What would you guys charge for a cleanup this size? This was the biggest job we've ever done to day for fall cleanups, so it way out of our comfort zone! PS, thanks to the Kobel Bro's for helping us out! Check them out on RUclips bit.ly/36oc8EE
2100 just to blow them plus later to pick up and dump. 30 man hours plus dump fees. You need to make sure you charge for all that equipment too. 1500 not enough bro
I'm working on a 5acre property right now by myself. It's my elderly neighbor that pays me hourly to keep his yard in nice shape. Back half is outlined with thick hickory forest and there are about 35 trees in the front. I have an 8hp walk behind blower, a br600, tarps and his zturn to drag loads to the treeline in the back. Hoping to get a decent vac and trailer for next year.
Mulch that strip of leaves up more and use the mower like a dozer to push them into huge piles, time cut in half and can fit more in the trailer. Love your videos bro!!! Keep em coming!!!
I am a business owner myself. And with huge jobs I think your “first” one around you always lose. But then when you get one like that under your belt it makes estimates easier and more accurate
Hey Brian, love the Chanel!!! I have an idea for a video for you You should do a video on what you do to your equipment to winterize it! This is what l do I run stabilizer through all me equipment a month before putting it away Then l power wash all the equipment Then l sharpen all the blades The l paint all the decks 2 coats with a rust paint Then any mower with straight fuel l run the tank dry and for mix fuel machines I fill up the tanks with stabilizer and fuel Then take all the batteries out of all the mowers And park everything in the trailers and lock them up for the winter And we change the oil in the spring That’s what l do to winterize my lawn care equipment You should do a equipment put away video Take care all the best
You should really look into a DFS (dump from seat) bagger. Blow everything into the grass, suck it up with the mower, and dump it at the curb. Then suck it up with the loader. Mower will shred the leaves once, then they get shredded again through the loader. Nothing left but dust and no climbing in the box to pack it down. It’s defiantly slower to suck up, but you have 1/4 the volume to suck up.
Brian, I enjoyed the video. I use my turf tiger and drop the deck all the way down to push up piles. You could have done this to make your pile narrower and forgone the guy racking behind the vac. I hope this helps save some time.
I was wondering if you had your Kujo boots on.... Guess not! I probably would've charged $2500-$3000 based on your man hours. Dump fees alone for me would be in the several hundred dollars range. If I had to do a job like that, I think it might've taken me longer as I would have to tarp them and smash them into my trailer, so it would be several trips to the dump. I'm really hoping to have a Billy Goat for next year. You are the inspiration!
Big job. You know when people are willing to pay that kind of money for a leaf clean up you are in the right neighborhood. More importantly that one wheel camera action was pretty cool.
Bro you definitely need a stand on blower if your doing those hoa’s and large private properties like that. That is a huge job. A leaf plow would be a big help too if your not ready to take the plunge on the blower.
Agreed. We're in NY, 1.5 hours out from the city and that would be $75.00/ hr per man - equipment. $2250.00 Definitely cut the time down with the big walk behind blowers.. Great job job and it looked nice. Alan
You should get a small price of plywood that's maybe 3x3' and use that to help pack down the leaves. Jump on that and give you more surface area to pack down at a time
Try sticking the vacuum hose into the trailer. It will shred them even more. We do that and it only takes a few minutes to really reduce the volume of leaves.
Brian....i have to agree with james zell, there are a number of ways to mulch that property...and iv'e seen you do videos on them..those leaves spread out on the grounds would be perfect to mulch...but there seems to be this mindset that bigger is better by a lot of guys...but there are a lot who mulch like i have for 23 yrs now..simply put..less time/less expense/more profit/no sticker shock for your clients/they will love you and never let you go...its just a smarter not harder thing pro bro..love your videos!
I live on a 1 acre property with 2 oak trees (around 200-250 feet each), and 4 Sycamore trees (about 75 feet each). When we used to have our landscapers do our cleanups, it was a flat fee of $250 (I think it was that, my parents took care of the payments and such, I was around 14 or so when we last had a cleanup done by our landscapers). That was only to blow the leaves to the curb for the town to collect. Last year, we got a new landscaper because the previous one would only show up for payments, his employees were EXTREMELY rude to me and my parents, wouldn’t listen to a thing I would say. Me being the “homeowner” and who takes care of the lawn, I knew we had to change. Our new landscaper is a one man band and doesn’t have the equipment to handle all the leaves our property makes. (He only has an Echo PB-770 (I think that’s the model)), but either way, there’s no way he’s going to get our property done, alone at least. I decided to purchase a Husqvarna 360BT and a Billy goat 6 blower. Not the biggest and most powerful equipment out there, but for me doing it alone, I can get the property done in about 3-4 hours on a good day.
Couldn’t do it. I would run out of podcasts in the first few hours 😂 can’t believe there’s not more lawn care guys out there like you, Paul and the few others doing them!
That was amazing!!!!😮 I charge $55 a man hour for jobs like that. Overall price would be close to the $1500 you charged. Those billy goats are pretty amazing. I like all size cleanups. Ones that get the debris close to the curb or the truck are preferred.
3000 is what you should have said, If they said no, lower it to 2500, or just don't do it. Seemed like wealthy neighborhood. Talk to all local owners and everyone slowly raise your prices together. Your work is worth more
Ryan Dann Are you advising people to participate in collusion? Working with your competition to set market rates is most certainly illegal and unethical.
I agree 1500 for me would have been way too low. Double that at least. 30 man hours if im at a property for 10 hours straight, i dont take lunch or smoke breaks, its a 1300 bill.
@@TriDaddy if u anyone expects a company to be at their house for 10 to 12 hours with a crew of guys and to remove 25 yards of leaves for anything under 2k... here's a rake and some bags do it urself. 25 yards of shredded leaves is prob close to 75 or 100 think of a 53 ft tractor trailer loaded. Yeah, I was definitely thinking around $2,650.00. I've got a 7'x16' dump trailer with the leaf vac with the provided hours you said, trip charge, waste fee, and just the potential fuel use.
Brian, seriously when you are doing that big of leaf jobs take you mower put the mulch plate on it and mulch the leaves up making them smaller. You will get more leaves in your dump trailer. When the leaves are mulched you will be surprised how much more you can get into the trailer. I will mow, mulch and then bag leaves. It reduces the amount of bags I have and it does a better job at cleaning up the yard and the grass.
Cutting them up makes it slower to blow if they're dry they'll push em forever. The shred he gets is killer and it's not worth putting hours on a 15k lawnmower for something I can pay a guy 15 an hr to do more with a tarp and rake
Tip for them on packing the dump trailer good... Fill it up, drive around the block, and repeat 2-3x. Saves you from getting in and spending more time stomping on it.
Brian do you have a Billy goat or Little wonder? If no that will cut your time in half. I use my mower to push the leaves and make bigger piles. For that job I would have charge a minimum of $1800 additional charge would have been the $400 you paid your friend for hauling them away. Either way $1500 is not a bad price. Also I bought by little wonder and billy goat used for $1150 total not bad and best investment I’ve made. Great job on the videos!!!
I was thinking like 2-3K. I can see how doing a bunch of smaller properties would be easier or make the day go by quicker. Those long hauls can be tough!
Great job!!! I have to pay at minimum $20 per hr cash per guy I couldn’t complete with that price especially when you add in equipment cost and overhead.
Great video Brian, I like doing tons of small clean ups! But if someone reached out to me for a big one I would do it! That guy had a nice setup for a big leaf cleanups!
I like big properties cause we got big equipment to handle it. We like to make one or two piles in the middle and burn it. let it burn all day if the customer lets you. Then you do not have to load it and haul it. I’m not sure if this will work in a more dense town or city but out in the country we burn it.
Might of helped to speed things up if you would have separated into several large piles, of course a leaf plow would have helped this. I’ve always found it’s easier to stop at one pile and have a guy raking the leaves to you while one guy is on the tube verse one guy doing all the work walking along the ditch line sucking up the leaves and the other guy driving the truck, Not too mention he might miss some leaves so then you have to go back and blow them out again and clean them up verse if it’s in a large pile it’s all in one spot. But nice job definitely a huge cleanup.
Man this is crazy My father and me do a leaf clean up for the same amount as a cut except we don't blow out the bed. Also we use a mulching kit on our mowers so it just fertilizes the grass with crushed leaves.
Question I just got into the business and I have a leaf job coming up. The mower I bought from a guy came with mulching blades I have 52" Hustler Raptor SD. Will that work or am I going to have to bag it all up. Any advice?
It doesn’t matter what others charge. Everyone has different costs. If you cover your costs and add your profit margin you will be where you need to be. The big jobs seem nice but more small jobs can be more profitable. Cheers.
I wouldn't take it because I have more than I could handle in smaller higher profit jobs, however if I took it for whatever reason I would have been around $2800 area. Don't you have a ride on blower? Seems that would really shine on that job.
We do $62.50 per man hour for cleanups. Some of the bigger companies here in MN are doing $75.00 an hour. I will raise my prices once we become more efficient.
I was going to calculate $50 per man hour! On smaller jobs, I figure $70. As you said $1500, that was the figure that I also came up with but that was after knowing how many hour's were spent. Nice clean up
I'd also say, next time blow all leaves onto the street, so long as a car can pass. That way the lawn is 100% done, your sucking off of a hard surface, and done have to blow through the lawn where the leaves were. The final blow down is all on pavement, which i find is way easier to blow on. When your doing the final blow of the dirt and mulch and sticks etc just blow it into a nice narrow strip, and then run a snow shovel down it and barrel it or a rake to get the bigger crap, and blow the dirt back in the grass.
That is where one of those hurricane blowers would come in handy. You would probably have to do cleanups like that all the time to justify spending that kind of money though lol
I'm about to submit a bid for a 4.5 acre campground 🤦♂️ let's see how this goes. We obviously won't be doing it until Spring now with winter here. I'm in Jackson Michigan.
1500 was a fair price in my opinion you will definitely get a call back next year and they will tell their neighbors. Repeat business is better than killing it on one job just to have another company give a cheaper bid next year cause you were too expensive.
I've never done a job that big, and probably never will, but I would have charge my hourly rate of $55, plus dump fee. Probably would have been closer to $1750. On the other hand, like some of these guys have said I would have mulched the leaves up first, so I wouldn't have had anywhere near as much on the curb or in the trailer.
When you indicated hours at the beginning then I figured the length of what you showed for picking leaves up and I had in my head $1500.00 and was very surprised thats what your number was did you do it all with back pack blowers?
Brian - when I am picking up leafs with my mower and vac system there seems to be a good amount of leaves that are blown out in front of the mower???? Ever had this and any ideas on a solution or a reason this happens?
It doesn't seem like it munched /cut them up any though? (Good job yall done) we /me usually mulch them up real good, then bag them/ dump on my trailer
$60 a man hour plus disposal. It’s all hourly when it comes to clean ups. The office calculates them off the clock in and clock outs on service autopilot from the teams phones throughout the day.
Love your channel Brian. I recently invested in a setup like yours and am trying to start my own business in my state and was wondering how do you charge an hourly rate without having to worry about the customer constantly looking out the window or trying to keep up with your breaks?
Everything is priced per lawn / per job my friend. If someone’s staring out the window at you, that’s a red flag, may want to ask them why or even evaluate dropping them if they act weirder.
That us tricky. The best you can do is like lawn care juggernaut. Give the customer a per man hour estimate and work as quick as you can. Tell them you take a paid 15 minute break every 2 hours and an unpaid lunch break for 1 hour. If they look out a few times and see you working each time, they will be less likely to keep looking out. Know that when the mower/blower stops, they will probably look out since it is "quiet". A good way to keep them at ease may be to video you working. It cover your butt and theirs. If they complain, tell them to look at the video. Ultimately, the estimate is the estimate and they can't do much about it. You charge hourly, they agreed to hourly and they have to pay you hourly. If you have basic documentation of your time at the job, you can sue them/lien their house, if they refuse to pay. The worst they can do after that is write a bad review. Your documentation can go a long way.
I would have charged $1500-$2500 probably, my leaf vac is pretty small so it takes me awhile to suck up leaves. But if I had a billygoat my hourly price would be higher, so the price would be about the same either way.
I’m all for little leaf cleanups, but I tend to get medium to large properties. I get it done, and don’t even hesitate to throw out my first instinctive bid.
Be careful with the tarp on tbe dump trailer. We had a fire the first year our setup was like that. Little pile of leave built up on tbe debris loader. Ruined fuel tank and some others. But luckily not a total loss. Now my whole thing is solid enclosed besides a 4' section in tbe front for venting. Just be careful
I didn't think it was a lot but then I realized it's not a dick measuring contest. He was driving 30mph showing that pile. That's a lot of leaves in a small area. I'd hate to work for someone who's a one upper always cut a bigger yard pit down more mulch moved more leaves. Miserable
Thats 50 per man hour. I think its a good price but I dont know your ovrhead numbers. I have 1 new truck and a smaller mower trailer setup and we charge about 150 an hour for 2 of us and the equipment. We use LMN software. We are still pretty broke most of the time. Going to start a YT channel and hopefully collaborate with some of you!
This is still 20/20 you know I think you should save the leaves and use them for the world's largest cover-up look at all these leaves in my yard I only have one tree
If you figure 1 day ×4 guys = 2000 + dump fees . If you have a large blower or leaf loader 16 hp on blower and 25 on loader or greater on each you have to figure those count as seperate man hours than actual man labor hours because of the cost of the machines and gas for the time they run. The main mistake you did was not to pile the leaves more,it actually takes more time to load, even with the machines, like that instead of funneling them into bigger piles, less time constantly moving.
Knowing that you need 125$/hr/man x 8 hours plus an additional 25%. We’re looking at 3750$. Hope you stuck to your guns!!! Haven’t watched the end yet. Stay safe B😃😃😃. OMG only 1500$. Not near enough. Come on Brian, thought you were the man. I obviously don’t know the details but at least double it next year. Feels like watching an old Keith Kalfas vid😂😂😂
Brian you guys did excellent work very clean and professional, but I feel like you cut yourself short on the bill. That is a TON of work especially since you are removing and hauling the leaves away. Obviously I can't see it in person but it seems to me that's a $2,500.00 clean up all day. We have done a handful of large clean ups this year and its a lot of work to get them clean.
Acre plus properties with maple and oak trees can be deceiving! I’d use this clean up as a example/guide for estimating future clean ups so your making the money you deserve. Great work love watching your videos.

Post more. Your videos are really good.
I try lol we still work a ton!
Man this is crazy My father and me do a leaf clean up for the same amount as a cut except we don't blow out the bed. Also we use a mulching kit on our mowers so it just fertilizes the grass with crushed leaves.
We have a customer about the same size as this one we do every week for $150 a cut!
Question I just got into the business and I have a leaf job coming up. The mower I bought from a guy came with mulching blades I have 52" Hustler Raptor SD. Will that work or am I going to have to bag it all up. Any advice?
Cool stuff
It doesn’t matter what others charge. Everyone has different costs. If you cover your costs and add your profit margin you will be where you need to be. The big jobs seem nice but more small jobs can be more profitable. Cheers.
That seams fair but maybe a little low. I’m sure you’d prefer a bunch of small ones. That was a beastly job! Thank god for that dump trailer!
I wouldn't take it because I have more than I could handle in smaller higher profit jobs, however if I took it for whatever reason I would have been around $2800 area. Don't you have a ride on blower? Seems that would really shine on that job.
I love this guy
We do $62.50 per man hour for cleanups. Some of the bigger companies here in MN are doing $75.00 an hour. I will raise my prices once we become more efficient.
Wow really? I charge $75/hr for my CAT 259D.... maybe it’s time I raise my prices
Yeah. Companies are starting to put prices on their websites.
We charge drive time 1-way as well.
Dam, time to call in Spencer's lawncare
That is a very large cleanup. Nice job. That would just about pay for the debris loader....almost anyways lol
Looks good. I'd have charged around $1,750. $60 per man hour for the blowing then $200 per hour for the time that sucker is running.
This is so cool
When you indicated hours at the beginning then I figured the length of what you showed for picking leaves up and I had in my head $1500.00 and was very surprised thats what your number was did you do it all with back pack blowers?
I have been commercial mowing for 25 plus years here in Michigan
Brian - when I am picking up leafs with my mower and vac system there seems to be a good amount of leaves that are blown out in front of the mower???? Ever had this and any ideas on a solution or a reason this happens?
30 hrs x $115 per hour... About $3500. They got a good deal on that end lol.
It doesn't seem like it munched /cut them up any though? (Good job yall done) we /me usually mulch them up real good, then bag them/ dump on my trailer
Team work makes the dream work! Nicely done!
Awesome!... And I was always told that money doesn't grow on trees!!! HA!
I LOVE this job good job
Both of you guys need the Grasshopper front mount with the turbine blower. It’s amazing and cuts your labor time astronomically!
That's a ton of leaves holy cow lol! Great job!
Super nice results!
I think you shorted yourself a lil.🤔
Still a good day.👍
I would charge $2000-$2500 for my 3 man crew with debris sucking and removal
I would change the same especially with labor dump fees and a whole day.
I would change the same especially with labor dump fees and a whole day.
I get it done, and don’t even hesitate to throw out my first instinctive bid.
lol 1500, that homeowner got you on that one.
Here is the video of us dumping all of the leaves from this video: ruclips.net/video/z1ljtimKEsY/видео.html
There’s not even that many leaves Brian 😂😂 light work we do condos get yourself a hurricane bud
The company I work for has three hurricanes and at first you're like oh my God $11,000 for a blower but they pay for themselves in the long run
I didn't think it was a lot but then I realized it's not a dick measuring contest. He was driving 30mph showing that pile. That's a lot of leaves in a small area. I'd hate to work for someone who's a one upper always cut a bigger yard pit down more mulch moved more leaves. Miserable
Leaf plow on my 52 Wright also worth its weight
What are you cruising around on? Electric skateboard
OneWheel!
Hey Brian, if l heard right you said 30 hours for that cleanup??
Is so l’d charge $3,500. Plus dump fee.
Correct me if I’m wrong with the hours
One wheel gang 🤙
lol
How big was the yard?
Probably a good acre plus
This is still 20/20 you know I think you should save the leaves and use them for the world's largest cover-up look at all these leaves in my yard I only have one tree
4:10 - That beat!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Dude looks nuts!
Here in Maryland we charge around $1700 to do a job like that!
Thanks Brian!
Looks great! The little properties are nice, but the only problem is there are very few around here, most are 1 acre plus.
Wow...definitely looks like a 300-400.00 per hour leaf job🍁🍂🍁🍂👌🏾😎
Brian you guys did excellent work very clean and professional, but I feel like you cut yourself short on the bill. That is a TON of work especially since you are removing and hauling the leaves away. Obviously I can't see it in person but it seems to me that's a $2,500.00 clean up all day. We have done a handful of large clean ups this year and its a lot of work to get them clean.
$2k would've been nice!
Acre plus properties with maple and oak trees can be deceiving! I’d use this clean up as a example/guide for estimating future clean ups so your making the money you deserve. Great work love watching your videos.
Rare footage of Brian actually getting dirty! 😂 j/k as always good stuff brother
You got that right!
you should consider using a hurricane and a leaf plow to make money and keep customers getting a good value on that property. .
You better charge them like 2k
Before even finishing the video, in the spirit of Kalfas, I’m going to predict $2,000
Great video
You all did an incredible job!!! 👍👍👍
I would like to see your go pros cameras just purchase one i would like to make videos for the snow and next year season thanks!
