I wonder if the "limiter" being removed in Octo Expansion had a permanent impact on Cap3? Like, if they use a special, maybe they can't control how powerful they are any more, which makes them overexert to the point of hurting themselves.
my theory is that it's not just water that splats them as that would make living really hard i think its high acidity levels in the water and so whoever makes the stages makes the water high acidic on purpose so it can act as a hazard and then elsewhere its just regular water

First game: New in town, follows a weird old man into the sewers and gets recruited into the army, ends up destroying a giant flying robot in a race relations-altering climactic battle. Second game: Badass edgelord teenager, ends up trapped in a weird subway station with a girl she was fighting, gets mind controlled by an evil telephone and later knocked out, missing the final battle against a death ray shaped like Michelangelo's David. Third game: Promoted to captain, less edgy and more "doesn't wanna be there", but more than willing to go Super Saiyan and swing around a giant lawnmower-looking thing so the new rookie can fight a giant grizzly bear built like Kingpin. Interesting character progression. I can get behind it.
