I have these shoes myself and have worn them about 10 times. They’re a really great shoe, I’m a 9 street shoe size and bought an 8.5 and to be honest I had to send them back as they crippled my feet! The 9 were snug and broke in well and perform really well on all boulders indoor. I still and will probably always use my Scarpas outdoor but for indoor bouldering the Phantom are spot on, highly recommend.
Im using a size 9us wide foot mad rock shoes. Just a beginner and there's no available physical shop in my country. So I would be purchasing these online and preferably don't want any sizing issues. Any advise on the sizing? Should I size up half or full? Thanks!
Evolv is funny - most shoes advertise comfort at street size, and performance when downsized. With evolv, they have performance at street size, and comfort when _upsized._ You _really_ need to try Evolv shoes on first if you're coming from a different brand.
I love these, I went a full size down since I prefer a super super snug shoe when I go outdoor bouldering.. Was very painful in the beginning, but now I dont regret it at all:)
Just bought a pair, only used them once i have a 47street size and bought a 47 they are definately snug, i hope they open up some more, love the laces.
Seems like Matt, you and I have the same heel. I REALLY struggle to find shoes that fit my heel and Evolve (Shaman, Aggro, Nexo, etc) fit great. And the rest of the shoe is great. Since the Shaman V1, Evolv has definitely been upping their shoe game :)
@@alyssaacchione ok thank you, I bought these a few months back lol. I like them a lot but I had another pair before this, probably a week after I posted this comment. I’ve really liked more aggressive shoes. I’ve tried a ton on lol and I found that out.
My street shoes are 43.5/44 euro 9.5uk 10us. Currently I'm wearing a La Sportiva Miura VS size 42 EU and Anasazi VCS(older model with Stealth Onyxx rubber) size 42 as well and they all fit snugly and a bit uncomfortable, what size should I get for this pair? Please respond thank you!! 🙏
For me personally, I wear a size 10.5 in Vans, and my toe is almost at the end of those. I have a wide forefoot and medium width heel, with a higher arch. A 10.5 was perfect for me in the Phantom, but a 10 was bearable and might be the way to go if your foot is lower volume. So I'd say 0-0.5 sizes down.
He did say this one was an 8.5 on him, and you can check his review of the drone for his size on that. I own both, and phantoms are about half a size up for me (american sizing), so 12 in drone 12.5 in phantom
@@andrewscott5059 and like..let's say you have a good but tight fit with the drone size 12..it is also tight with the phantom in 12,5?and maybe too tight in size 12 then?thanks
@@MrNicolas411 Drones have a wide range of good fitment. I can wear 11.5's if I really wanted to hurt. The phantoms have less stretch in them, and are pretty rigid at 12.5. I think a half size up from drone is likely good, but YMMV. I guess my answer would be yes it would also be tight, maybe even tighter than the drone.
@@andrewscott5059 ok..thanks a lot man, it's always difficult to find the right size from a shoe you don't know..I'm gonna order them in Half size up from my drone size
those are font bouldering grades, they relate to the Hueco system not YDS. quick approximations though, 7A is like V6, 7B around V7-V8. Normally people show it's a bouldering grade by capitalizing the letter.
TuvofLuv is say they are personally. The toe box is wide but crams then in there nicely. The heel for me personally could be a tiny bit more snug but I can’t complain too much at all as they perform really well.
@@derultnerlp9319 In terms of stiffness out of 10 the dragos are a 2/3, the evolv phantoms are a 6/7. Not a ton of sensitivity until they are broken in.
I just don't get why evolv produces such a shoe but only down to size 37 although a lot of women need a considerably smaller size and hence are excluded from wearing this shoe. since vegan, high performing shoes are seldomly found, this is just plain annoying. i don't need a special 'women version' that is basically the same shoe but in feminine pink and blue color, just deliver this one in smaller sizes. I mean if they can produce it up to a size 46, smaller sizes shouldn't really be this big of a challenge?!
This is a super cool review format - like a bouldering vlog/ shoe review combo. I dig it.
Came here to say the same thing!
I really like this style/format of the gear show. It's like a mix of vlog and real world product testing. Keep it up.
Who shot this video? It’s amazing love the style of this video feels like I’m watching friends hanging out
Probably hugo
DerDegle that’s what I thought but can never be sure :)

Let's get Hugo climbing and Matt filming in the next one :D
Every time I watch one of these I want new shoes
Matt don't forget your MOT is due in December
Good to see you climbing Matt, how's the finger doing?
How would you compare them to the Evolv Agro? The Agro is my current favourite shoe but I'm willing to experiment once I need a new pair.

This shoe is amazing, I HIGHLY recommend it
i have a pair! they’re awesome
So would this be good for indoor bouldering? This is going to be my first pair of climbing shoe if I get them.
they're not an ideal beginner shoe. They're VERY aggressive.

I want to know as well.

I am wearing la sportiva solution in 38.5 and futura 38.5 my street shoes 40
What size can be good? For me? Thanks
Go for street shoe size, I have futura 40.5 and they are about the same size as my phantom 42.5.
The colour scheme is too sensible to be a climbing shoe I doubt it sends.
They plan on selling different color lacing, and the first new one is supposed to be bright neon green, so your fears will hopefully be quelled soon.
Where u at, Hugo?
Can you put some YDS grades I get kinda confused, thanks

Finger injury update on the personal channel soon matt?
Are they comparable to the scarpa drago?
Absolutely not. They are much, much stiffer.

They size so ridiculously small that you might want to try their 37 if you can (depending on you actual size and the performance you're looking for)
My feet never stank worse than when I briefly wore evolv.
But what about the worst boulderers on earth?? Asking for a friend....
The best boulders on earth? Wrong continent, wrong hemisphere!
