This is a genuinely beautiful song, and says so much about the way my guy and I feel for one another. I'm putting together a playlist of our relationship, and this is definitely going on there! It's cute too cause my guy was literally raised working on their family farm overseas, so, it's both metaphorically and *literally* applicable!
Lawson, you have talent. Would enjoy hearing more from you. Thank you for penning such a sweet, sincere song. Although much of your worldview and my own don't mesh, I'm a Christian, also. Lawson Bates unfairly copyright claimed a parody that he didn't like despite it being except able under fair use. Totally abusing the system. He's infringing on people's right to free speech more than getting banned on Twitter does.

This is messed up. Jen and James were so successful with the channel that they both quit their jobs. He is fucking with their income with a bullshit copyright claim because he can't take someone making fun of his family. Jen is never cruel even when she's ribbing on someone and her videos have thousands of comments from people saying things like "you helped me deal my religious trauma" and "thank you for creating a safe space".
Parody is fair game. You don't have to like it, but it's not a copyright violation.

Lawson, I wanted to tell you personally how much I LOVE your song. You know where I first heard of it? Fundie Fridays. I hope you reconsider your decision to report copyright strikes on Fundie Fridays because I'm sure the exposure increased your audience. I'm a left- leaning Atheist with strong ties to the alphabet mafia. I would never have heard this piece of art without Fundie Fridays. If you cared about carrying the message and spreading the gospel, I'd thank Jen and James for the exposure. (I'm serious when I say I LOVE this masterpiece and don't care if fellow "Fundie Snarkers" make fun of me. I have a soft spot for love ballets and without Fundie Fridays, I would've never heard of this song). So instead of working against people who have introduced unlikely fans, I'd show them grace. (I almost capitalized "Grace" automatically since that is my cat's name but anyway...) please consider embracing Fundie Fridays since I know I'm not the only 🏳️🌈 liberal nonbeliever who now listens to your music after hearing it there.

Yes! I LOVED this song when I first heard it on Fundy Fridays and had to look it up. Then I was so excited when he did that amazing duet with his new wife. I have no doubt that Fundy Fridays gave him a secular audience that he wouldn't have otherwise gotten and he should thank her, as I definitely do.
This one's got it! It's a good song if you like country (not my taste but I definitely see why people like it). Jen did a comedic cover aka, a parody. Big deal. If what she did was against copyright laws, then Weird Al is in BIG trouble. Lol! But yea, I probably would have mentioned this song to friends of mine that like country music... not a chance now. In fact, I'll tell them to steer clear of Lawson Bates. Unless of course he comes out with a genuine apology and removes the petty a** copyright strikes. And yea, I think Jen & James would have probably given this song more positive exposure if he acted like a decent human being about it. Man, they could have even teamed up and done a goof music video of some sort together!

@@countryrat6t6 I think it would have been cool AF of him if he took it in stride and laughed it off. They said the approached him about sharing any profits from the parody/ removing it/ working something out that wouldn't involve them losing their channel and he was not interested.

Sad, because I did legitimately enjoy this song and would stream it on other platforms. If you want to use your public image to profit off of your music, you can’t get mad when people speak about your public life or make a transformative parody of it. Yeah describing love like rain has to be the weirdest analogy. My only guess would be like how much farmers love rain during droughts? Unno, is still an odd choice, and every sentence in the song does t really make sense.

I can see it. Rain makes everything feel fresh, clean, renewed. So does love, when you find that person you can't breathe without, and you feel in your bones that it's a mutual feeling.
Not saying finding good, real love is the cure-all. We all need to work on ourselves, and we are all works in progress. But having a partner alongside as you do so helps you grow. Like the rain! 😃🤗😍
When I first started listening to this, I thought there was AT in the chorus, but now I am not so sure, it just sounds like his accompaniment, vocally it's not a super demanding song anyways.. and that's not a diss, a lot of awesome songs with good pop sensibilities don't have crazy vox so that people can sing along to them... Lawson made very good use of a great chord progression and really dressed it up his way, so that deserves cred!
