  • Lake State Railway is if not the fastest growing shortline in Michigan. In 2014 they put in a huge grain elevator in Standish MI to gain grain traffic. Then in 2018 they leased the Dunn paper route from CN in Port Huron. The job runs everyday during the week and on the weekend if needed. Lately they just leased over 50 miles of trackage from CSX out of Flint MI to Plymouth MI. They even got a grant from MDOT to fix their tracks on the Mackinac sub near West Branch and Grayling because traffic is going up. They are also going to gain coal traffic from the HESR which is rumored about. So yeah this is the best and fastest growing shortline in the Michigan. This is a video consisting of their operations on a few of their lines. Featured is the LSRC Saginaw sub chases through Holly MI, the NB Pinnconning MI to Grayling MI road train in Standish MI, and the chase of the LSRC stone train on the Huron sub from Harrisville MI to Oscoda MI. Enjoy the Video!

If you go by the ford buildings I think it was . It's been a few years you could find more history for the rails. If the box cars are still there

Me too! It's neat to see Soo Line somewhat in Michigan. Just might be the only place in the country where it's common

@@soarinskies1105 No sadly, they have currently put into long term storage as it was just a one year lease. It was fun while it lasted ;)
