What a difference to the Parkruns I do here, which are all mud and more mud. Great to watch though. Your 5K pace is the pace I was doing 250m intervals at last week. In terms of the heat, I definitely find that I start losing pace once the temperature goes above 15 degrees. Another thing I have found as the British winter kicks in is that as the temperature drops and I start adding long sleeves, long legs and more layers, that less exposed skin also seems to make me run with a higher heart rate for my given pace.
@@runskicakesleep haha yes very different to running in the UK! I was actually born there (Exeter) and studied in Manchester for 4 years so I’m well acquainted with the weather, but I’ve never run there (only been running for about 19 months). My wife did some running in the Scottish countryside not long ago and was very conscious of the difference :-) Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
100% always get nervous ahead of an all out 5km even if it’s just parkrun! Think it’s the fear of a massive blow up. This is a great parkrun course too
@ Nice. Yeah I’m interested to see where my ceiling is :-) Doing everything I can to get as fast as possible as quickly as possible. We’ll see where I end up! What are your goals at the moment? Are you working towards something or just maintaining?
@ just maintaining at the moment after recovering from Melbourne Marathon. Need to start ramping up a bit soon. 2025 will be a focus on half marathons and 10km races. If I get to Shelley Parkrun next year I’ll let you know!
I still wrestle with them same thoughts when putting in an all out effort. The head gets really busy looking for a way out. I've heard from a friend who has progressed over a few years to sub 16 that it doesn't stop. The pain cave is what it is 😂 we prepare to do battle with the mind and push those limits. Well done on a solid effort 💪
@@whereweoffDAD Doesn’t surprise me that your friend said it never stops! I recently read a really great book that deals the the mental side of endurance sports - How Bad So You Want It? by Matt Fitzgerald. Highly recommended. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
