Dru is not explained, though the family does go into hiding so presumably Dru wouldn't have gone with them and wouldn't get to know where they are. He makes a quick appearance at the end after the family moves back to their house. They're celebrating being back and he is in the background barbequing or something.
Pure minions? Maybe like 35% of it. That's why it kind of felt like this movie is a setup for a minions sequel. The Mega Minions are created, and then don't really have a big role in it after a couple fun scenes with them.
