Matt - That one is identical to my old T-bird, same year, colour and all. Bought it new in 2000, sold it 12 years later. Lovely, lovely bike. The most reliable bike I ever owned, including 2 Hondas. One mod I did was install rubber gators on the front forks (just to reinforce the 60's look of it. Good luck with that great bike.
Awesome Matt《☆》Definitely a nice cruiser. I just saw a Vid last week on Triumph Tripple discussing the unique Crankpin spacing🗣Back when I had my 73 Yam RD350 a buddy wanted to swap rides one night. I opened the throttle up on his Yam XS1100. It was impressive. I nearly wrecked when I hit the front brake. No anti dive in the front fork. Bout threw me over the handle bar🖖😎☮
Hello down there, love your vids ! you seem like someone knowledgeable and loyal. I bought a 2000 Thunderbird 900 and when i was riding on the freeway and downshifted from 4th to 3rd or 3rd to 2nd, the bike shut off. Any idea what it could be? the owner said it could be the ignition coil. The mechanic drove it and said theres no problem with it and i should only pull in the clutch half way when changing gears and not fully pulled in. But...if the bike did shut off because of the clutch, why was it so hard to start after i pulled over to the side of the road ? i had to wait 1 minute and when i tried starting it, it just wouldnt catch. With a prayer, i went full throttle while starting it and it worked but it happened to me 3 more times on the way home. Thanks !
Hmmm. Did it try to start and not take? That would have me think maybe carb problems. If it was one of the coils it would probably still start, but would be running bad/misfiring. I'd also look into maybe the kickstand switch? I know on lots of bikes a faulty kickstand switch would cause it to kill when in gear. I wouldn't think the clutch lever/clutch switch would cause it to kill the motor. I'd really have to experience it and be hands on to be much help.
It's this one here. It spans a number of models vs a focused manual, unfortunately. However the bikes are all similar, they get specific when they need to, and the engines are all extremely similar. You may be able to find a copy cheaper somewhere, this was just a quick find on ebay to share. www.ebay.com/itm/265220915469?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-117182-37290-0&mkcid=2&mkscid=101&itemid=265220915469&targetid=1645685073808&device=m&mktype=&googleloc=9005550&poi=&campaignid=16730423415&mkgroupid=135815925780&rlsatarget=pla-1645685073808&abcId=9300841&merchantid=6421714
