Rotella è un comune italiano di 790 abitanti della provincia di Ascoli Piceno nelle Marche, è ubicato alle pendici del Monte Ascensione dove poco distante sorge il grazioso Santuario di Montemisio. Nel 1775 una devastante frana fece sprofondare quasi metà del borgo, rimase in piedi il solo campanile, che oggi è uno dei simboli del paese, fungendo ormai da più di due secoli da torre civica. Da visitare la chiesa di Santa Viviana con annesso museo e la chiesa di San Lorenzo; la frazione di Borgo Canoso, un piccolissimo abitato medievale; l’Eremo di San Francesco, dove avrebbe soggiornato il Santo e infine il Monte Ascensione.
Rotella is an Italian municipality of 790 inhabitants in the province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region, it is located on the slopes of Mount Ascensione where the lovely Sanctuary of Montemisio stands not far away. In 1775 a devastating landslide caused almost half of the village to collapse, only the bell tower remained standing, which today is one of the symbols of the town, having served as a civic tower for more than two centuries. Worth visiting are the church of Santa Viviana with its adjoining museum and the church of San Lorenzo; the hamlet of Borgo Canoso, a very small medieval town; the Hermitage of San Francesco, where the Saint would have stayed and finally Mount Ascension.
