I managed to get my hands on a set of these early on for my R1200GSA and after only about 1,000 miles so far I am just tickled with the street performance. The Karoo Streets feel very planted even at speed and fully loaded, excellent in the wet and passable in the off-road. I found the Karoo Streets to glare off rocks that my previous Shinko 705's would roll over with little notice - not really a bad thing, just something worth noting - typically on a R1200GS/A you are standing and allowing your big beast to dance under you a bit especially on downhill river stone type fire roads that have been washed out a bit last spring... I ran into this very thing with the local BMW ADV club and found the Karoo Streets workable even in that kind of difficulty - regular fire road duties, the Streets engendered confidence even at speed on dry hardpack clay roads that were rough in places. I have to say, overall, I prefer the Karoo Streets to ALL of my previous tire sets and am OK with both the limits and mild glaring the tires exhibited off-road. Note also that I always run all tires at the factory max cold pressure, in this case of 42psi front/rear. I know most will lower the pressure for better off-road work but these tires get way too hot in my opinion at reduced pressures on 80+ degree heated asphalt streets and highways for lengths of time - they won't last long at such high temps... I suspect... Currently I am also quite pleased with the current wear trends with this tire as well... I'm 6' 1" about 200lbs with loaded aluminum panniers and large top soft trunk so we are talking roughly 900lbs all together...
Nice feedback, thank you! Sounds like a really good street tire for these bit ADV bikes. I did not like the 705 on the street at all... (my personal feelings) as compared to many of the other options. - Kyle
What about the wear now, the vibration and the sound? Do you experience a lot of vibration? How many miles do you think they will do and on what surface in %, onroad/offroad? Are these tires/tyres still (to) noisy? Do you need earplugs while riding? I'm looking for these tires/tyres or the Pirelli Rally STR is another option if they are not to noisy and give not a lot op vibration. Thx in advance!
Thank you for your inquiry. I have ridden the Karoo 3 and the Rally STR. The Karoo 3 is the most loud and has the most vibration. The STR a bit less. This new Karoo Street is bound to run much smoother, more like the similarly treaded Avon tires... Looking forward to testing this tire in the real world. - Kyle
Hey Guys - I just bought a new Africa Twin (non- Adv Sports) w/Karoo Street tires, I am going to put these tires on a new Set of Tubeless Wheels.... but they have "Tubed Tire" on the sidewall.... are there 2 types of Karoo Streets? (Tubed & Tubeless??) or are they BOTH OK Tubeless?
Looking for a next set of tires and this one is on my list, but it's still not in stock in Europe in size 90/90/21, so I will probably go for another one, because they need to be changed soon depending on the weather. Do you maybe have more info from that Metzeler guy? I need the 150/70/17 and the 90/90/21 for my Tiger 800 XCx.

The Rear tires are all radial. The front tire are radial for some sizes and bias for others. If R is in the tire size, the tire is radial. -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team
More street and less dirt... the % really depends on rider skill. I personally would put this into the 80 Street / 20 Dirt category. Not knobby enough to be a 70/30 in my opinion. But... we WILL be testing it here shortly back to back on the same roads / trails with the Karoo 3, so we will discuss in helmet at the time it is happening how much off-road performance it really has. Stay tuned! Thanks for watching an for commenting! -- Kyle & the Chap Moto Team

Do the 150 in this Karoo Street and the Karoo 3 90/90-21 - That is what I am going to do on my 1190 KTM. - Kyle

If the Karoo 3 is a 50/50 the Street is a 70/30
