John Woo directed the movie Face/Off starring John Travolta and Nicholas Cage. Fun fact about this song - they did a version with Miss Nicki Minaj. She’s in the MV for that version as well. This song serves two purposes. It’s kind of a clap back at the haters who diss them but it’s also a fan anthem. BTS want to help ARMY learn how to love themselves. A lot of their songs are uplifting and hold positive messages. There is a meaning behind the rabbit in the moon: Folklore throughout Asia has long held the rabbit as a symbol of rebirth that is commonly taken to represent the moon. So the rabbit in the moon could represent BTS’ rebirth as world renowned artists. Or their growth as men who have learned how to love themselves. BTS always have hidden messages like this in their videos and it’s really cool that you pay attention to that stuff. 💜
Idol is very CGI intensive. They are specifically going for the over the top, over produced K-pop feel since a lot of people around the world don't consider K-pop 'real' music, they are consistently told their music is artificial and manufactured with no artistic integrity. So the music video is basically obnoxiously bright and colorful to show the nay-sayers that BTS won't change their style based on the criticisms people throw at them. I've seen them preform it in concert a few times and they always fill the jumbo screens with the same intense poppy visuals.💜- - - Sidenote. BTS does use CGI quite a lot in videos. When people say they don't use it, what they mean is it's not used exclusively and groups like BP and BTS make a point to use practical effects as often as possible. CGI would be more for touch ups or in tandem with the practical effects, rather than the main go to. (Dynamite is a good example. They made all the sets but there is still CGI here and there through out the video. So even CGI artists who do reactions to those videos have a hard time determining what's practical and what's CGI)
Normally they don't use CGI but they went to town this time with the CGI big time I think that's also must be another way of them saying 'We don't care we can do use CGI to if we want we can do it too if and when we want to.'
This is an answer to the haters, and I love the message. DKDKTV is a good resource for BTS breakdowns. BTS - IDOL Explained by a Korean - ruclips.net/video/IL7PEjk1pys/видео.htmlsi=ahzMhdUoi9agFiD6 They are definitely using CGI, but I will link you the behind, and you might be surprised how much is the real set and what is CGI - ruclips.net/video/LAdvo0kOz8A/видео.htmlsi=sdT-21nI_NSmDPB4 You will also find that BTS uses and gets inspiration from art, literature, and pop culture. And it reflects in their messages, concepts, and their storytelling.
It is diss track in as well as part of the Love Yourself so they are saying they don't care the haters won't make them hate themselves. There are also many reference's to Korean culture in the MV be it sounds, drums, clothes, Korean Myths as they got accused for 'becoming too Westernised' yet they have and always will be proud South Korean's. They've never left their culture in fact they've shared it with the world and have been awarded by their government for doing so with a very high award 'The cultural merit award. They are also saying that like everyone else they have many different sides to who they are. 'Many of me' but it's all me and I'm not going to confirm to what you think I should be. We are going to love ourselves. You haters can't touch us. Notice the shark trying to eat them but they are protected by the cage. That's ARMY protecting them.
Here in the west we have the myth of the 'Man in the Moon' in South Korea they have the myth of the 'Rabbit in the moon' so it's another South Korean Reference.
Thank you for paying attention to the lyrics, references and visual symbolism. You're an anomaly among reactors that are interested and astute. If you're interested, there's a RUclips video that explains the references and symbolism you were asking about. I think it's called Idol explained.

Thank u so much for explaining the difference. The way they incorporate everything is perfect
These guys practice from 16 up to 18 hours a day literally its insane but they work so hard tho.
That’s some dedication right there. I love to see the grind and u can definitely tell that it pays off by looking at their videos
