But the Toei (the og studio) found out about it being low fund, so they fund the second season and make them part of sentai world. I watched this show before watching Gekiranger. In Gekiranger, there's a Ranger that has an evil clone. What's funny is that the evil clone is portrayed by the original Ranger's twin brother. And in Akibaranger, this twin brother shows up and I noticed he has the same voice. It's funny how twins can have the same tone of voice.
It's kind of hard to explain but Akibaranger's ACTUAL PLOT is, NO JOKE, AMAZING, when I first watched it I was blown away. It shifts gears multiple times and it's... truly unique.
Akibaranger is a really wild ride. I love it so much especially as I am a long time Super Sentai fan. I has chuck full of references and it is a show that knows what it is and where it came from. It is not afraid to make fun of itself. You can watch the show once you know more of Super Sentai to appreciate it better but watching it on its own is also fun.

Akibaranger is a piece of art, specially season 1 hahaha. If I remember correctly it was made for the 35th Anniversary too, it's fun on its own, but having some prior Sentai Knowledege makes it even more enjoyable due to the amount of References. And yeah, it's not for children, lol. It was made for Older Fans of the Franchise. But what I love the most is how much you can tell the Actor for Akiba-Red was having the times of his life with it haha.
The villainess is played by a A.V actress if you catch my drift, which was a little playful jab at Toei’s casting choices for female villainesses in the Showa and Heisei Eras, as in villainesses with somewhat revealing outfits, funnily enough the Gobusters alternate timeline movie makes another jab at certain costuming choices by putting the alternate version of their commander in a military uniform with a Hitler-esque moustache, on the subject of past blunders Commander Hedder from Battle Fever J, (one of the villains) was originally played by Kenji Ushio, but then he got caught with drugs, and they replaced him and reshot scenes with the replacement actor in all but one of the episodes he appeared in, Diane Martin A.K.A the First Miss America (her character was also called Diane Martin) was cast because she was half-Japanese due to half-Japanese woman suddenly being popular in Japan, only problem was being Japanese-American she didn’t speak fluent Japanese and had to be re-dubbed primarily by Momo Ranger’s actor Lisa Komaki, ultimately she left the series and the character was replaced.

I love Akibaranger so much and the fact that SPOILER Season 1 starts as a comedy and THEN TRANSITIONS INTO SERIOUS ACTION and THEN INTO META NARRATIVE COMEDY is actually superb writing and the way the mechanics of the world work is really interesting. Those mechanics get used more interestingly in Season 2 though. I have to compare it to Persona 5 in those mechanics, it's so good.
