    I'm not as worried about the GMO, I am more worried about the Glyphosate that is sprayed on them. That kills our beneficial gut bacteria and causes leaky gut. Please can you look into this for us? Thank you, you are beautiful and what you do is amazing.

      joni4taz According to the USDA website, “The use of genetic engineering, or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) is prohibited in organic products.” Therefore anything with the USDA Organic label should be GMO free, or if it is certified 100% organic, it should also be free from GMOs. However, GMO free does not equal organic, as organic standards also take into consideration sustainable farming practices, animal welfare, soil quality, etc. But if a product simply claims to have ‘organic’ or ‘all natural’ ingredients, these are just marketing claims, unregulated and therefore probably untrue. However if it has the USDA Organic label, it has been verified as meeting organic regulations all the way from the farm to the store.

      Only Certified Organic Soy is 100% guaranteed GMO Free. If it is not Certified it will certainly have been contaminated . Unfortunately American USDA standards are low ( compared to European Standards) as EU rules and regulations are much more stringent here. It is illegal to market a non- certifed food as Organic in Ireland and is punishable by large fines or/and imprisonment. The bar is set very high for Organic Certification here and is the only way to be sure you are buying/eating Non GM.

    It is so sad it is so complicated. You mentioned one of their reasons was more yield to feed more- the problem is that all that food has caused an epidemic of obesity. Seems that growing only 100% organic would feed people enough and keep them healthy.

  • @alisonmiller2708

    Just making a short note for quick reference. "100% organic" means not genetically modified. "Organic" does not guarantee that a food is not genetically modified. Food label number: 5 digits beginning with 8 means genetically modified while five-digits beginning with 9 means organic but does not guarantee that the food is not genetically modified. Four-digit codes mean non-GMO.
    Good info! Thanks again doctor!

    Thanks for a great tutorial once again. I get clarity and confirmation with each video, along with brand new information. Did you say that eating over-ripe fresh fruit has bad long term consequences? I re-wound to listen to that bit again and that is what I think I heard. Of course when I Googled it, there were some results that said it is good to eat over-ripe fruit and some that said it is bad. Go figure:)

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 лет назад +1

      No, I said that processed food, nor over-ripe fruit, nor genetically-nodified soy makes you sick on the spot. I was just using an analogy to contrast immediate harm with long-term harm. Over-ripe fruit does not harm you at all unless your digestive system just doesn't like it. The point is that junk food doesn't harm you immediately, but it does have long-term consequences.

      I'm happy to share my eating habits with you, Daisy. So many women have asked about me personally that I'll be doing a Q&A video (at the end of the year). I'm really quite surprised that so many of my viewers want to know about me personally. My RUclips team has convinced me to do a Q&A.
      When I first started my channel, they said, "Barbie, take more pictures of yourself."
      "Take pictures of myself? Why in the world would I take pictures of myself?" I asked. (I'd never heard of a selfie, and wish I still hadn't heard of selfies. I've still never taken one!)
      I guess I finally realize that I'm one of the very few people on RUclips who ISN'T telling you about myself.
      So, in the Q&A, I'll answer all the questions about myself that I get repeatedly, including what I eat.

    Hi Dr. Taylor !! I’ve watched all your videos, I’ve been suffering with all the menopause symptoms. Thanks to all the info you are giving us in your videos I knew how to ask my doctor for HRT. He prescribed me 1 mg. Of estrogen and 200 mg of progesterone. I’m 46 and have my uterus. Is this radio estrogen/progesterone k ?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 лет назад +3

      Your ratio of estrogen and progesterone is perfect IF you're on the "cyclic regimen" and taking the progesterone only on certain days of the month.
      If you're on the "continuous regimen" and taking the progesterone every single day, you can take 100 mg of progesterone.
      The 200 mg of progesterone is not wrong or bad, it's just more than it necessary to balance 1 mg / day of estradiol.
      Here are the dosages for estrogen and progesterone that meet the goals of preventing long-term disease associated with menopause.
      Conjugated Estrogen 0.625 mg / day
      Estradiol 1.0 mg / day
      Estradiol Patches 0.5 mg / day
      Estropipate 1.25 mg / day Esterified Estrogen 0.625 mg / day
      Ethinyl Estradiol 0.01 - 0.015 mg / day depending on the source of the estrogen
      Compounded Bi-Est or Tri-Est 2.5 mg / day
      Estradot 37.5 mcg / day
      There are standard dosages of progesterone to balance these dosages of estrogen, depending on whether you take the progesterone every day (continuous) or just certain days (cyclic).
      Here are the standard dosages:
      Medroxyprogesterne Acetate 2.5 mg continuous or 5 mg cyclical
      Norethindrone Acetate 2.5 mg continuous or 5 mg cyclical
      Norethindrone 0.35 mg continuous or 0.7 mg cyclical
      Micronized Progesterone 100 mg continuous or 200 mg cyclical
      Progesterone Gel Twice weekly continuous or every other day for 12 days cyclical
      Oh, and the younger you are, the higher the dosage you'll need. If you're just peri-menopausal, you probably WILL NOT be relieved of your symptoms with dosages designed for women much older than you are. That's why birth control options are so popular for women during peri-menopause. Birth control dosages of estrogen and progesterone are much higher than the ones in HRT.

    Wonderful information. Thank you so much for sharing♡ and ofcourse your outfit was soy delightful
    Do you eat or know about tvp (texturized vegetable protein)? I love it in spaghetti sauce but read it was really bad for you because of process used to make it?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 лет назад

      I know quite a bit about textured vegetable protein.
      Think about it this way:
      You know how I've taught you that everything is about trade-offs? And I've taught you that a plant-based diet has tremendous benefits over an animal-based diet?
      The big goal is to do what will make the biggest difference in benefitting you.
      If you compare eating meat to eating TVP, the benefits of the TVP greatly outweigh any so-called benefits of meat.
      If you compare TVP to fresh produce, the fresh produce wins.
      But, it's all relative. If you're not a cook who wants to cook and season GMO-free tofu every day, then TVP is a great improvement over meat. The "process" for meat is more shocking than anything you could ever imagine for TVP. And if you live in the U.S., you will find it very difficult to find any food that is not processed. Ours is an economy that favors the health of the economy over the health of individuals.
      I've found TVP in every single country in which I've lived (and I've lived on every continent except Antarctica). I'm not a cook. And I love the stuff. I've seen it (and eaten it) as tofu and as seitan.
      I think each woman has to be realistic about what works for her own life situation.
      I hate hype that is not consistent with fact (like the "really bad for you" verbiage).

    Quick off topic question, been itching and miserable since moving to tropical clime. Have learned about Dermatographic urticaria (also known as dermographism, dermatographism or "skin writing") is a skin disorder and one of the most common types of urticaria, affecting 2-5% of the population. And it’s pretty spot on for me. Looks like the main suggestion behind reducing stresss, is taking daily anti histimemes. Would you think having to take anti histimen a problems for that HRT ?

    • @MenopauseTaylor
      @MenopauseTaylor  6 лет назад

      There is no problem with taking antihistamines with HRT. And your understanding of dermatologic urticaria is correct. Pay attention to the active ingredient in antihistamines.
      Some contain diphenhydramine or cetirizine, both of which typically cause drowsiness. And the older you are, the longer they hang around and make you drowsy. (Elderly people sometimes wake up the next day, still drowsy, dizzy, and loopy.)
      Others contain pseudoephedrine, which typically makes most people feel wired and jittery.
      If you notice these side effects, take the drowsy ones at night and the wired ones in the morning.

      It all depends on the definitions of words ... and on the person assigning those definitions. Your definition of the word "organic" may or may not match that of the food industry's. (The food industry has its own definitions for just about every word.)
      It also depends on where you live in the world. Different countries have very different standards.

      But an allergy is an allergy is an allergy. It trumps everything else.
      The same could be said for peanuts. If you're allergic, you can't eat them. But that doesn't make them unhealthy for everyone who isn't allergic to them.
      So, YOU definitely should not eat soy.

    Genetic modification is a PROCESS, not a product. There is nothing inherently bad about GMO. If the process is used to make the food somehow better, then it's good. If the process is used to make a food worse or dangerous them it's bad. GMO tells you nothing about the result any more than knowing the name of the guy who stocked it. If the food is stocked poorly and is gross and dirty, then that's what you need to know. If it's stocked by the same person but is fresh and clean then it doesn't matter how it got there. Those nonGMO labels do nothing to tell you anything about the end result of goodness of the food you are buying.
