this game has alot of potential i would love to see a Mortal Shell 2
Or if they make DLC for the game, I’ll definitely buy it
I honestly feel like the more people that buy the game, the more opportunities the company will have at either making DLC or making a second game. Support them!
Everyone needs to speak with their wallet. Having a blast so far with this and would love to see what they can put out with a bigger budget!
This game would have killer PVP since each player has set stats and weapons set move selection. Take upgrades out and have all players use base weapon values and skills, and Free for all 4 man would just work.
15 people created this game. That is nuts but to expect such will likely never happen. But if a sequel is to come, surely it will be more funded with more hands to make it better then the first with the new concepts MS offers.
Guys only 4 main devs developed this game and they did a great job at picking what the game should be and not overflowing with unpolished mass. So demanding more substance is really not realistic
It's Cowboy's kryptonite...having to chose a build, any build
I sympathize. I remember getting Skyrim for the first time and restarting about 10 different times trying different things. Souls 1 did the same for me.
Nice to see Mean Old Mr Gravity make an appearance
Harros is my overall favorite. His hardening abilities are what make him extremely enjoyable to use.
I agree plus he gets hardening back faster
Lol
Harros might seem like a crappy shell at first (especially since Solommon is obtained really early on) but at end game he is practically unkillable, able to harden faster than the others and keep i-frames for about 3 seconds after he is broken from being hardened. He also has amazing stamina regen with the skill that increases it while hardening.
Harros was my choice for most of the game, felt unkillable for sure.
@@skilllessartos9912 yeah, he might have the weakest stats, but he's got some of the best skills in the game.
Also, thanks to his glimpse buffs, every enemy encounter over 3 was practically a guaranteed drop. That combined with his chance to heal from glimpses (roughly 50%) meant that he was never in need of health, except for the final boss.
Other lets play RUclipsrs: We now have upgraded blade Martyrs with divide relic foubded in the blah blah blah blah. . .
Cowboy: All right, big sword can now do a freezy explodey thing!
This is why i love this channel!
way more into watching this than i thought I'd be.
Idk if anyone else has noticed, but each weapon seems to have specific synergies with each shell. Solomon goes with the mace, because he has hella resolve and the special attacks with the mace are super useful, plus it uses a moderate amount of stamina and he HAS a moderate amount of stamina. The hallowed sword goes with the first shell (forgot his name) just as a good all around weapon and a good all around shell. Eredrim goes with the hammer and chisel because he has no stamina, but the weapon costs very little stamina. And Tiel gets the martyrs blade because it uses the most stamina and he has the most stamina. Also the design of the weapons seems to go with each character this way. hammer and chisel is black and gold like eredrim, mace is black and red like solomon, etc. kinda cool
The hammer and chisel has synergy with tiel too. Cause it has poison attacks and tiel does lots of shit with poison
I got my build with tiel and martyr blade and it was op af. Im Not afraid of spamming the attack button😂
@@adecc0 i know i want to play tiel but i cant decide between the hammer and the martyr sword. So im kinda sitting there with my 4 acid thingies to Upgrade when im sure what i want to use xD
@@Lyr00 the hammer and chisel had a high dps. That was a good option too haha
After doing more research and seeing what the game is about (thanks to this playthrough) all negative thoughts about the game have vanished. It's a bomb game with a very immersive atmosphere and style that is definitely a must play for any demonsouls fans and not only . Now looking really forward to playing it myself! *chefs kiss*
yeah, no. i spend some time with it now and i'm glad i had the chance to play the release and didn't buy it (friend). the lack of progression mechanics is just tangible, the lack of weapon options is boring the hell out of me. soulsborne without a proper stat and gear system doesn't work. it's a boring slog, a stick without a carrot. no cool gear to find, no spells, ranged (a lol ballista), no builds....it's just a barren wasteland. it looks amazing, sounds amazing, but it's like a Michael Bay-movie: missing the core and soul.
@@Kalas82
Yeah , that's what I used to say , that it is rushed but after getting told that the game was made by a new studio of 15 people i changed my mind completely , btw the simplicity of the game contributes to the experience .
@@nikiforoslll i get what you are saying, but then i look at Hellpoint, which despote it's obvious flaws atleast kept the rpg-core of souls intact. i tried liking Mortal Shell, the moment to moment gameplay is great, the design is great...but the rest is so utterly lacking that i cannot imagine replaying it ever again. it's kinda hillarious how there are now build-guides, for a game without "builds". minimalistic plot and char-interactions are one thing, but when the plot is just a carbon copy of souls wihtout all the characters then it's just lazy. but what realy hurts the game at the end of the day is the choice to throw all out: the loot, the stats, the weapons and armor. part of killing a difficult boss is the rewards afterwards: which doesn't exist in Mortal Shell. it's a copy of Dark Souls, without the soul and that's probably the rest most people lay it aside halfway through according to achievment stats.
Hard choices. I went with Solomon in the end and don't regret it.
been playing most of the game as harros. the harden effects are insane tbh. stamina gain is really fast during harden. shorter CD lets u be really aggressive. the extended invulnerability window when you get hit during harden is also a godsend. cant imagine playing any other shell.
Come, children! Gather 'round! And let me tell you the story of
"Eredrim, the Shell That was Too Thicc"
... or not...
Fully upgraded he's gotta lot of potential... and then seeing the end of this upload... lol... looking forward to which weapon and which shell you FINALLY decide to go with...
THANKS FOR UPLOAD!
From what I've found playing Fully upgraded Eredrim, you have to be on the mark with Harden and Parrys. The stacking damage buff, the damage taken reduction buff, you either have to play the poke game or make sure your attacks are gonna gank the target if you want to commit. Playing Fully Upgraded Solomon is literal weapon special spam extraordinaire, the weapons with AoE specials making clearing zones easy since he'll end up regening resolve almost as fast as he uses it, the extra health while carrying the gland is pretty handy as well. Next on my docket Harros and then Tiel. The ability to farm glimpses is handy after you max him out because you can convert glimpses on him to the item that gives glimpses to what ever shell you're in at the time, so if you farm out 30 Glimpses on Harros you can give 25 to another shell. Tiel is going to be hard to level for me, I'm too clunky to play a guy with crazy low amounts of HP like Tiel, no matter how good at dodging he is it won't matter if I suck at dodging in the first place. XD
Finally beat this game, got *12* hours out of the first play through, now I think I unlock the rest of the shells upgrades and beef up the weapons. I mained Hammer and Chisel but towards the end I unlock the Martyr Blade and with two acids and both upgrades its able to take out most small enemies with two light attacks. I can't wait to see what that monster does when its max acid buffed. **o**
Be the first to make a walkthrough to the hammer and chisel upgrade lmaooo 0leeease im so lost
I went thicc boi and hallowed blade good combo max stacks insta kills
@@kahnner.janson2022 not a fan tbh thiccness is just to low stamina...
Fought Grisha using the Hammer and Chisel using ThiccBoi, quite literally stunlocked him back to back. 4 Lights downed Grisha, let my stamina restore, and attacked during his roar, and downed him again.
Took zero damage, he never even got a chance to attack. It was beautiful.

Gravity makes an appearance.
That throw head at 3:30 is mad funny 😆
Actually given a closer look at the animations, it seems the huge sword is Tiel's, and thikk boi is supposed to use the Hammer and Chisel. Solomon is supposed to use the Smoldering Mace and basic Harros with the Hallowed Sword.
So I played through my 1st time with Harros, and the reason was because I liked his abilities a lot. Fast stamina regen when using harden, the additional I frames from the increased duration of harden, and theb he has a 25% cool down on harden which means things like mortal tokens or any buffs from harden are much more effective on Harros. Its also one of those things where I felt like Harros having mediocre stats in everything made it a bit more of a challenge.
The problem I feel is that the heavy weapons don't have enough damage. Maybe their damage ramps faster with upgrades, but they don't do as much damage as they should compared to the faster weapons.
Loved the parry on the 2 hander
Hi Cowboy, Love all your videos and I am a long time fan!
Here is what I found out, perhaps it will help you chose ^_^
Haros: Constant Hardening. The hardening combos you do with the guy are insane ^_^ (Once fully upgraded)
Solomon: TONS of resolve and abilities to get Resolve back quick ^_^ Lots of weapon specials.
Eredrim: has all his stats around increasing dmg. Once you unlock those you are an unstoppable killing machine :D
Tiel: I didn't get to fully upgrade him, but it relies around using Stamina efficiently and poison from what I can tell :D
Weapons:
Martyr blade + 5 is a 2-3 hit combo on most enemies.
Hallow Sword + 5 is again a 3-4 combo and the mechanical spike + molten spike are awesome.
Haven't upgraded the Molten Mace or Chisel & Hammer
Gravity deaths are the main reason i die in these games lol, i fell the same way you did there
Boss kill combo. Eredrim with extra poise damage and one on one damage, martyres sword upgraded and the offering that increases resolve gain. Heavy then start an r1, harden through hit, second r1, R2L2 special to freeze boss. Regain stamina, heavy light light into another special since you'll have gained enough resolve. Heavy light light back off. Absolutely RINSES their health
I love this cowboy, keep them vids coming will ya. :P
Awesome work bro! 👍
I've been destroying everything with Eredrim using the Hallowed Sword. I feel it's kinda OP really bc of the damage stacks.
when cowboy goes AAAAAHHHHHHH!!! You know he slaying some booty. hahahahaa
Catacombs of Carthus right here.
Long sword is ok but the hammer butters alllll the bread.
I'm afraid this game just isn't doing it for me! Boy, you better believe I'll still watch each and every episode though.
You should try it for yourself! This game so much fun than i thought. I bought it yesterday and im already having a blast😂
@@adecc0, I'm sorry, I literally cannot stand this game.
@@idoenjoyeatingapples that was my first impression aswell, it took me 5 hours of play to get into it(and a lot of dying)
@@claudiucipriang.c.c5483, I'm glad you're enjoying it man! However, I just can't get over the combat, the level design, and the art direction.
Thiccy is only best if you have a barrage of Roasted rats or Wellcaps. Given he can heal up a tonne of HP over time using him, and is he unlikely to be mauled by 1 combo, so dying is very far and few between. He is good when maxed though. Especially his executioner skill. Great for build up before bosses to optimize your power.
Gravity the bane of every souls player
When I played I stacked the execution bonus and after like 100 kills you one shot enemies with the zweihander. It’s absolutely broken, I’m not a spammer tho so the slower pace fits me well.
I hated those catacombs in the early part of your video. 2 or 3 enemies constantly packed close together was not fun.
Edit: those chests are open able when fog is on the map.
Solomon best shell
LMAO xD "We call this the pancake express b*tch"!" Lol classic
Stat wise the basic beginner character seems like he's supposed to be a Jack of all trades master of none kind of deal. So I can possibly see what his appeal would be.
I know this is irrelevant, but I can't get over how much cooler looking eredrim is than the other ones. He has a very cool royal appearance to him.
Yea but sadly the beginner shell is weaker or equal than solomon in every stat. There is really no point in taking him other than the skills u can unlock but to be honest he only has like 2 that are good
@@Lyr00 ah, yeah. Your right. Well I suppose he'd be good for potential challenge runs.
Maybe I underestimated harros. I just tried him out with the harden stamina refill skill and it’s nuts. U can spam attacks then harden to block and I’ll be full on stam again, maybe they tried balancing that with his poor stats
@@Lyr00 huh, well maybe that's his appeal. Sounds pretty cool.
This game just released in India & I'm getting it for $7 because of a coupon. Frickin awesome!
The freeze would be nice if it didn't suspend them. Basically you're giving them a Harden. If it stopped their attacks/movement it would be king.
I started the game a couple of hours ago, I ended up running into this boss without having any other upgrades, weaps or items. Fuck my luck xD.
Mortal Shell 2 will be the new DS game we all want they came up a bit short in this game imo.. hopefully we get a MS 2
I find Solomans stats OP, max resolve great toughness and good stamina. Why does max stamina or toughness, kill your other stats? I think average boi should have 6 per stats, soloman is good, thicc boi needs 4 or so in other 2 stats, and same for Tiel.
This game is hard but it's really good
It’s months s after but with eredrim you just have to find your range and manage the stamina
Grisha sweety are you back lmao
Ya know, it may have been the hardening mechanic but I SWEAR in the last trailer before lunch they showed the player switching shells on the fly, mid attack. I watched it like 10 times.
I read a comment about this. You can use one of those effigys to swap shells, and you can also put those items on your item bar. That means that you can do a combo, and use one of these "shell swap" or "weapon swap" items from your item bar in the middle of a combo.
‘The pancake express’ 😂
Me personally I rlly liked solomon with any weapon besides the swords. He does best with the hammer and the staff. I even beat grisha with the staff and Solomon first try while I died a million times with everyone else. I dont like the low hp dude tho he gets one shotted easily by most things adn the crazy amount of stamina dont rlly make up for it to me while solomon has enough stamina and health to do everything and the resolve to pull of reposts and specials and if you get into some skills on his tree his resolve gains fast asf in fights. Thicc boy I also like but hes more for exploring areas like that obsidean place where everything does odee damage but I like to pair him with the hammer cuz it uses less stamina
Is it possible this shell is supposed to be paired with a less stamina hungry weapon?
Edit: looks like you were thinking the same thing, trying it out with the hammer and chisel at the end there. Decisions!
I love my thicc build. eradrim + Mace + increase poise damage
slam+rest repeat.
Nice gameplay. The claymore is eay better thab that pole-partisan sword.
Wait a min I wasnt supposed to fight grisha right away man I beat him on my third try without no new shells and weapons lol.
Cowboy, i know you are probably past it now but with the stacking damage you might not need more than 3 hits to kill an enemy at some point
Cowboy when are you finishing the walkthrough?
Level up Mr. Venerable and use the hammer trust me it’s OP at least for me (:
Glad I wasn’t the only one who got my *ss handed to me by Grisha MANY times.. using the FIRST SHELL with no upgrades... but finally did!🤣
Thats how I beat him too🤣. I aint found the other shells or weapons yet
hell stocker There should be a trophy for that? Press on my friend, press on & persevere 😎
hell stocker Tip: Explore Grisha’s room thoroughly after beating it...
@@TheVDaddyo idk what they were thinking putting him there. He's literally RIGHT beside the hub area. Of course I'd fight him before finding anything else.
Keeps up the good work Daddyo
Why doesn’t a huge sword do significantly more damage than a hammer and chisel. Seems like with how much slower it is the damage should reflect that.
Hammer and chisel upgraded, huge sword not + multiple hits.
I’m about halfway through the vid didn’t see you upgrade yet I guess. I was just comparing to previous vids where it seems you kill in the same amount of hits.
Good morning
good morning
Good wednesday
Happy HUMPDAAAY !
Watching you try out the Zweihander Vs the Hammer and Chisel, I think that the two handed sword has way too little damage for how slow it is. Seriously need a buff.
It seemed a lot easier to kill Grisha with the Hammer and Chisel.
Don't recall but i think I had upgrades in the hammer here while the sword was base. We've been using martyrs blade and scorching mace in the walkthrough prep and both are at +4, it's a much more accurate look at their damage potential
@@FightinCowboy Alright!
I'll do that later then. Thanks for the answer.
So I just started playing this game and I’m so frustrated with it.
I feel that sometimes too, but overall I enjoy the game. It's pretty good.
I get it... I did too at first. Takes some getting used to. Biggest tip early on = USE the HARDEN mechanic (and if you’re playing on PS4, for example, HOLD the harden button to maintain UNTIL you tank a hit... for it to be effective). Come back to the Grisha mini-boss after you get a (faster) Shell 😎
Saaaame just wanna get the ability for hammer and chisel already
Same imo its less forgiving than the Dark Souls series or the Purge series. It’s fun tho and after getting used to the challenge it feels very rewarding
If you upgrade Tiel you can *sprint* without using stamina. The game is about dodgin so anyway i started blasting.
Hey uh cowboy are you interested in samurai Jack because the brand new game gets released on Friday so just curious if you were gonna put that on your channel.
Probably not, one of the few adult swim shows I never got into
@@FightinCowboy Fair enough and you are correct about samurai jack being one the most popular and well received adult swim shows....But if you ever change your mind you'll bet your ass I'll be here😊✌️
3:55 Cowboy's arch nemesis, gravity
Is it me or Grisha sounds exactly like the bears in skyrim?
Almost like they used the same audio design..
Trying to catch up now. Funny how you said Solomon abilites are ass. Wonder if you have figured out the Solomon hammer combo where you just spam your special over and over. Solomon with hammer is the most op thing in the game. The last dungeon boss and final boss was so easy it was shameful. Next I want to try martyr blade but I'm not sure who to use. I hate how the two specials for martyr and club are buffs. Its nowhere near as good as hammer and hallowed sword.
Thicc boi didn't parry or use hammer and chisel
Seems like the smoldering mace and Martyrs blade could use a little extra damage to me. Not saying it needs a huge buff but the damage seems a little light for the speed of them
Cowboy, do you know how many episodes this is gonna be, just wondering? And do you think you'll be covering the sekiro update in October, if you have time considering baby cowboy?
He said it's about 10-12 hrs so maybe 22-25 episodes. About sekiro, he said he was considering it in a community post
@@sudeshnard7439 Thanks for the info 👍
So:
Harros is the SL1 Build
Solomon is the Quality Build
Eredrim is the Havel Build
Tiel is the Dexterity Build
@@mickethegoblin7167 It's where you pick the Deprived class in Dark Souls and don't level up at all
Will they have multiplayer in this one ?
I think Eredrims execution stack is bugged out. I was at 15+ stacks and didnt see the damage increase. Anyone else seeing this?
It's not a 1:1 ratio of stack:damage. Every 4-5 stacks will be 1 damage but it also varries per weapon
@@FightinCowboy I wasnt expecting to be a 1:1 but a little more than what it was. Hammer and chisel I didnt see a difference worth using. Guess it makes sense since poison damage seems to be the same. Havent noticed more than a 1 damage tick yet.
Yeah poison damage is underwhelming. If you get up to 100 stacks the difference is very noticeable but obviously that's gonna take a while. Good news is they last until you're separated from your shell so no worries there.
How are you generating so much resolve with your attacks I generate nowhere near that much I'll kill 30 guys and not get a single bar its BS
Its the same with all weapons and shells
yes I've unlocked their names
What am I doing wrong
its to HARD
How many hours this game ?
Around 15 hours. For a casual gamer like myself, maybe 25 hours.
don't take this personal, but nearly every observation you made while playing this game is kinda wrong. a) all seal upgrades are universal b) resolve gains are only influenced by items or the seal upgrade c) you do not use the highes stam-cost weapon on the lowest stam chars d) all of "thicc-boys" abilities are garbage...all. they don't scale for shit, on ng+ he is without a doubt the worst char, the same goes for Tiel: his skills scale for shit aswell...but he atleast has nice stamina e) the first shell you get is the easiest to use, you can nearly perma-harden f) solomon is, porperly used one of the best (highest dps-output thanks to his great resolve managment) g) upgrading your weapon is the only way to "progress", which is capped at 5, even at 5 the difference is laughable compared to similiar games...there's no powergrinding in mortal shell (they cut building and progression out), what you see is what you get: get a shell (out of 4..well technical 5) get a weapon (out of 4) and that's that, and it will not get any better: the only "progression" you get are different power attacks (2 resolve attacks), which are mostly useless or the same h) run+heavy attack is the best attack in game, can be comboed into any combo, can be done from any distance
you don't suck at parry, Mortal Shell got one of the strangest parry-windows i've ever seen in a soulsbourne...
Eredrim with 400+ stacks of his buff is an unstoppable force. I absolutely owned this game with him. You dont need stamina when every enemy dies in 3 hits.
All of them are good , it only matters at ng+ . The parry seemed easy , i destroyed almost all bosses because of this and i farmed grisha at the mist without losing health because parrying him was so easy
Not trying to disparage these designers but I've never seen the attraction to these knock off style games. It's just a reskin of the Fromsoftware formula with none of the charm/depth/etc. Fromsoft games are the main reason I'm still playing games but none of these games appeal to me in the slightest.
