Another new track! I first started this track almost a decade ago, during the writing process for Breathe, but it didn't seem to make sense within that album, so it's been a wonderful experience moulding parts of Exhale around this track's inclusion. I strongly believe that the use of samples in music can have their own inherent value in a way that doesn't necessarily compete with or negate live performances and live instrumental recordings, and in this track the lead string line is one of my favourite examples of that in my own work. It's virtuosic, it's tender, and yet it's synthesized and programmed - with tracks like this, I have a lot of fun writing and performing sample patches with my keyboard. I feel the intricacies and eccentricities of the string sample I'm using mirror the natural imperfections of a physical violin in a way that I love, and I love the amount of control and intention I'm able to put when writing in conjunction within the limitations of the software I'm using. I'd invite any artist to view their tools like this - there's surreal, untampered beauty in the inherent contradictions of making art digitally, and we should celebrate that.

I just missed my flight by ten minutes haha. Got caught up in writing and talking to people. When I went to leave I realized I didn't have my carry-on!
Ran and ran to get it back in time, but I didn't know where it was.
I tried TSA and was feeling just a bit impatient, so I sprinted down towards my gate to look one last time.
Of course I still couldn't find it.
A few minutes before the plane left I went back to TSA, with a little more hope of recovery.
I'd already missed my flight, now I needed to reclaim what I had temporarily lost.
It was quickly found. Perhaps with more patience, I too would be now off of the ground.
I'm more than okay though, knowing that what was lost now is found.
Was looking for something to latch my heart onto for the next few hours before I get picked up to go back home.
This helps fits the need for sure.
Twas a good reminder to me that the night is always darkest just before... the dawn. Thank you for sharing this wonderful piece of music. :)

I've been really enjoying all of your original work lately, but this is my favorite so far. I was kinda listening in the background and then it just, like, swept over me and I completely stopped in my tracks. This is powerful.
