Gotta remember Sting was always on the main event card alot with Hogan, Nash, Goldberg, Bret Hart, DDP, Ric Flair, Steiner, and Macho Man. Jericho was always on the midcard. Couldn't go up to main event card due to backstage politics back then. But now it's surreal due to that
If you told me back in 2000, when I first started watching pro wrestling actively, that Chris Jericho and Sting wouldn't meet face-to-face in a wrestling ring until this day in 2023, I wouldn't have believed that. Now, it's truly a reality - only AEW can bring such a scenario to fruition, even though it took decades to happen.
I think Jericho was working when he said he has no interest in a match with Sting. I think this is the beginning of the epic build toward a big Jericho versus Sting match, and I'm all for it. It's gotta be at Wembley. EDIT: and the great thing is that with All Out being the very next week back in the States you could do the Jericho vs. Sammy finale there.

As someone who watched Jericho and Sting in WCW 25+ years ago, I'm almost in disbelief that this was their very first time in a ring together.
Gotta remember Sting was always on the main event card alot with Hogan, Nash, Goldberg, Bret Hart, DDP, Ric Flair, Steiner, and Macho Man. Jericho was always on the midcard. Couldn't go up to main event card due to backstage politics back then. But now it's surreal due to that

If you told me back in 2000, when I first started watching pro wrestling actively, that Chris Jericho and Sting wouldn't meet face-to-face in a wrestling ring until this day in 2023, I wouldn't have believed that. Now, it's truly a reality - only AEW can bring such a scenario to fruition, even though it took decades to happen.

I think Jericho was working when he said he has no interest in a match with Sting. I think this is the beginning of the epic build toward a big Jericho versus Sting match, and I'm all for it. It's gotta be at Wembley.
EDIT: and the great thing is that with All Out being the very next week back in the States you could do the Jericho vs. Sammy finale there.
Screw a Jericho vs Sting match, this needs to be a rivalry. I've waited 18 years for this & one match only won't make up for the long wait. I say they should feud until the end of the year & end in a trios match between Sting, Darby & Sammy vs the JAS (Jericho, Hager & Garcia) where if Sting's team wins, the JAS disbands. That should be Sting's final match.
