I've listened a few times to each ones of the full cycles of Bach's cantatas by Suzuki, Gardiner and Koopman, as well as the partial cycles by Richter, Rilling and Herreweghe. I've also extracted a playlist of my favorite 750 arias, choirs and chorales (plus a few outstanding recitatives) extracted from all of those collections to play randomly on my DAP. Yet, listening to the opening aria of this cantata feels like I am hearing it for the first time. Among all of those cantatas, and much of the rest of Bach's vocal and instrumental work as well, it often seems that my favorite piece is the one I am currently listening to.
