Despite Will being a ladies man with an impressive body count, Alicia was really the only one he had romantic feelings for. I’m not saying that Alicia and Will did not have great chemistry with each other, because they absolutely do, but the whole love triangle troupe with one of the characters wanting something they cannot have has been overused to death on scripted entertainment.
I wish he told her that he regretted it. I wish he told her she never deserved him before he died. What she did to him was the most vexing thing I ever watched on tv. He was so good and so in love and she destroyed him and never looked back. If you have the gut to treat someone like this that means you never loved him/her, and she never did.

Alisha didn't deserve Will, yeah she had kids and it would have been hard,but she destroyed him when she left.
Not to mention she "left" him (if I recall) after ONE conversation / situation with her teenage daughter. Like really? WTF. If this was Peter (or any man) it'd be all "well you can't blame a guy for wanting happiness.

I don't think you understand. They had to write it out like this because Josh already decided to exit the show... I read that thr initial plan for the show was for them to be an official couple at the end of the series ... But Josh decided to leave (he didn't even end the 5th season) and they had to modify the script to make way for his exit... This was the only way they could've write him out in order to allow Alicia's character to move over at some point... She never healed but she was able to move on because of her children. Her breaking up with him and leaving the firm were all part of his exit script, unfortunately. I watched this show 3 times. It is my favorite show and it will always be, it was perfect, the actors were perfect, everything was perfect. But every time I cry when Will dies, I cry because of them, it has touched me the way they portrayed their love, it was so real and sad. I wish Josh didn't have to leave the show... I really wish they would've married and lived together untill the end of their lives, happy and in love. I hate sad endings.
Personally I found the writers toying with the will and Alicia fans. I mean they were together for like 9 episodes in season 3 and we didn’t really get to see their relationship. Also how could they let Alicia stay married to that scumbag! I mean Peter got everything he wanted. He became governor in the end all because Alicia didn’t leave him. The good wife? No the pathetic/can’t stand up for herself wife. Also with the title the good wife they kind of made their own grave because how are you going to divorce the main character.

I agree they didn't have a good arc for where they wanted the story to go and it shows. It never progressed just kept going back and forth. Too bad, because I thought it was a great match character wise.
@@frklinee I don't think it is an American thing, but a politician thing. Wives often want the glamor of the political life as much as the politicians. They could give up the man, but don't want to give up the lifestyle.
@@Analyticalinadream Yes, perhaps you're right. It's just that where I'm from the families of politicians are never involved in anything to do with their "jobs", and especially not political campaigns. Whereas in America the image of the "perfect familiy" seems to be very important.
It's not the writer's fault... Josh decided to leave the show... Her breaking up with him, leaving the firm and then Will shot, it was re-written because of him leaving... Their initial plan was to make Will and Alicia an official couple, I'm guessing married couple but they had to change everything because of Josh's leaving...😔
