal source fro which you can make a very good cover for the powersuply and cables which are there. i have planty of old hifi stuff which are broken and thats what i am gonna do
You should upgrade this video. I accidently had disabled Return RUclips Dislike plugin on my web browser before watching this, could have saved me 15 minutes. But in reality, I should have made sure the plugin was installed and working properly before watching these types of videos, so it's really my fault.
Hey I just ordered that same MB and a Coolermaster 212. You sure that bracket does not fit?
I literally got mine a day ago.
The same one? Thats crazy ironic! So happy with it and not having as many cables now
Just grab an Arctic Freezer 34 CO , cheaper and better than the Hyper 212 (I just replaced my aging hyper 212 and it's runs 2-5C cooler)
also works with the stock mounting plate !! easiest mounting system!
grab an AIO. Looks better and performs betters
@@CRAZYKID123454321 Noctua performs better than your AIO and have better lifespan. I'm sorry but someone had to say it. AIO only looks better
Hi man how are you? I want to buy from this product. Do you like the product? Have you had a problem with the product?
How is the GF1 performing now ? And how are the noise levels?
Doing great. Have a 3700x and 3060ti. Also switched into the Nzxt 510 case. Temps are good and any noise isnt from the psu. No complaints
@@NickVanLoon do u have the made in China or Vietnam version ?
@@sahinsiraj6785 I've mostly seen reviews for the made in China version and it seems to be great. I ordered one and if you're interested I can let you know how it is
This video was absolutely no help to me at all.
Awesome! Neither was this comment :)
I wouldn't put that 10 year old power supply in your living room set up with recapping it. At least pull the cover off and see if any caps are bulged, because if they are it will be putting out very dirty power (a lot of AC ripple) to sensitive GPU, CPC, RAM.... The cheap PCUs use cheap caps which don't last anywhere near as long as expensive units. $5 worth of high quality caps will last 15-20 years. GPUs do not like dirty power and won't last long once the PSU filter caps gets really bad. There are thousands of small and even tiny capacitors on the Mobo and attached components, which can't handle the high ripple current from dirty power.
So I just searched for a video for this psu and it turns out you're using the 2080 too 😅
I have a 3060ti now. Also different case and the psu isnt upside down anymore hahaha
how many pcie connectors? 2080ti needs 3
I have a 3080 and there is enough
You should upgrade your gpu. The 3060ti is too weak for the 7950x
gf vs gf1. which is better
i may get the same psu how is it still running
Not a great video. You didnt show where all the cables go into the psu
This is not meant to be a how to video, or do I state that it is. Simply just a unboxing and quick install. If you need to know where to plug in each cable, there are many sites online that give great walkthroughs. If you would like a recommendation on where to plug in all the cables, I would be happy to lead you in the correct direction.
how has the psu held up since this video?
Great!! Have had no issues. For the price, im not complaining one bit
How ur psu after 2 years still Ok?
Have a amd 7950x and a 3060ti now. Runs them no problem :) great psu
also as a better cooling option i would go for a deep cool water cooler system they are around 80 dollars and there universal fit
