    Very enlightening. Good points and great guidance on how to worship. The Bible shows the way.
    I think all who proclaim to be Christians need to hear this and self assess if their worship is pleasing to God. I have heard it said, “little worship, little faith”.
    Keep up the good work.
    Thanks.

    I recently found you on RUclips and believe God is showing me how He wants our church to worship. I’ve learned a lot watching you and appreciate you man of God! My daughters and I are new to leading (I have always sang for Jesus and was on the worship team and then led when tbh I had no business doing as I was living in sin) this time around I want to do as God desires. He is so good and so faithful! May I ask how we teach our church the correct way to worship? How do we teach the w our corporate worship? Are there any words or scripture we can speak? Thanks so much for turning back to the Bible and trying to lead ppl back to the Gospel!

    First Timothy chapter four is what I been soaking up to mesmerized and be a doer, not in worship leader. Although my obedience to the word of God is worship.
    Question is when a pastor or worship leader have little knowledge of music groups in the "Christan singers" are using to be like the world, these groups I speak of is Maverick group, Elevation, Bethel and Hillsong, which views of Christ is far off and very very demonic they don't listen is it good to walk ?

    The question on context of this text what means „scripture“?

    • @johndill6594
      @johndill6594 2 месяца назад

      From my perspective, at minimum, “scripture” in Jesus’ context during his ministry was at least referred to (at a high level) as the Law and the Prophets (one of the gospels has a verse that adds Psalms). This is if you survey Jesus’ quotations in the gospels. This was also authenticated in deed (at a high level) through the transfiguration with the vision of Jesus with Moses (Law) and Elijah (Prophets).
      But beyond that, things get muddy really quickly (to me). First, you have the temptation of Jesus where a scripture battle happens with Satan quoting Psalms 91 and Jesus responding with Deuteronomy. Who has the truth in this context if both are quoting “scripture”? Even if you believe Sola Scriptura, this makes Sola Scriptura much more complicated! If someone other than Jesus quotes scripture, perhaps intentionally out of context like Satan, or unintentionally out of context like myself, is it still “truth”?
      I also struggle with New Testament context applications like this because references to the “scriptures” in the context of the early church letters was the Law and Prophets, but then the New Testament is canonized at a later point in time, but context drift happens where now the context of Timothy now applies to the New Testament as well (or even potentially abused by Jehovah Witness or Mormon quotations of “scripture”). To my knowledge, these Protestant and Orthodox canons were established by a man or councils of men, without a historically recorded transfiguration of Jesus equivalent event. Obviously I put very high emphasis on the transfiguration as a source of authenticity, but I can’t find a way to graft the New Testament under that umbrella.
      If I remember rightly, there is a gospel reference by Jesus to Holy Spirit inspiration of Psalms, but does that apply everywhere? If Peter can make a big error where Jesus chastised him saying “Get behind me Satan!”, but now when he writes his letters, it’s now Holy Spirit inspired? Jesus didn’t write these letters, so how is one to know whether their writings are Holy Spirit inspired or their own theology. We don’t cast lots for succession of leadership like Peter did to replace Judas, so not everything in scripture is prescriptive.
      As you can see, I find the topic of scripture and canonization to be very challenging and most of the time the local church just asserts it using a statement of faith without diving into the morass. This is how you can get into differences between Protestant and Orthodox traditions of Old Testament writings, which to me appear to be traditions that could both “fit” under the “Law and Prophets” umbrella.
      I recognize that I have my own struggles in this area. A lot of believers don’t seem to get to wrapped around the axle like I do. I believe that the writings in the Bible are authentic, but I have a hard time reconciling that the Protestant tradition of the Bible is the one true Holy Spirit inspired word of God. I do have confidence that Jesus is the inspired word of God, God made flesh. Even if I don’t fully understand “scripture”, I can still try to emulate Jesus first and try my best to learn from those who followed Him.

      He is talking about the Bible… what is found in the Bible, the whole Bible. When he says, “scripture” he is referring to passages from the Bible. I hope that helps 🙏🏼😊
