@@grieferoncamera4600 they’re basically the same ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@kakalimukherjee3297 bro what 😂😭💀
Relatable,
I also really like popcorn when I'm high on cocaine
Well here’s the real secret ingredients that theaters use:
- Refined coconut oil that has been dyed yellow with beta carotene. This makes the popcorn look buttery.
- Flavacol popcorn seasoning. It is mostly super fine salt like you made, but also has some extra seasoning to give the popcorn a super buttery flavor.
I make it at home and it tastes identical. The only difference is that it isn’t a yellow because I don’t use coconut oil that has been colored. Just melt the coconut oil and add the kernels + Flavacol at the same time. You want to make sure that you stir it immediately to get the Flavacol evenly mixed into the oil. As it pops, it gets seasoned. You just need to keep it moving as it pops. Turns out great!
Underrated
Whoa thanks man! I was looking for a detailed recipe like this.
I hate to say, your comment is underrated
🙂
lmao this is exactly what we used when i worked at a movie theater. two big scoops of orange salt and pumps of oil
Add a little bit of tumeric, you wont be able to taste it and it will color the popcorn yellow
Ooh I still need to watch that movie! How was it?
So the algorithm gods sent you too
im surprised that you’re here lol
It’s good, big recommendation!
Ahh two of my fav RUclips foodies!!
I wish there was a way to invest in RUclipsrs like a stock haha. Had a feeling you would blow up Lisa, keep it up.
That scream though 😂
- Aiiiahhhh-
I thought only I noticed it

Lol
dont care
Here in Australia, one of the cinema chains uses a very processed salt called 'butter salt' and it's super fine like this example. They also use a very yellow palm oil (no idea if it's ethically sourced, probs not 🙃) that is the main factor in the colour and flavour of the popcorn (an ex-cinema worker).
0:41 this is why I hate cooking, the food fights back 😭
Making popcorn is not cooking
My mom uses a stir crazy with coconut oil. Once she's popped it, she puts Orville popcorn oil on the top and Sam's club brand popcorn salt (Flavacol also works) on top of the oil to get it to stick. It is super delicious!
I worked at Regal theaters and we used a butter flavored coconut oil to cook the popcorn with a superfine yellow salt!
Is it just me or does anyone else smile like an idiot hearing her talk? The way she sounds so happy and passionate about what she does just makes you want to be happy and puts you in a good mood overall. 👉👈😶💛
Yessssss completely agree. She’s such a mood booster
How do like that voice? It annoys the life outta me.
Yess it makes me so happy!!
whoever doesnt like her voice just dont watch her ok no one is making u
no im more annoyed with it haha sorry
A Quiet Place 2 is really good ✋😩
FLAVACOL and butter flavored oil are what give theater popcorn its signature taste. Readily available online or at some restaurant supply stores.
Nothing beats homemade popcorn on the stove. I like the old fashioned way, not to say microwave popcorn is bad. But homemade you can control how much salt and butter you want and it makes me feel proud to do things the old way.
I used to work at a movie theater, we got free popcorn and now I'm tired of it.
Same. After snacking on them so many times you start to realize they don't really fill you up or give you energy. After a while they start to taste like nothing. Best not to eat them so often. Same goes for french fries.
@@LBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLBLB I used to eat them during my break when I didn't wanna spend money on real food. They were good at first but after I quit from there even just the smell of fresh popcorn gives me a headache, especially if it's the butter movie theater kind 🤢
I've worked at two movie theaters and if you want real movie theater popcorn go to amazon and buy the carton of "flavacol" its the popcorn season and its $7. while you're on amazon buy coconut oil thats flavored butter, because the "butter" at movie theaters is really just coconut oil. so when you cook it on your stove put the oil (be generous cause theaters use a lot of oil) and maybe a tablespoon or two of the popcorn salt and let it cook in the oil and salt. you're welcome :)
I can make both really well.
Movie style and home style. My wife prefers the home style. Happy wife, happy life 💖
I agree with the other comments. Flavrcol powder is quite cheap and it's what we used with the liquid popcorn oil like reddenbaker type in the store people loved it at the bar I worked in.
One lady sent her hubby in once to buy a bag from us as his pregnant wife was craving it but the movie theater was closed it was 2 am lol
We popped a fresh batch for her and the rest of the bar chewed the fresh hot popcorn. They had the big machine too
Same thing works for powdered sugar. Just blend regular sugar instead.
Wears out your blender blades though.
I love quiet place sm
I get flavacol at my local food service store and it makes perfect movie theater popcorn
Oh man, I just got into making popcorn on the stove lately. Flavacol works well. Orville redenbacher also sells popcorn oil that works well. On top of that there's like a bajillion varieties of popcorn, found some cool purple hulled popcorn that tastes really good.
i make popcorn using kernels, then drizzle olive oil + salt, and shake it up. it tastes amazingggggg! pls try it guys!
Im going to the movies in some weeks I must try this
I use ramen sauce packets to season my popcorn sometimes cause lots have tiny bits of powdery salt in there and it gives a nice flavour depending on which you choose!
These kind of videos always make me hungry
I work concession at a theater and I’ll say this: we just use oil and a butter salt that’s very powdery, that’s it.
We get a scoop of seed, pour it in the kettle, get a scoop of the salt, sprinkle it it, press a button that makes the oil pour, then we close the kettle.
If you don’t want to mess with grinding salt you can buy popcorn salt at the grocery store. It’s super fine just like the movie theaters.
I dont understand... I thought cinema popcorn was always sweet. I have never seen popcorn in the cinema that is salty
@@Mark-ww1vf I’m in the U.S. and here it’s traditionally served savory with salt and butter (or butter flavored oil actually). We do have sweet popcorn like caramel corn or kettle corn but I’ve personally never seen them available in a movie theater.
@@purpellnurpell8095 ohh, I thought sweet popcorn was the standard in most countries.
@@Mark-ww1vf It may very well be. I’ve heard people from other countries mention before that their theater popcorn is sweet. Maybe we’re just the oddballs 😋
I use Flavacol that I get at Sams club and butter flavored coconut oil. This is as close as you can get to theatre popcorn without buying the popcorn machine packets. The liquid popcorn butter at the store is not the same thing.
I have a popcorn making machine! Idk if it will stick but i can drizzle some caramel on top, add salt and then it will be like salted caramel ❤️🩹
You need coconut oil with beta-carotene for yellow color and flavacol for salt. This is the secret recipe.
pickling salt is super fine, too.
Using ghee is the best, you still get the butter flavor, but without the moisture of regular butter making the popcorn soggy instead of crunchy.
i worked at the movie theater here is why it tastes better
1 fine salt
2 corn oil good quality
3 its all about the popcorn it self the movie theater ones are huge compare to the sizes of the other in the market
Oo I love the ending of the quiet place 2!
Well apparently it's something else like there butter and if im remembering correctly a type of powder but it wasn't salt. It made taste so distinctive and better tasting then the popcorn you get from the store I wish I can know what it is but at the same time sometimes it's better to not know things sense its a secret and that's what makes taste good for a example the French fries. From McDonald's there distinctive and it doesn't taste like anything else that you get from the store or any other locations. And that what it makes you keep on wondering and guessing what do they add to the food to make taste delicious.
Try adding MSG or vegetable powder, it makes it twice as good.
I recently found out it's a specific salt called flavacol. It's the most unhealthy thing, so be mindful of how often you have it, but as anything, having it once a month or so won't kill you
Meg Griffin is my favorite popcorn chef/ teacher
subbed on this one bit!
The real secret is flavacol a fine butter flavored salt
Just buy flavacoil online, and leeann butter topping, Ive worked at a few theatres and that’s most of their go tos
LMFAO THE LITTLE SCREAM
A little hack for you to try on your next video: Mama Sita's tamarind sinigang powder on popcorn!
I haven't had popcorn in forever, this looks tasty.
I actually put the salt on the corn before popping it.
It’s called fry salt. They sell it at the grocery store.
I managed a movie theater for 5 years so I can tell you the REAL secret to that “movie theater taste”. It has absolutely nothing to do with the salt. The main thing you HAVE to have is canola oil. You must pop it in canola oil, and if you REALLY really want it to taste exactly like the movies. You add in a special seasoning powder called Flavacol BEFORE it starts popping. So in this order; add seed, oil, seasoning, and then apply heat
That Pop and Scream. 😂
I remember a lady once asked for a small cup of our theatre salt it (Flavocol, A brand of very fine orange colored salt). I warned her that it's super salty compared to the normal stuff, but she insisted. She came back 10 minutes later to ask for another popcorn saying it's to salty. Be careful with this stuff!
Im surprised there weren't many people at my theaters
Yup. Flavcol + Coconut Oil = Movie Theater Style Popcorn
I loved a quiet place 2
Holy crap a quiet place is my favpurite horror movie
Amazing
Even with this video, my asian mother will still bring homemade popcorn.
As a theater worker I can confirm that’s pretty close
Because:
1.the flavour
2.the flavour
3.all of the above
Coconut oil and clarified butter, and the salt haha
its the money that makes it taste good . m o n e y
That scream tho 😂
0:41 Being attacked by the popcorn
0:44 Exacting revenge
What makes is delicious is actually the price
5here is something called BROWN BUTTER 😱😱😱😱😱
I have theater popping oil and salt. Yet, it still does not taste the same. I knew a guy at a former job who is a professional clown. One day he brought in his platform (theater type) popper because someone had to fix it. Then he popped us amazing theater/carnival popcorn. I asked him what he used, and he actually gave me one of the packs. Simply popcorn and the special oil. I saved it until I popped it in my West Bend Stir Crazy electric popper - NOT THE SAME. Something about the heat generated and the popping pan which makes it good - not just the ingredients. I still make great popcorn, but not like the theater in spite of having the ingredients.
Girl my grandparents made me and my sister so much popcorn the size of Kim's back passageway
Try a mixture of coconut oil and the butter
they use fine butter salt and fine salt. u put vegetable oil on a pan and mix the salt in there, when its heated up u put in popcorn and wait for it to pop, make sure u dont burn it or over do it. my dad works in the fast food industry, and he makes this at home, its just like theather popcorn.
your scream at 0:40 , lol
When I make it a home, butter... that’s it. Just butter.
A little known fact. Popcorn is Mexican food.
00:51 that’s what my mom says when she compares her home cooked meals
You can reduce the amount of salt needed by by adding 10% MSG. Trust me it 5 times more flavorful
Never knew salty popcorn existed, i only had sweet popcorn
Someone threw a piece of popcorn at me on a field trip at the movie theaters and it tasted disgusting, I’ll never forget that flavor of popcorn
poor you lol
That "Bruh" in the end xd
Kfc salt uses the same trick but it has sugar in it.
Add garlic powder its even more bomb
I love sweet popcorn, no joke.
Plot twist, movie theaters don't spend 20 minutes to just make some popcorn, instead they get it premade.
Who heard the scream lol
Awesome! Btw did u guys hear the scream in the video lol 😂!
Omg I love the quiet place I just watched the second with my family it was so good Can’t wait for the third!
really fine salt huh?
DAD WHERE YOUR COCAIN STASH AT?
I got an ad for caramel popcorn before the video lol
Some of us like sweet popcorn
salty popcorn?! SALTY?! That's heresy! Popcorn needs to be sweet!
Was the movie The S*icide Squad or A Quiet Place 2?
Edit: im an idiot, it was A Quiet Place 2
there’s a thing called flavocol
Is salt popcorn the default in the US? I grew up in germany with sweet popcorn, only ones tried salt and really disliked it
"What makes movie theater popcorn so good?"
*Shows crack like substance*
How did that burn at 0:41 feel?
I did not know that

I love that I came across your video, you do what your heart desires bub and don’t be embarrassed because someone else looks at your opinion wrong your certificates are just paper granted you worked hard for them as you was explaining but your life is only “once” When you were talking about how to do right with meditation it works and once I can travel the world and seeing gods creation it’s going to be so beautiful; Go see what you can see and don’t worry about a set time; god bless you and your little family🙂🌄💜🙏
Wait… you were watching Quiet place 2 and all you could think about was popcorn? Was the movie that bad? And why did your popcorn turn black??
