I'm glad I found your video because for about a good month and a half I've been searching all over the internet and not one video was on the mark, but yours was 100% in my book. So thank you, I'm setting my sub up tomorrow with the help of your video!
I just got the same car and I couldn’t find a good video on this for a Mazda and Boom Just randomly appeared . It was a Very good quality video thank you so much 👍
Hey man, hope you are well! I just now finished installing a sub and amp into the exact same car, but 2.0, took about an hour for my buddy to cut and twist and solder the wires together while I was prepping the fuse for the battery, and running other wires to sub and amp. This video helped me big time and we nailed it first try when we powered back on. The accessory wire yellow is where I connected the remote wire. Everything works great and I’m SUPER happy with it. #KICKERAUDIO #KICKERCOMPS
After researching for about a month this video really helped me understand how to do this i do have a professional helping me with the install but i like to know what im doing before i start doing it thanks man
Great video man. This really brought back memories. I haven't done this stuff in about 20 years, but I'll be doing a subwoofer install on my son's 2007 Mazda 3 after Christmas. The only thing I plan on doing differently is that I'm going to install my LC2i LOC in an accessible spot (with my subwoofer and amp). I did my first install when I was about 17. That was back in 1990 when RUclips did not exist. Not knowing what I was doing, I ran the power wires and the rca wires down the same side of the vehicle I did the installation on. Noise was TERRIBLE! I ended up getting a line filter. I later talked to a professional and he told me to run my signal wires on the opposite side. I did that and the noise went away. Wish I had access to videos like this back in the day.
The internet is an immensely helpful tool for these kinds of things! Without it, I wouldn't have figured out how to do a decent install when I started getting into car audio three years ago.
ADRENALINE567 Hey Pat!! I think you did an excellent job on this video!!! great description and explanations!! very easy to understand I really appreciate you taking the time to show this.. however I have the exact same LOC but the yellow wire is labeled 12V+ I am wondering what I need to wire that to?? I have the diagram to the wire harness but can't figure it out... Also does it matter if I wire the ground of the LOC onto a separate wire harness's power ground?? If you could help me out I'd really appreciate it buddy thanks again for the video very helpful!!! good effort!
Haha, I'm a voice actor, it's totally something that gets better with time, and once you become aware of it, you get better at not saying it, or at least get better at editing it out ! Keep up the great work! Thanks for the video
everything headunit i can manage. but im new to subs. interestingly enough my friend wants to use his stock unit for his subs as well so this video was VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD.. haha thanks for being so informative it's much appreciated, cheers
step one-build a rocket(pretty straight forward) step two:power it with an arc reactor(also pretty straight forward) step 3 connect everything else in a random ass order that nobody fuvkin knows (most straight forward) step 4 drive straight forWard into a wall...pretty straight forward
To remove the paint I actually use a drill and one of those metal brush things for drills. Much easier if you have one of those. Other than that pretty straight forward ;) LOL Good video, very easy to follow the steps! Good job!
Recommendation, if it hasn't been noted by someone already, is to take a few small zip ties, and tie down the electrical tape with them. It'll help keep the tape in place, even after the adhesive wears off (which it will over time). It's also helpful for those who use the twist and tape method (no soldering or butt connectors) to keep the connections from pulling out too easily. Still not recommended to use the twist and tape method, but I've have to do it before, and the zip ties were very helpful in keeping everything together.
I just ordered a four channel amp for the speakers I put in. I'm guessing the hookup for all this would be the same regardless of whether it's for a sub or all the speakers, correct? Really appreciate the video, my friend. Thank you.

If I run my power cable through the engine's main wire harness can I still keep it far enough away from the RCA cables when I run them under my seat? (putting a slim powered sub under the front passenger seat. Great vid! pretty straight forward ;)
So you just T cut the front speaker wires and twisted them with the converter wires? It been seeing vids where they cut the leaker wires and just don't use them but don't know what that does how do the speakers work if I cut them to hook the radio to the amp? But yea so T cut ? Fuse box - radio (2nd from the left top row AKA no. 44). Located under glove box. Tie to side that has no voltage when car is off. It'll just switch on when you turn ignition on and not constantly drain your battery 24/7.
hi bro,i followed everything and installed 12 inch build in amp subwoofer on mazda rx8 (2005).but when i plugin in both rca wire to the amp.it doesnt sounds working but with one wire ,anyone, then it works loud ,what did i do wrong ? any idea ?
Ya man whatd you hook the contol wire up to? In my audi i hooked it into mycigarette lighter. I might do that on my mazda but i wanna know where you put it.
What do you hook the Yellow (12V+) wire to?? I noticed you called it an accessory wire? what's it's purpose and where in the wire harness should I tap it too? In the instructions to my LOC it says run it to my amps power source but that's to much work.. There has to be an alternative somewhere in the wire harness behind my stereo right?? and might be a stupid question but can I just tap my ground wire into another ground wire behind my stereo? thanks
Kevin Addley late reply but that wire would be your "remote wire". As in, the wife that tells the amp to turn on and/or off. You usually want to connect it to the RADIO's power source because you only want you sub amp on when your radio is turned on. Usually headunits have an extra BLUE wire in the back for this reason.
Ok maybe I'm just stupid but, when you cut the front speaker wires to attach the loc to, how do the front speakers get signal still? Please respond! This has been driving me crazy! :)
+iTouch461 The ground cable for the amp does not run from the battery. It goes straight from the amp to somewhere to a ground point near the amp. If your battery needs a thicker gauge ground, you would run a wire from the battery to a good ground near the battery. Also, whenever your system is above 500 watts, use 0 gauge power wire.
And if it ever has an issue (Like drawing too much current and melting your tiny wire) there's a chance you might end up with no working brake lights due to a short. Sounds safe. You might wanna stay away from safety light circuits.

WITH a 9 volt battery you can tell what wires goes to what speaker and also their polarity. No need for a schematic.
