    I followed your instruction two years ago and havn't had a single issue since. When I first put it up in the spring I put aluminum foil tags with peanut butter on them between the support posts wrapped around the wire. I actually got to see a fawn put it's wet nose on it. They ran about 20 feet away shaking their head then went back to the forest.
    THANK YOU!!!

      How big is the area, what size charger, where are you located? Also, is charger in full sun? You may also consider adding a third strand 6" higher up.

      it's important to train the deer. I put peanut butter in aluminum foil strands and wrap around the wire to the rain doesn't wash away the pb. The deer like the scent and touch it. They learn quickly. I plan on redoing the pb every winter. I also tie up orange strands on the wire so they have that visual cue too. Let us know how it works for you.

    If you’re “adding this on” to an existing wooden or chain link fence line, you would do the one 6 inch one and one wire a couple feet taller than the fence…I guess that’d work too? The deer would have to jump and mess up that one though.

    • @tablerockteacompany
      @tablerockteacompany Год назад +1

      The problem with adding it to a fence line is that the deer see the fence. The top wire at 14 inches works because deer have a problem with depth perception around that height. They don’t know what to do with it so they nuzzle it, get shocked and move on

      @@JTRUTH2025 - not sure why 14 inches exactly - just has to do with deer anatomy and behavior (how they lower their heads to investigate, etc). It was actually Jen’s grandfather who taught us this trick. It has even kept bears out of our beehives.

      Sorry one more question....what was the Grandfather growing and what do you have in garden?? I have Apple and Peach Trees and Blackberry and Red Raspberry bushes that the Deer REALLY Like! Has this fence stopped them from these high valued areas? Sorry just having hard time with this concept!! LOL...Just hoping it works for my situation and ared!! THANK YOU!!!

    Can I set a lower wire to keep out chipmunks?
    Until seeing this video I was thinking about putting wire cloth around my garden to keep animals out, and putting the electric just outside that.by an inch or so.
    I also was thinking of closing in the top/down the sides (the hardware cloth is only 30” high-but if the electric will work without all that-Nice!!!

    • @tablerockteacompany

      Chipmunks are pretty short. It would work if maybe you add a third (lower) wire in addition to the other two. My only concern would be shorting out on tall grass on that bottom wire but I’m not sure.
