When I was a kid, I asked my Papa (Mother's Father) what was his favorite breed of horse. I thought, he was a cowboy, so probably Morgan or Quarterhorse. Without hesitation, he says Missouri Fox Trotter. I was stunned- I thought I knew a lot about horses, but I hadn't heard of the breed. Papa says, "Sis, such a smooth ride, you could run cattle for days and not get sore," Great introduction to the breed for me, and a wonderful memory. ❤
I’ve owned 2 MFT Geldings for the last 24 years. They changed my life forever! I put my last one down in July of this year. I lasted about 2 days without a horse in my life. I reconnected with Miller-Ranch in Scottsdale, AZ where I bought mine 24 years ago and I just acquired a 4 year old Gelding named “Amaretto”. All is right with my world again! 🤠
Love my foxtrotter, Cash. One thing that wasn't mentioned in this video is how intelligent these horses are, and what amusing characters they can be. I own three different gaited breeds, and all of them are special, but Cash is definitely my heart horse.
I’m a descendant of the Alsup brothers who developed the breed. Surprisingly, I’ve only known about the breed history for a couple years. I’ve had my Saddle horse for 17 years and I’d love to get a MFT!
Yes, great comment! The Flat-footed walk, fox trot and canter are just the standard gaits recognized by the MFTHBA but they can have quite a variety of gaits depending on the horse.

Missouri Foxtrotters that are slabby make excellent multiday endurance horses. My Foxtrotter Warrior Shadows song won many national endurance awards. I rode her for over 5000 AERC miles. She was national junior champion at the age of 19 and carried a 14 year old rider for over 900 endurance miles that year. She had a wonderful filly who has become a bomb proof trail horse and also works cattle at a sale barn and has won competitive trail competitions. So smooth , sure footed,versatile and fun.

Omg I rode a fox trotter this summer on a trail ride and his gaits were like butter. I think when people said equestrians just sit there, they were referring to fox trotters because I was literally able to just sit there (with my seat muscles of course) as his feet were so light and elegant and he barely rocked his torso while cantering. I will definitely own one of these if I get the chance lol. I can’t even begin to describe how comfortable it is to sit their fox trot lol.

Brindle coloring is not a color of its own, but a very rare pattern caused by specific genes. So, a brindle horse has a base color, over which it has brindle. The base color can be anything. So, yes, in theory you can have a buckskin horse with brindle.

In red dead redemption 2 are present two varieties - silver dapple pinto and amber champagne. I couldnt find anywhere how do those twp varieties look outside the game. Does anyone have some link?

Many Fox Trotters have a very nice run-walk and/or rack as well. While that's not good for show, it's excellent for the trail.
