That race is a dang metaphor for their friendship. Together for the majority of it and the finish line is almost there, but D16 loses himself before they cross it even with Orion trying to help and be there to support him
The moment I saw the film, I knew someone was going to make an animatic of this song with D-16 and Orion. I just didn't expect it to come out this soon, nice work!

Makes you wonder after Optimus banished Megatron if a part of Optimus regrets going on this journey because he knows if they hadn’t him and D-16 would still be friends. An amazing animatic bravo 👏

@@KarmaVein I wouldn’t be surprised even if everyone else is happy it’s a constant reminder to Orion/Optimus of what he’s sacrificed to get where he is now, not only that the war will pretty much permanently destroy any chances they may have of had of rekindling their friendship not to mention the heavy casualties both sides will suffer during the war that Megatron holds Optimus personally responsible for those deaths.

This song fits so well! It starts out with Orion wanting to cause disrruption and chaos for fun and freedom, but then as D-16 slowly gives in to his anger Orion starts to take on responsibility and begins to live by the rules. Hence why he is still the one "on the wire" at the end. Love that detail so much :D

For the most part my og comment makes sense, but yes, orion/Optimus never plays by traiditonal rules and always has motivations behind the crazy things he does. He never solely does insane things just for fun :)

Orion caught him again during the attack on the High Guard’s base. Both times he didn’t hesitate to pull D-16 up, but D-16 did before dropping Orion
