3 years ago, I had never even ridden a dirtbike and after some pressure from my best mate I got my first bike here I am 3 years later attacking as many expert tracks as I can see. I have finally found my long lasting hobby of enduro and I go into 2025 with my new te300 on order, super excited!
Man it's been 20 years since I raced motocross... my bro does berm buster though still as he lives over that way. He loves it. Crack up seeing Renny doing suspension. Famous. Mint video 👌 by
the highlight the berm buster deserves, been 3 times as i lived central, havent been back since my old man tore his ac joint and broke a couple ribs when we went riding there, this video makes me think i need another trip out, beauty video as always
great to see you back again ash ive been waiting for another vid for ages and now its finally here and you havent dissappointed me. keep up the great work!
Awesome video, Epic events hosted some awesome rides 15-20 years ago with Desert Storm and Suzuki Sand Blast. The new owners of Epic events have elevated Berm Buster to another level. Riding paradise that could only be elevated by allowing camping like Desert Storm and Suzuki Sand Blaster had but there is simply not enough splace.
Awesome video bro. I can personally say that the berm buster is a great ride but there is plenty more in the North Island just as good and in some cases better. Anyone that has done the tussock buster trail ride in Waiouru (including myself) will tell you that that was the best trail ride in all of NZ. Unfortunately they no longer do the tussock buster trail ride due to reason beyond my knowledge. But if they ever bring it back I will definitely attend!
Have to agree completely. Berm Buster is cool, but is so popular that the pumice trail falls to pieces very quickly. The second loop is always completely whooped out and rooted. Those last three Tussock Busters: 1600 dirt bikes for 3 days in their own little village...300 kms of divine trails. Supreme!!!! Anyone interested in the history of that enormous trail ride, just search YT.
But you did forget to mention the free camping just off the site. But if you think the south is cold then camp there. !!!! My tent was frozen solid in November !!!! Truly the best place ever. Thanks for posting this ash. If I see you there I’ll want to shake your hand for all the great vids you make!!!
Berm Buster 2020 (first one after lockdown) was my first ever trail ride having just started riding dirt bikes by that stage. To say it was a baptism by fire would be a bit of an understatement. Heard there were over 1000 bikes there that weekend alone, and was an experience I’ll never forget!
Awsome video ash love your content bro. I’ve been trying to get the guys I ride with to plan a weekend or even a whole week of riding logging roads and trails but no one has got any time always to busy. Wow I wish there was something like this around where I live
that's sick man! I didn't realize how much i missed your content till i watched the KTM killer for a 3rd time. You are my favorite dirt bike creator and hell bonus that your also from NZ so anything you say makes sense unlike the Americans. Once i get my long distance tank for my 2017 RMX450Z and a JD jet tuner i want to go on one of these berm buster rides they look very cool! I look forward to the all new dirt bike content you come out with!
Bermbuster has become Tussock buster, since there's no more access to the army grounds. Tussock buster used to be the biggest ride in Australasia, with people all round the world coming to ride .
Ay just by seeing the video i want to be there, i am from France and these types of events are rare if not never been done before here and i would be lying if i say that i don't envy you. Just by seeing this video the rider in me wants to be there with y'all. I really think that Berm Buster is now added in my check-list of motocross things i want to do at least once in my life.
You are truly talented at content creation and narration, always a pleasure to experience your take on things. I wonder what it would cost to fly there from the island of Kodiak?🤗
Ash have you ever been to Dansey’s Pass trail ride in North Otago? I’ve heard people have come from Australia before to do it. Hands down the best ride I’ve ever done
The best trail ride I've ever done was somewhere around Rotorua. I've done a bunch of rides around the Taupo and Rotorua areas, and only went to this particular one once and I have no idea where it was unfortunately.
could be the Tarawera trail ride out the back of Whakatane? Dirt World just next to Rainbow mountain, the tunnels trail ride over closer to Putaruru, Hamilton or Porters road, (the old abandoned roads out the back of lake Rotoiti) I think there was rides on Mt Tarawera at one stage. Burts trail ride over closer to Whakatane or there was one on a farm near Pongakawa called Pirini trail ride. I've heard stories of one up on Mt Nongataha like up in behind the zorb back in the day. Think theres a guided trail ride over near Tokoroa too. Man I am ridiculously spoiled for choice where I live!!
Wicked clip Ash definitely a bucket list ride and well done with On-board Offroad!👍 If you want to see something other than pine trees and climb hills hundreds of metres high, and try Nutbuster level Gold Class diversions check out Te Anau Basin Trailride we're going full send next year!🤘😉
Been to NZ with 11 friends/3 cars...roud trip for almost 3 weeks......now I wanna go back, for at least a month/island. Are those funny minibus-campers with lots of colours still available? If Yes - starting to save for my 40'th birthday trip :D
Being new to riding. About 2 years. It was one of the first long trail rides. And man. It is truly the best ever!!!! Even tho I fell off my bike at top speed and couldn’t walk for a week. HahahahahA. MY skill set not the track.
Man you don’t have to sell it for me, massive shoutout to the bro Ryan (who shared this video) put me up for a few nights while I was tiki touring the north island The conversation started somthing like this “You any good at riding” “yeah bro, got my green Ps” (restricted) Nek minute we’re mishing over from Hamilton to the Ngaitui ? Enviro school trail ride And I’m on his uncles brand new husky TE450? I didn’t know what to expect at all, the closest thing we have is the Stockmans rally, start off in a paddock and manage to cover every kind of terrain except desert, multiple water crossings all while the entire circuit took a couple of hours I was amazed how fuel efficient EFI bikes are (I ride an 03 DRZ400e lol) Barely even used 5L the whole day, wasent going flat out but still It was an unreal experience that I would love to be able to do again, that’s my motivation to work hard “do the mahi, get the treats!” Also There’s an poorly edited video of it on my channel from 2018 if anyone hasent seen the Ngaitutu enviro school trail ride, idk if they change the corse each year or not
I actually did the stockmans rally a year before or after? the ngatutu trail ride, tbh Nz does it better so many ways, $50 entry, no rego or licence required, not even a liability waver I don’t think where’s the stockmans rally in Victoria was like $150 for the day (6 hours riding) but you needed rego and a licence for (hence why I have a licence (pretty sure I had just got a learner licence for it, just passed the restricted car test 😅
He might not put out videos very often but they are certainly worth the watch when he does!

The south waikato/BOP area is pretty spoilt for forestry options
