The harsh reality of a toxic mixture of landlordship, greed, and lack of rent control. I realize there are no easy answers but the future looks bleak sadly unless there are supports for the most vulnerable in our society.

Landlords are not greedy. Landlords has bills also and it coast to keep up a rental. they don't give us notice when they are raising
      land taxes or home insurance

People are getting priced out of their homes in the US too. It's happening everywhere. It should be illegal 😤

The only way people can be sure not to be out of their home is buy a home. then they still have to come up with the taxes on their home.

BC Housing tore down the townhouses on Kootenay Avenue in 2021 and there has been nothing done since. There should have been new townhouses completed last year!

Kudos to the owners. The building needs renovations which the older LL never fixed. They should be happy that there are going to be renovations. The LL should help pay for a hotel room until they can move back. There should be hotel rooms or a nearby college with dorm housing.

This is happening in Terrace BC as well, and for sure everywhere and seems no one cares and no one cares soon we all will be evicted and all that Canada will have is people living in tents 99.9% , my rent went up again 2000 for a 1 bedroom basement if lucky some of us we have to live together as a family to barely be able to make it day to day. Landlords are sharks

Why dont people have families that take care of their elders? I think there needs to be a discussion about culture here. The kids of these elderly people, where are they? If they did not have children to take care of them in their old age, what is the Tsimshian community doing to help them?
