One of the greatest things about Chicago is missing in the video and that is Chicago's lakefront. There is a big focus on the riverwalk and that's nice but the lakefront is the crown jewel of Chicago. In Chicago along the lakefront there is a continuous park that goes on for about 20 miles. There are beautiful beaches for swimming and sunbathing.

The green water in the Chicago River flows into the Des Plaines River, then the Illinois River and finally into the Mississippi River where it flows into the Gulf of Mexico passing by St. Louis, Memphis and New Orleans along the way. The green dye is biodegradable and doesn’t stay green for long.

Plus it was voted number 2 city in the world behind only Edinburgh, Scotland. The food here is the best. Authentic cuisine from all parts of the world. Plus we have the best hot dog stands, and hot dog stand food in the US. So much to see, and enjoy. You're going to love it.

I spent my first 30 yrs living in suburban Chicago. My dad was an Ironworker in the ‘60’s and ‘70’s, so the architectural River tour still fascinates me. You also go through the locks to get onto Lake Michigan for a short while. The views of the city are stunning from the lake.

The Art Institute is one of the world’s premiere art museums. It’s my favorite of the city’s museums. I remember dragging my dad there when I was around 13 years old to see an exhibition of art and artifacts from Pompeii, and I’ve also seen other traveling exhibitions of artists like Sargent and Monet. I also love the permanent exhibits such as the gorgeous trading room from the Stock Exchange, rescued before the building was demolished, and the wonderfully detailed Thorne miniature rooms, as well as such famous masterpieces as Island of La Grande Jatte, Nighthawks, and American Gothic.

The architecture river cruise offered by the Chicago Architecture Center is my favorite thing to do. Chicago is the birthplace of the skyscraper, and our river running through the downtown core is the absolutely gorgeous way to see it all. I’ve lived in Chicago for 8 years, and I gladly go 1-2 times per year when people visit. It absolutely never gets old, even for us locals.

It is a great tour and a top attraction and the RiverWalk is great.... Just most never say there are options of River AND LAKE tours... though it is longer to go into the Lake + the River.... I feel even if 2 separate ones are done that the LAKE tour for skyline view are awesome too. Many take those from Navy Pier if not doing a joint one for both. Also all should know how much cooler and breezy it can be on the Lake especially till mid-July. So taking a jacket and PROTECTION FROM THE SUN a good idea. Some splashing on a windy day can occur. Still even just the River is awesome too with some physical announcers giving good history lessons on buildings and city that add to the tour greatly.

I live on the north side of Chicago. Chicago is beautiful. Definitely come during spring! The summer can randomly get humid. It’s a hit or miss. I wouldn’t recommend venturing to far south. The higher the number(the south side tends to go by numbers for streets.) the worse it tends to get. North side is good, and it’s a bit cheaper compared to Chicago. Lincoln park, wriggley field are great. It’s lively, and not downtown. Chicago is huge and spans from west, to south and north

I am from NYC, but when I was real young I also lived in Chicago and Boston.
It would be better and cheaper in the long run to find a hotel near the places you want to visit because the the subway (CTA) is not that cheap. And spending a lot of time traveling by train takes away from sightseeing. Spend the money on a local hotel instead.

Chicago is a GREAT city to visit for a couple days. Go from mid May thru mid September to avoid the cold weather. You hear lots of bad things about violence and crime but if are just smart and avoid certain neighborhoods on the south and west side you'll be fine. Great food and lots to do. Hopefully you guys can go there someday!

Crime has gone into the touristy areas. Look at the store being robbed and drug use

Being from the city of Chicago I love this video. Millennium Park and the Sky Deck at Willis Tower " Sears Tower" is a must on the list. As well as Navy Pier. If you have a few extra hours, go to a baseball game as we have 2 professional baseball teams here. Thank you for the video and keep up the great work. Love from Chicago

The " L " refers to the subway. That's what we call it. The "loop " refers to being downtown at the center of the city. I grew up 20 miles north of the city where " Movie Home Alone " was filmed in a beautiful suburb. Chicago is much better than New York. Chicago is where you want to visit to get that real American feel.

I worked in Chicago for a year and as a child and later as an adult and father visited often by myself and with family. But have to sadly say that I wouldn't go there anymore - Chicago like many cities in the US is decaying and no longer as safe as it once was. The Magnificent Mile is virtually a ghost town as busineses and people have fled from the city.

How did the guy not mention the Swiss Jolly Ball? It’s the world’s largest pinball machine. It’s at the Museum of Science and Industry. If you guys go to Chicago, you’ve got to see the Swiss Jolly Ball.

Chicago is a super clean major city, the people are friendly, and there's great public transportation that will take you to any of the things you want to see as a tourist- which visitors should def take bc driving is horrible and parking is worse. Plenty of large open outdoor spaces and parks that are well cared for and used often, and world-class museums and food. It's family-friendly but also tons to do for couples and even singles. It isn't cheap but name a major city that is.... Get a "CityPass" online or at one of the attractions included, and you get good discounts on popular attractions. You can save by getting a hotel outside the city limits and taking the train in, and it has stops right near your destination.
If you visit, you SHOULD know the neighborhoods to avoid (the west side and some of the south side- there's not really an east side bc Indiana is there), and always be aware of your surroundings. As with any large city, crime happens, but as long as you bring your street smarts with you, it's my favorite place in the USA to live in & visit. The people saying you need to dodge bullets likely have not actually BEEN to Chicago. It's fine- they can stay away and let me enjoy my hometown.

Chicago is where I’m from and live. Most beautiful city in the states. The people are a good reflection of the US unlike larger cities like LA or NYC and it’s the number one good city. Very liberal and home to so much history across demographics which is rare. African American, American, native, Asian, and Hispanic history is through the entire city. Large polish, Italian, and Irish community too. The Obamas are from here and you can visit their home and many others
