Tashi Delek! Let me remind you, sir, that all races and countries have their strengths as well as weaknesses . There are still many Nepalese who practise the Buddha's teachings although the collective merit of human beings throughout the world, not just in Nepal, has declined in this age. Please do not judge all Nepalese by the actions of some people.
There was a culture those defeat in Sastartha ,would become the disciple of the one who won.And there are still many records of debate that has been written in china , Tibet etc.In India it was destroyed during foreign invasion.And there had been debate then those famed and realised masters and scholars of Nalanda, Vikramasila,Sompuri, Odantapuri ,Jagadalla Maha vihara etc would accept and kings would sponser such debate and would lockdown those Vihara if they had lost. And as there is not a single record of debate between Sankaracharya and any renowned Buddhist master not even in any early biography of Sankaracharya .And as we can see that as he tried to refute Sunyata,Chitta matra etc but as to which he refute is not what it is as per Buddhist interpretation, it shows he interpretate himself and refute it.
@@ramanujadasa121 Great grand teacher of Shankaracharya was "Gaudapadha" , he used to salute Lord Buddha before he pay homage to "Badarayana"(writer of Brahma sutra) , Gaudapadha was very much influenced by Buddhist scholors and masters like Nagarjuna and Bashubandhu , he adopted Buddhist terminology and borrowed its doctrines to his vedantic goals. He wove Buddhist doctrines into philosophy of the "Mandukya Upanisadh" which was further developed by Shankaracharya.The only difference between both philosophy is its central teaching where according to Buddhism everything is without an essential nature (Niswavab) , everything is empty of essential nature ( swavab sunya) where as, Gaudapada "Ajativada" (non origination and non creation) refers to the unchanging reality (saat).Shankaracharya's Adwaitya Vedanta was influenced by Buddhism Mahayana Philosophy , but his refutation clearlyfy that he didn't know what Buddhist called Sunyata , Chittamatra etc.On top of that Shankaracharya was unknown within Hindus before Bachasmati Mishra wrote commentary (tika) on his Brahma Bhasya.Hence, it is absolutely wrong to say that Shankaracharya debated and won Buddhist .
@@urgenlama5418 I agree with you on that , yes Gaudapadacharya accepted some views of buddhist that's why our Purvaacharyas called Advaita as mayavada and pseudo Buddhist. Bdw Sri Adishankaracharya criticised Buddhists in his work. At the time of adi Shankaracharya Buddhism was already on the wane in India. Actually Sri Kumarila bhatta and sri udayanacharya was the main reason for decline of nastikas specially Buddhism in India. Then islamic rulers killed Buddhists and destroy many Buddhists places
@@ramanujadasa121 Kumaril Bhatta took King Sudhanwa's Army and killed all Buddhist and destroyed all Vihara's and Stupa in Kerela , this is what written in Shankaracharya's oldest biography and still you deny that fact bro.It started declining because of such massacre and creation of Purana's where Hindus portrayed Buddha as Incarnation of Vishnu , which make many lay people delude but elite group of society wasn't.Before people used to have hunger to find what is right but afterwards people started focusing on who is right.Instead of debating they started killing and that is how Buddhism started declining .

I do not think that Shankaracharya did not debate with the Buddhists because at that time there was an inevitable culture of debate.
